One thing: When I was on Krita, I have no idea what I did, but, now every single time I press the pen down just for a bit and it assumes its a right click and it circles it in a white circle. I can cancel this out by moving my pen elsewhere but it messes up the drawing. Please Help! :(
@tymondabrowski99226 жыл бұрын
It's a driver problem, you can either a) restart a service named "WTabletService" (or Bamboo or something like that) in Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete, then click "Task manager", then go to the "Services" tab) or if it didn't work, b) restart your computer. I have it all the time with Wacom and I know for sure it's not a Krita problem, because when it happens, pen and tablet behaves differently in other programs too (and often the usual driver program cannot be reached, because "no graphic tablet found").

that guy yes and I suppose you can change the settings of the shortcuts, change them around. Might give it another go
@nonamebear11368 жыл бұрын
Krita has a feature that allows you to change the shortcuts that are similar to what you are used to in PS, and what not, without having to change every single key combo. Under Settings/ Configure Krita/ Keyboard Shortcuts, there is are several options to chose from under the Shortcut Schemes: at the bottom of the dialog box. This is something that PS didn't have to my recollection. It has been several years since I have used PS.

Hey Sara, love your art, your skills, and your friendly way of explaining how you work and use Krita. I noticed a few small things in this video that aren't completely correct though, hope you don't mind me pointing them out, maybe somebody can benefit from it. 1. The DPI, or dots per inch (or dots per cm), are not really important. they don't make your image bigger or print better. This is a common misconception. The only thing that limits how big you can print your image before it gets "sawtooth edges" is the amount of pixels in your image. the whole dots per inch/cm is in essence just an aid to help visualize how big an image will print by default. For example, if you have a 2400x2400 pixel image and set DPI to 600, you will print at 4x4 inches. If you set DPI to 300, you will print at 8x8 inches. You probably know this, except that it has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the actual image. It's just a way to set the scale for printing, which you can usually override in your printer settings anyway. 2. CMYK and RGB are both color models that partly overlap each other. You probably know this as well, but the way you describe it in the video made me think it wasn't completely clear. There are other color models around that encompass both RGB and CMYK (LAB I think?) RGB has some colors that CMYK doesn't have and vice versa. This has to do with CMYK mixing ink, while RGB mixes light (add equal red, green and blue as light and you get white, add equal cyan, magenta, yellow and black, and you get... well... a mushy blackish color) The problems between CMYK and RGB come when you pick a color from one colorspace that does not exist in the other one, and then switch to that other one. For instance, if you pick a certain green in RGB that does not exist in CMYK, when you switch color mode to CMYK, the program will switch to the nearest green that DOES exist in CMYK. You can avoid this by always working with colors that exist BOTH in RGB AND CMYK. Maybe there is a colorspace for that as well, not sure. You could make a pallet of color swatches for a project that exist in both RGB and CMYK, and just use those swatches. If I remember correctly, that means you wouldn't have to worry about those color modes again. Again, love your work, keep at it!

I love KRITA. Before I was still using Microsoft Image Composer. Yes, that almost 20 year old program! ;-D I just coloured in and adapted scans of handdrawn pictures. MIC has some great feautures still that many other free programs over the years never had. So it is still a great program to use, though it is very difficult to get these days and you sometimes need to get an extra DLL to make sure it works on your system. I never had and used PhotoShop. But ever since I got myself a pen-tablet 2 years ago orso now, I needed a program that suited my needs. After a search and trying out several programs, such as GIMP,... I finally found KRITA and I love it! It must be the best free program out there, IMHO. I am a slow learner though. I been using it for 2 years now and only just gotten around to slowly starting to use filters and such, as I felt I was missing something. But, I am slowly improving my skills and the most important thing for me is having fun anyway. The most difficult thing, and why it took me a while to really start using KRITA fulltime,... is because I had a very hardtime getting used to drawing on a tablet, as I missed that feeling of drawing on paper. But it turns out the tablet I use (a WACOM Intuous) had several points to use. I was using the plastic pointer, prior me finding out there is actually a rubber one hidden in the penholder! ROFL. Ever since I started using the rubber pointer, I finally am starting to get that feeling again, I get when drawing on paper and my KRITA drawing skills have been improving ever since. So besides software... getting to know your hardware and to figure out what hardware best suits your personal needs (I tried out several tablets over the years)... is very important as well. Ive been thinking of getting a full screen sized tablet PC, but they are very expensive. But for now the WACOM Intuous seems to do the job just fine. If you have time for more tutorials Sara... perhaps you can do one about the filter options and such and how you use them and when. That would a great help for a person like me, because of my mental handicap (autism), I learn more from watching someone do things... then actually trying to figure it out myself. That is why when I try to teach myself things... it takes me forever... but when I see other people do things, I pick it up much quicker. It is probably also why I had been using Microsoft Image Composer for almost twenty years... because I was so used to it I couldnt imagine using something else. I sometimes still use it though... when I need to make a quick and simple meme. And thanks for the vid... I like your channel.

I'm new-ish to Krita. Played with it a bit now and then over the last few years, but drawing is impossible with just a mouse. Now I have acquired a graphics tablet and pen and want to get serious about illustrating, cartooning, making textures and detail graphics for 3D animations. Yours is one of the best intros for know-nothing nitwits like me! Especially, that Transform tool does everything in one tool, even shears. I probably wouldn't have discovered that on my own for a long time.

You have grown so much as an artist, as a youtuber, and as a community and one of the best ways to attract new subs and clients is to offer guidance to people that want to make for themselves the work that you are capable of, not in the sense of copyright but they want to learn and to be taught. I have been trying to learn KRITA for months and have found no good mentors for the program yet. Hopefully you will see this is and consider it.

This video has been very helpful! I just got a tablet and am starting from scratch with drawing and figured i'd start with a tablet since this age has become very inclined on digital art since it's convenient and easier to save works. I'm curious to know if you can tell me how to put in an image or have a background image to kind of use as reference or work over. I know a lot of artists will start with a rough sketch and have it show in the background and work over it as another layer. I'm not sure if you covered that. I'm trying to get used to drawing from reference to get the hang of anatomy and poses. I know that programs like Photoshop have a way for you to have a background layer that you can trace or work over kind of like having a skeleton in the background and drawing the body over it. I also have run into either a bug or issue with Krita. I don't know if it's just a random thing or maybe something I accidentally caused by a function or something. It's happened to me both times i've tried doodling or using Krita. But when I'm drawing or what not in the program after some time my stylus and tablet won't register on the program. My cursor doesn't move via the stylus and the buttons on the tablet don't do anything either. But when I alt tab or minimize the program and do something on my desktop or on another program/web page my stylus works and the cursor works fine. I don't know if it's a bug but i've tried closing out the program and reopening it and once I get into the program the same thing happens. My tablet shows that my stylus is working and it's reading it but it's not working in the program.

Btw, you also spoke of RAM and video card, i have 8 GB of RAM (DDR3) and a Radeon HD 6670, it's quite basic, not to mention old, hehe... but i think that should be enough for 2D works, right? I haven't read through all the comments to see if anyone else mentioned this, but if you are using Windows, there is another thing you can do to ensure that there are minimal processes running in the background. Many programs you install put in an auto launch 'feature' that loads them in the background when you log on - you will be surprised at what is in there. - Go to the Start menu, click 'Run' (or Windows key + R) and type MSCONFIG (hit enter) - If you are in the know, you are using a 'regular' user account and you will be prompted to elevate to an admin account, enter your admin credentials (if not, I HIGHLY recommend taking the time to do this - most viruses etc get on Windows machines because people are always on an admin account!) - Go to the 'Startup' tab - Uncheck boxes for programs that you know you don't need to run at Startup (AcroTray, Steam, Citrix Client, Horizon View etc). Be VERY careful at what you uncheck. If you are uncertain what something is, Google it. You might also discover software that you might not want installed living (and running on startup!!) on your computer... - Close the MSCONFIG window - Reboot Every little bit of compute power helps, especially for any Windows OS :) P.S. - If you are a gamer, go to the SYSTRAY in the bottom right next to the time and make sure Steam is closed! lol - its a pig. Thanks for the info Sara!
