Perfect information as always. It's so important to not only do the research and learn what enclosure size you need for an adult snake, but take into consideration its individual personality, as you mentioned. Some ball pythons do like to roam around and explore, it's not typical behavior but it'd be nice for that one to have a big enough enclosure to let it do that. :)

유채린 E.L.F if you can't afford a vivarium use a rub, a 8-12 litre one should do for 1 year or a 18 litre rub at most(make sure it has length but height as well) I use one for my baby corn and it works just fine, upgrading to a vivarium this Christmas though, I'm not an expert or anything but you can keep snakes in rubs, many breeders and snake lovers use them. Just thought I would reply to help as many people as I can when it comes to corns :)

유채린 E.L.F and yeah research is important, I'm 16 now but since I was 13 and maybe even 10 I was interested in them, I've been researching on and of for 3 years but 3 months research is enough, all you really need to research for snakes is the humidity, food, temperatures, vivarium and the snakes usual temperament.

Hi, I have a question! I have loved snakes since a very early age and I was 2 when I held one for the first time. My favourite breed of snake is definitely the Ball Python, and when I found your channel I subscribed instantly. I created a private small playlist of your videos on Ball pythons for my parents and I have almost managed to convince my parents to buy me a 2 year old male one! The only problem is I have two small dogs (they are jack Russell terriers), and my parents are worried the snake will get out of its terrarium and the dogs will find him. Do you have any advice on keeping a snake safe from other pets? Thank you xx

I'm thinking about getting my first ball python tried do some research but would like your expert opinion I've hear some people say a heating pad is fine without a heat pad? others say you need both? also if you do need both do they stay on all the day and night? Also other people say you need different watts for lamps not 100 but smaller also some people say you should invest on a automatic thermostat for the humidity instead of a water bottle? and last question I have is I've heard a male can be in a 20 gallon tank but a female needs a 40 any nfo on these question will be really helpful thanks.
@JossersJungle7 жыл бұрын
Hi Sky! That's a lot of questions, I'll do my best to answer all of them! I can totally understand why you want a ball python, they are amazing creatures and quite unique. In my experience (!!) ball pythons thrive best in smaller terrariums, a 30 gallon will do just fine for both male and female adults, unless the female is a bit bigger thant the average you might want to step up to the 40. I use heat mats to keep the temperature correct in my terrarium. I do have a constant room temperature around 25-26 C in my reptile room and the heat mat is placed in one side of the terrarium, making sure the ball python has a heat spot. I turn off the heat mat during the night and turn it on in the morning, I use a timer so it works automatically. I can definitely recommend that! For the humidity I use the waterbowl only, that is more than enough to keep it at the right level for me. I do mist the hide during their shed, raising the humidity a little to help them get the shed off nicely. I hope I answered all your questions, otherwise feel free to write me again! Best! :-)

I have a 35 gallon tank for my 1 year old ball python. (About 270 grams and 60cm long) do you think it’s too big for her?
@metaknight115 Жыл бұрын
There’s no such thing as an enclosure that’s too big, that’s a stupid myth. They’re scared of open spaces, not large enclosures. Even if it’s “too big”, add some clutter in the enclosure and your ball python will be fine.

This may be a stupid question, but when you talk about gallon tank is this US or Imperial gallons thanks.

Hello. I have a question and I'm not sure which video to comment on. My snake has been pushing on areas of his cage with his nose. He does it so much that he gets bruising. Right now he is in the middle of a shed and he doesn't do this when he is shedding. His face heals after he sheds but I'm just afraid he will continue doing this and I hate seeing him do it. I was wondering if you could reply back with a tip? I have been changing things in his life and have learned some things that help for a while at least. He never causes permanent damage but I still don't like it. Thanks.

Generally fish tanks are not recommended because they don't have good enough ventilation, but they can work just fine if you make sure plenty of air can through the lid, example by building a new one with lots of airholes :-)

hi! i just ordered a blue eyed lucy but i'm a bit confused with heating. will he be okay with one large heat pad that covers the whole floor? should i also have a basking light in one side?
@JossersJungle7 жыл бұрын
Samantha Cravinhos Hi Samantha As good rule the heating mat should cover max 1/3 of the terrarium, depending on the size of the snake and terrarium. No basking spot is needed, ball pythons can get stressed with too much light. The terrarium needs to be warm in one side and cold in the other, allowing the snake to regualte their body temperature. Remember the heat mat should not go inside the terrarium, but underneath it. I would recommend you to do some research before getting your BEL, have a look at some different care sheet on google! Good luck to both of you :-)

Fiona Shepley you again -_- xD so a male tank should be 4 feet and for a female 6 feet? May i see your tank?
@fionashepley4785 жыл бұрын
Jose_xForward Jose_xForward many females don’t get six feet long, although a 6ft tank would be awesome. But yes, a 4ft tank or longer would be fine. I do not have a ball python myself, but before you say anything I have worked with many ball pythons so I have plenty of experience, and I know several ball python keepers who use 75g or 4x2x2 enclosures. A 4ft Christmas tree tub (what I use for my corn) is super cheap and would work fine for a beep.

walker esquibel I've just started out as a snake owner and am loving it so much so far, I do want to get another one in a year or so and want to get either anther corn snake or a boa, would you recommended a boa to date a beginner/intermediate owner(i don't know if that's the word)? Current am using a 8 or 12 litre rub for my corn and this year upgrading to a 3.5foot vivarium. I hardly have room(I do for 1 vivarium) so I don't know if it's safe to have another 3.5/4foot vivarium on top of another one with a snake in it.
@walkeresquibel12607 жыл бұрын
faynts i would recommend getting a boa! The only thing is they grow to be anywhere from 10 feet and in rare cases 12 feet. So you have to have the space. My girl is only 3 and is pushing 4 and 1/2 - 5 feet, so they do grow pretty quickly and that's something you should keep in mind.

@JossersJungle7 жыл бұрын
Ace Dunscombe Leave her alone to settle in, giver her some good feeding making her comfortable, able to destress. And after 3-4 weeks of steady food and rest you can try to handle her 2-3 times a week for a couple of minutes. Up until they are 6 months it's their instinct kicking in, they think you are a threat. They will get used to you eventually :-)

Okay my 2 close friends and I really wanna do a pet for all of us. I have a couple reptiles, and so do they. We want to get a milk snake, and pass it around each 2-3 months.. same cage size, and close to the same set up. It would kind of be like a class pet, but between the three of us. I just wanna know if you think this would be an okay thing to do?:)) Thanks:))

I feel like a minimum for corn snakes should be 40 gallon, not 20. Thank you for the video though! Very informative 😊

I have a tiny question, could I house a Ball Python in plastic clear tub? I’m pretty sure that as long as the cage fits the health requirements of the snake is doesn’t matter. I just want to make sure with you because you seem like you know a lot of your info, baste on this, I feel like I can rely on you. I’m also sorry if you’ve already gone over this, and now have to go over it again. I truly love your channel, btw I subscribed. Have a nice day, or night.

Hi! Yes - you can just as easily house them in a plastic tub. I house 2 of my hatchling in a plastic tub. They will do just perfect in that. I have made a video of that too if you are interested in watching that :-) kzbin.info/www/bejne/oovRdpuIe5Z1mpI

Hi! I just recently found your channel. I am planning to get a snake soon but I would only be able ti feed her/him pre killed chickens or parts of chickens while it's still small. What kind of snake do you think would be a nice snake for a beginner like me in this case? ( sorry English is not my first language )
@JossersJungle7 жыл бұрын
Hi Lex! Sounds so exciting that you are getting your first snake! I usually recommend corn snake as a beginners snake, but I have made a video called "Top 5 beginners snakes". In that one I go indepth with 5 different species I think are good beginners snake, you can take a look at that if you'd like. I would recommend feeding mice and rats to your snake along with the chicken. I hope the video will answer your questions! :-)

Oh my life! You replied! Thank you so so much! ❤️ I watched that video as well and loved it! You did such a great job in explaining everything. :) Thing is, where I live, we don't have pre killed rodents. :( I could never feed life rodents to my snake because I love most rodents so much. Do you think it would be a bad idea for me to feed only poultry to the snake? If so, I would not keep one because I don't want to end up being a crappy keeper.hehehe

Of'course, I'm here to help! I can't say for sure about the chicken, I have no experience with feeding only chickens, since mice/rats are the most common diet for snakes in captivity. If I were you, I would ask that question in some forums or on reptile facebook groups, you might be lucky to find some with experience there :-)

When you're using Newspaper as "bedding" for your ball python, how does it do with Humidity? Im wondering because i'll be using Newspaper if my granny lets me get a Ball python, and i want to make sure i know the best way to keep the humidity right for my snake. I know bedding CAN make a difference with it, that's why im asking you.

can i keep ball pythons together in the same enclosure for example can i keep my 3 year old ball python with my 6 month old ball python.??? I've heard different answers but would prefer yours :)
@JossersJungle7 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't recommend it. It can cause stress and they might attack each other :-)
