great Video. use Igniition all the time definately much easier to use & implement that any other Scada system out there. you can be set up in under 10 mins

The basic Ignition platform already comes with basic alarming features (alarm list and alarm historian/alarm journal)... The alarm notification module is required if you want to extend the alarm features to SMS, E-mail, rostering and other more advanced alarm features....

Even though Ignition version 8.0 introduced a host of new bugs, and really screwed up a lot of the designer UI strengths from version 7.x, they're still far and above all the other SCADA software options. By miles. Wonderware is a dinosaur that is both more difficult to use and more limiting to customers. Any other option you could name is just an "also-ran" that will never grow unless Inductive stumbles. In my view so far (having personally crossed the 7.9 to 8.0 barrier), Perspective is currently still stumbling, but improving. Vision is easier to use and has more plant control based tools, Perspective requires you to have familiarity with web design - which many SCADA designers simply did not have up until this point, because it's just a foreign concept to the way things have been built for decades. Perspective is also more geared towards lists, popup tables, and other so-called "high performance HMI" features. It's not very high performing yet, but I'm sure by the time we get to Ignition 8.9 the tools will be much easier to use and the implementations much better than they are today.

I also ran into the 7.x to 8.0 issues. Thanks for the info on Vision vs Perspective!

Had the same issue upgrading vision from 7.x to 8.x :) ... But starting to use perspective for newer projects and starting to get used to it.. it gets much better since 8.1.x

Well, the technical specifications and features are kind of expected for today’s SCADA. The most unique point probably is Python.

Other than python scripting, I feel the major differentiator is the unlimited tags and client licenses.. database connection is also handled very nicely.. free trial license 2 hours extendable for demo, training and engineering .. easy and light installation... I can go on and on, been using Ignition for about 3 years and have never looked back :)

After years of having to put up with Rockwell Software's terrible and bug shit city Factory Talk, I went with Ignition. I will never again use a Rockwell Software based HMI product. There's a saying amongst controls people, we all love Allen Bradley (great PLCs) but HATE Rockwell Automation! Ignition is a fantastic company, and they don't consider customer service as a profit center (unlike Rockwell!).

I started my automation career in 2015 in a plant that is standardized with ignition, then in 2019 I moved to one that was standardized with factory talk and i'll just say this ... i'm back at my old job 😂

Hi, I’m looking to use ignition to build an interface that retrieves and displays information from the SQL server. The interface would allow me to add a location label to the data. The data is then sent back to my SQL server. What tutorials should I focus on? Would love some recommendations. I have connected it to my SQL server.

hi I have compact logix studio 5000 plc , customer is using ignition. I check your video ignition can directly read the plc as long the setup opc built in for ignition. So my side not need do any software or programming ? Just connect and browse the plc tag through my plc Boolean or any tag right ?
@realpars2 жыл бұрын
Logix Studio 5000 is the programming software for CompactLogix and ControlLogix PLC's. These PLC's usually require RSLinx to provide OPC access to the PLC tag database. On the ignition side, you can use the OPC module or a specific PLC driver to communicate with the PLC. See: docs.inductiveautomation.com/display/DOC79/Drivers

@@realpars so I don’t need rs link to have opc access also can by using the link got this specific driver right ?

Is there any app available to practice the ignition coding ?
@realpars Жыл бұрын
Hi there, I would say that the best way to practice any coding or scripting would be to download ignition and practice directly on their software (it’s free to demo). Together with the extensive documentation and instructional videos that you can find from Inductive Automation (company that makes Ignition) practicing with their software would be the best way to go. There is something called Inductive University on their website that has a lot of training content. Hope this helps!

Hi Juan, yes, you will automatically receive a certificate of completion for each course series you have completed. You will find those when you click on "My Account" followed by "Certifications".

It's a great software but a expensive one, Ignition is well suit for large projects or big companies. If I have to work with a few tags or small projects I rather to use Indusoft
@jrs893 жыл бұрын
Have you checked out FactoryStudio? This is from the original creator of Indusoft. It's similar architecture and generation product as Ignition. It's lower cost.

If you talk to your Ignition sales rep, they may be able to set you up with a more affordable package that meets your needs.

You can go with edge licenses for smaller projects... Or go with the normal base with limited client license... The software is very scalable, had few experiences where customer started with very small system and extend until full blown system..

Ignition SCADA supports MATLab?
@realpars2 жыл бұрын
It can, either through SQL or RestAPI connection. I have not done this myself, but it appears others have with success. Ignition is very flexible and can employ almost any data connection method you can think of. The Web module for Ignition is likely the easiest way to connect to MatLab.
