Running a battery pack to run the camera involves hooking up a cable to the camera but with a standard tripod mount there isn't room to insert the cable. I'm a Sacramento photographer and few days ago my friend game me Insta 360 X camera and said I can play with settings and create cool video. So I took it to one of the homes that my client is buying and shoot virtual tour thru matterport app, but quality of details just wasn't there. I really didn't want to spend $1,800 on used Matterport camera, so after research I finally found out that Ricoh Z1 might be it! And thanks to your video, I see several sample hoses. Hi Rich, FYI. I shot for the first time with the Theta Z1 using the "Time Shift" plugin. I was outside on a sunny day trying to use it in manual mode. The fastest shutter speed I could select was 1/60th. Even at f5.6 and ISO 80, I couldn't get close to the exposure needed. I gave up and hid the best I could and will retouch my hat sticking up from the trashcan... :-0. When I returned home and tested it in a less stressful environment, I discovered that in any of the automatic modes, it would shoot as fast as needed. That's nice but then I cannot assure myself that the exposure will be consistent over the course of a set of images. I have sent an info request to Ricoh and am waiting for a response. Have you had any experience with this issue? Thanks for your clear posts.!

It's decision day for me. The Ricoh Theta Z1 remains unavailable, I need a 360 camera for virtual tours, I'm an image quality junkie, Qoocam 8k or Xphase pro S? It would be nice to have video capability so that leads to The Qoocam 8k but Xphase Pro S resolution has me wanting it. I'm guess that the Qoocam may have fewer issues in post because of the color cast problems with the Xphase Pro S. Any help, please? BTW, I'll be ordering a Nodal Ninja 6 for my Sony A7R3 as well.

Gary Sanchez unfortunately if your a pixel peeper you might not like any offerings aside from a DSLR or a $3500 Matterport camera I can suggest maybe a coaching session which might help you better understand the difference. @@RichBaum Yes, I'll use my Sony A7R3 and a Nodal Ninja 6 pano head but I still want a good 360 camera for small rooms and low priced properties that do not justify the DSLR workflow on site. If only the Ricoh Theta Z1 would become available again.

Have you found a workaround for this? (the Facebook share button within Cloudpano doesn't help with this as won't publish to someone else's facebook page.)

Property Snappers honestly I don’t think any tour provider ( CP/ MP) can work with the FB platform. I’d like to know if anyone has good solid info on this situation. So I don’t think it’s a CP thing but more a FB thing. Same thing with Instagram.

I'm thinking of getting one, but I'm very concerned about editing the fisheye photos in Lightroom/Photoshop. With my drone, I'd stitch 33 photos together, so it was really easy to edit me out of the photos and clone the dirt/grass, etc. But i'm afraid that sphere effect will make it really difficult to edit me out. I know Theta hosting can put a logo at the bottom, but I don't host my panos in Theta, so I have to come up with my own way to edit me out if I can't run and hide while taking the picture.

Hi Rich, Thanks for doing this video. I have a different 360 camera now and the windows are bright blue and color casts are horrific (no hdr capabilities) do you find that with the Z1 or was it pretty good color wise? I saw the link to the tours you made and on one I saw you had desaturated some windows/rooms completely and I’m guessing that’s why but on the other it looks like you didn’t at all. I’m just wondering if an upgrade is needed to avoid this! Thank you!

Samantha Watson Photography thanks for the kind words. Honestly I feel it’s a balance of quality vs time and I’m fine with the quality overall. Some rooms are worse than others but as I’m teaching my coaching students it’s really easy to shoot in HDR mode and do basic edits in Lightroom. There is one thing for viewers to take note with the Theta: When you charge up the battery the unit gets turned on. When you unplug the charging cord the unit remains on. When you are charging you usually have that neoprene condom on so when you unplug the charging cord you are not aware the the unit is still on. Fast forward say three hours: you've loaded up your camera bag, driven to the shoot, done the interior shoot, done the exteriors, maybe a drone shot or three, all the while the agent is walking about the home turning on all the lights for the 3D shoot. And you finally pull out the Theta Z...and the battery is dead! This has happened to me twice. Don't let it happen to you. After charging, take off the condom and press the button to turn the thing off!

Hi Rich. Thanks for the video on the Z1. Sounds like you have pretty much jumped in the 360 pool with the Z1! Good stuff for sure! Also, great lead on Cloud Pano and the Bushman MonoPod! I visited the Cloud Pano website and it was not immediately clear to me that their service offers a few "must-haves" similar to Matterport or EyeSpy360. Given your experience with them to this point, can I beg your indulgence on the following questions: 1) Is there a way to pull 2D stills out of the panos using their app? 2) Is there hosting environment capable of a single property website; hosts not only their 360 tours, but also stills and video (presumably via embed code, or URL re-direct, from KZbin or Vimeo), floor plans, etc.? 3) On the latter, floor plans, their website talked about it very briefly under Features, but it didn't really say whether/if they supported floor plan creation in their app, or if I still needed to use one of my regular vendors (Cubi.Casa, Homes3DS, or Captur3d) for that purpose. Sorry to drone on with this. I have emailed the Cloud Pano on these same questions, so just wanting to cut the corner and ask if you know about these items from the perspective of a service provider vs. the usual company marketing. Thanks very much for getting back to me when you get a minute. I appreciate the info in advance!

I was looking at the Matterport, so glad I watched your video. This has changed my mind mainly because of the hosting with Matterport. Thank you for the great video. John

Matterport will produce better 360 quality but for the money and time the Ricoh works great and my clients like the price

Rich- how do you download and work on these photos or does it all just go straight to Zillow like the Walkthroughs do?
@RichBaum5 жыл бұрын
If i use the Zillow App it goes directly to Zillow, No ability to edit.. But it's fast and easy
@garysanchezphotography4 жыл бұрын
In the Zillow virtual tour, how did you eliminated the reflection of the camera in the master bathroom?
@RichBaum4 жыл бұрын
Glad you bring that up.. My trick is to lower the camera just below the top of the cabinet... Works like a charm.

Rich, thank you for this valuable info! Do you happen to have any tips on getting a 2D and/or 3D floorplan off of the Theta scan, by chance?
Great video and very informative. I see that your website is wix. Does cloudpano integrate with Wix? Not just "white label".

You can also get Insta 360 One X - way cheaper than Ricoh Theta Z1 but the quality is comparable and it has replaceable battery and micro SD card.

I've been watching Ben Claremont's channel for a few weeks and recently subscribed to Cloudpano's free account. So interesting that I now see you (who I have followed for a couple of years) getting into 360 tours and mentioning these two as well as the Theta Z1, which I'm also looking at. Question: Today Ben Claremont published a YT story about tips for getting exposure and dynamic range just right. In most cases he has to edit the images. How do you accomplish all of your post production plus labeling hot spots in Cloudpano in 15 minutes? Do you edit your Z1's images or just use them out-of-camera? As a Matterport photographer, I LOVE that you don't have to shoot a picture every six feet in Cloudpano (along with other benefits compared to Matterport), but at least with Matterport there is no time spent in post production other than uploading (and the results from the big camera are stunning).

I only do minor edit and shoot HDR / JPEG to save time.. and now it's taking me about 20 minuted to post a tour but I plan to get that time down soon to about 10-15 minutes

Don't use HDR mode if it's windy as any movement will ghost..

hi rich. thanks for all your sharing. i'm looking for a good 360 camera for real estate virtual tours and one that does HDR in camera. my samsung 360 just isn't cutting it. everything is point me to the theta z1. except when i see HDR samples, i'm not impressed. the tour you provide in the notes, are those using the HDR mode? take a look at the 'hallway' photo. the dynamic range, (lack of) color, and clarity are all quite poor. any thoughts on this? *i'm only using the 'hallway' photo as a talking point. some other photos seem a little better.....just not $1,000 camera better. ***no need to respond, rich. we touched base on FB. thx!
@RichBaum5 жыл бұрын
Since this video I am only using HDR mode for Real Estate and it renders the best results IMO but It helps to edit in Lightroom and add some contrast de haze and sharpening to cut that HDR look.

I don't get it.. why would you waste your time with that? Hire a bunch of kids to run around at $10/hr tell them to stand in every room and press a button and become a manager if you want to deal with crappy photography.

360s for me will be an “Add On” As I’m already shooting the house / business I can add on a 360. As it only takes 10 minutes to shoot a house it’s fast and easy and I don’t need to hire someone for this. This will be a “Value Added” and not a stand alone. Already my clients are happy I can add this and that’s great for my overall business.
