Matterport Ricoh Theta Z1 walkthrough of a 2,053 sq ft house.

Nice work showcasing your skills using the Z1 with Matterport. It's a very capable combo considering you can shoot with an iPad and iPhone as well as other inferior quality 360s. I'm impressed!

I shot with the z1 for awhile a couple of yeara ago. It worked great outside, which is why I used it. I use the pro2 for indiside scans and the z1 for outdisse scans occaisionally connecting multiple propertie, and it was then assembled as one model, the the viewer could "walk" from one area to another. I stopped using it because Matterport was begining their cruch on Classic plans and were chargin $38.00 if it The Z1 was used during a model model. It was certainly fast, but at the time anyway,It also shot 360 degress all at once, so it was impossible to hide from if scanning in an open area. Does Z1/Matterport still shot the same? I vaguely recall there being some sort of delay available, so the person scanning could just move 180 degrees instead of trying to find the nearest tree or run inside a building, but Matterport didn't implement it.

ah yeah so part of the problem with using the 360 cameras is that you can't "hide" when using matterports app. myself and my photographers only use pro2's and pro3's, partly for this reason, easy to stand behind the camera. We do a lot of high end commercial, hospitality, industrial spaces and the 360 cameras are not used at all and actually frowned upon by the clients.

The "Time shift" worked on the Z1 as well, but not with Capture. The same held true with being able to take control of scans - white balance etc, but MP disabled or didn't implement that functionality either.

the matterport system itself configures theta z1. As a result, images are lighter than they should be. They boycott Z1.

Hello.. How do you do color correction after scanning? Can the files be processed in Photoshop or Lightroom

Great video I'm new to the industry and exploring the tools I have to be honest to tell you I just watched her one using your cell phone and to be frank your cell phone looked better in many ways than this is the one which cost almost $1,000. At that price you might as well go for the full lidar system for $2600. M2 camera when it talks about active spaces. In its pricing is an active space considered an entire home.

thanks! I only used the z1 for testing/comparison purposes. I have several Pro3 and pro 2 cameras that we offer 3D tours with. active space is 1 tour (so yes, an entire home if you scan the entire home in one tour).

@@sparksmediagroup yes thanks I spoke to their technical support and they agreed that the free version should have allowed me to scan my entire home but as I said after four scans he told me that there was no more space available. I was shooting the still images at 200 megapixels since my Samsung s24 allows that quality I thought it would be better the size difference between standard 12 megapixel and 200 megapixel photos was not very large the 12 megapixel or about 11 Mt and the 200 megapixel pictures more about 20 MB so those sizes to me still seem very small. The technical support team stated I should try again. I am not too thrilled so far with the reliability of this software but I will give it another try.

I have a Ricoh Theta Z1 and took some pictures of a house. With this pictures i can upload to Matterport and have similar results or i necesarely have to scan the house with the matterport app connected to the Ricoh Cam?. Thank you very much.

Matterport has just release the ability to import 360s... I haven't tested this yet, try it :)

I think it only imports 360 photos within Matterport Capture. It is not possible to import isolated 360 photos.

No, you can not import 360 images to create 3D map.

question would the Ricoh Theta SC2 be as good as the Z1 ... debating on which one to buy being the Z1 much more expensive

I've seen some crooked verticals with these and noticed that it's often on a tripod without a head. Is it not prudent to do these scans with a tripod head to make sure it's level?

Ive never used a ball head or other leveling device when using the theta z1... Matterport says they'll fix level a bit... but I try to get it as close as possible.

Can you use the Matterport App also with an InstaX 360? Or is there an cheaper alternative for such 3D ground plans?

if you want a matterport tour you have to use the matterport app, no way around it. if you just need floorplans only check services like Home3ds (scan app on ios) or Cubicasa (ios/android)

Is there any option to restrict the zoom level where the viewer can not zoom further? The quality on this camera is probably not like the one of a DSLR, so zooming in into a noisy picture wouldn’t be that nice.

Are you able to help me out? I have the same setup (although an older iPad) and my scans take WAY longer than yours! I also never knew you could move the camera around before it aligns? What’s the timing for moving the camera while it hasn’t aligned yet? Also how do your scans go so quickly? I usually need to wait 1-2 minutes for it to align - a simple 950 sqft (around 30 scans) home took me 45 minutes earlier this week … Pls help!!

you're not hiding too far from the camera, or having too many walls in between camera + your iPad, right? I noticed that was slowing me down, so I didnt hide too far and it went quicker

I hate that when you align exactly you want it but it doesnt want you to. I have the matterport 2 But anyways! everytime i align, it sucks i have to delete my previous scan and scan again and in my head im like “why are you there!!!! I didnt scan you there i scanned you here! “ 😅 I really got the hang of it in just 5 days from training last year and i used it for 6 months now and i really like it. Better than sketching it. Right?

you can compare the same house with both (link in description).. but I think I prefer the insta 360 1 rs one inch.

Dollhouse doesnt look best in final render. maybe for backyards and streets always better just shoot only 360 photos and pin out of dollhouse
