Admission to the ICU, why would that be neccessary?

In acute withdrawal, overdose, or delirium they may require more medical attention/resources that a general medicine or psychiatry floor cannot dedicate, patients are typically admitted to the ICU for close observation when potential decompensation is highly suspected and requires intubation, pressors, or treatment for delirium with possibility of medical complication

How long will it take to become a Forensic Psychiatrist?

This applies to the UK. Alright so first it's medical school 5-6 years Next it's foundation training 2 years Then it's specialising in psychiatry/forensic psychiatry 4 years Total of 12 years to become a forensic psychiatrist. However! You will already be a forensic psychiatric registrar after 8 years. And can already study psychiatric topics in foundation year 2.

In the United States, after completing 4 years of Medical School, you would do 4 years of a Psychiatry residency and then a 1-year fellowship in Forensic Psychiatrist. For more: www.forensicpsychiatrynow.com/
