Fabulous tutorial! It's great that you included fixing the errors, because we all make them and you showed how it's no big deal to correct them. Carrying yarn in crochet isn't easy at first but with a little practice can be really fun and offers so many different creative choices. For your viewers who are interested, there is a Facebook page: Mochica Bags, dedicated to this beautiful style of crochet. You always bring fresh and exciting ideas to the table. Thanks for being such an inspiring teacher!

Beautiful. Thanks for teaching us something new. I think it was good that you didn't edit out your mistakes since you explained what you did wrong. That helps us recognize if we make the same mistake.

This reminds me of Scandinavian Color Work. I think that if your interested in learning this technique, choose a larger item to begin with so you can get the tension correct. Great job Mikey!!

I don't see well enough to work with really small hooks anymore, but I used some regular worsted 3 years ago to make 2 cat beds. I used a non stretch cord for the filler and topped each row with crab stitch. This made it stand up and not loose it's shape. I went one step further and made a bag with a 2 color design , also out of worsted but with the smallest hook I could work with (F)and pulled each stitch tight (no crab stitch between). The carrier cord and the other color yarn stayed out of sight, and that bag has gone through hell and back and hasn't stretched, sagged or threatened to loose it's shape in the 2 years I have been abusing...erm I mean using it. Now I am inspired to try a 4 color pattern! I may still have to add a non stretch cord to the mix, but there are really thin blind cords that will work. Thank you for the hints, tips and referral to Marion. Love you!

This is so gorgeous, I’m so excited to give it a shot! Honestly seems like the perfect technique for me. Im used to small hooks and tight tension. Plus I tend to get bored just going around and around when I’m usually making bags lol

It looks very similar to tight amigurumi, I crochet dolls that stand up due to the tightness. I also crochet birds carrying the yarn & I am going try the back loop method because sometimes the colours show through. Thanks for a great tutorial. I would recommend that you have the background colour running up each side of the pattern to help hide the jogs.

I've found that when I carry multiple strands, pulling each one separately helps keep them from showing through. As lovely as this is I think I'll skip this, I'd end up trying my fingers into knots!

This is wayuu crochet. It’s usually done with thin yarn like this. I don’t know of #3 or #4 weights that resemble the properties that this concept needs.

@TheCrochetCrowd
@TheCrochetCrowd 3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure. You are looking for the thin mercerized cotton or hemp for this concept. There was Hempster but it was discontinued. If you look up Marion Verloop, she's from Europe and has brands she recommends for this concept just in case North American brands are out of reach for you.
