This video introduced me to Intronaut about 5-6 years ago and after listening to their whole discography, I keep coming back to "Core Relations". It is simply one of the best songs I have heard since then.

Incredible song, incredible band. Thank you Intronaut!

I love this band. I've noticed that most criticism comes from comparison to other bands or expectations of vocals. That's never been what these guys are about. Say what you will about the vocals... these guys are experimenting and have their own sound and that's hard to achieve in an era when any jackass with a few bucks can get on youtube with whatever garbage they cobble together
@matthewhurley44559 жыл бұрын
Not to mention like, honestly harsh vocals in metal are so fucking boring anymore. Intronaut actually made themselves more unique yet simultaneously more accessible by switching to clean vocals.
@lobster2729 жыл бұрын
Matthew Hurley I don't think they intended to make themselves more accessible. I think they just wanted to try something different. The new vocal style definitely lends itself well to the stoner vibe they give off.
@matthewhurley44559 жыл бұрын
It wasn't their intent but they've definitely only gotten more popular since doing so.

I really like this channel. Helps EMG to market their shit in unoffensive manner, gives us great (seemingly) non-edited live videos, bands get exposure and occasional internet angry people get an opportunity to fling some shit. This is winning on every front if you ask me.

JettyLife23 probably the closest to old mastodon you'll ever come across. But East of the Wall and Intronaut sound nearly identical. Check out the Apologist album.

They're both wonderful singers live, I think this song's harmonies are just a btt difficult to sync up. Every vocalist has trouble find the right pitch occasionally, and it's twice as hard when there are two. Sometimes it's hard to tell who's correct when they're both trying to compensate. Regardless, I've seen them live and they were fucking amazing.

I have such conflicting feelings about this band. they are one of my all time favorite bands. At times i wish that they would get the widespread acclaim they have deserved for YEARS.... but then again i like that they are a bit obscure because that allows them to play perfect, intimate shows at smaller venues like St. Vitus in Brooklyn (one of the best shows I have ever been to)
@ThyAsianMan9 жыл бұрын
+K.J B I've never been to an Intronaut concert (maybe in the future!), but I completely agree with ya. Small, intimate metal concerts are great. I couldn't imagine going to a festival like download or any one of those big concerts because there's no intimacy at all!
@LautloseLebwerwurst30008 жыл бұрын
+K.J B For me, they could at least get so popular that they're coming to Europe one day. Currently, they're only touring through Canada and the U.S. and that sucks a bit, but oh well...

My favourite Intronaut track here. Anybody know what the song is about? I know Valley of Smoke is about past events in LA.
@matthewhurley44559 жыл бұрын
A race of "lizard people" who lived underground in LA 5,000 years ago according to Hopi legend. Apparently remains of their civilization were found underground in LA back in the 30s. The entire lyrical concept for each song on Valley of Smoke is on their website actually.

People who complain about the vocals either have no idea how to stay in tune and don’t know how to sing. And two don’t know how to properly play an Instrument to know how good they sound. I had to say it.
@Hue_Nery7 жыл бұрын
Part of the reason people are having trouble with the vocals is that they are intentionally dissonant. You either get it or you don't Think Mongolian throat singing.

@PinkAsAPistol10 жыл бұрын
Trouble is, they're not singing. In the past their vocals would have been growls in such a song. Now, they want to clean up their vocals, but instead of creating melodic lines, they just sing a steady note at the pitch of the chord the tune is in. Because that would be too obviously blah, the other guy harmonizes on that, as if that would trick the listener into finding this interesting. It's tiresome and does not add anything to the song. Which is a shame because they would have been a great band if they found a way around this problem.
