I'm actually a bit surprised to hear people disliking the vocals. They're very organic and raw unlike many modern bands' vocals and they're quite well done. This video also proves that they have no problem pulling them off and getting their voices to mesh together well live. I like it a lot!
@OrpheusVA
@OrpheusVA 9 жыл бұрын
+Kasey Porter people tend to like being spoon fed with only the cleanest, clearest vocals... which is weird to me, since this is metal, and you know, like you said, organic and raw is its' thing.

it's not that they suck, it's that every part they sing in most of the songs sounds exactly the same. so for me it tends to get boring

I'm in love with the bass player. He's an incredibly skilled player, and has quite possibly (in my opinion) the best bass tone I've ever heard. It sits so well in the mix and compliments the music perfectly. The musicianship in this band is outstanding, but it's always nice to see a skillful bass player who really shines.

id say its the amp, for bass guitar you need the sound of a tube amp. all the nicely compressed tight low end and movement in the room comes from the tubes. check ampeg-amps if you are searching for some high quality stuff.
@ChristopherRoss.
@ChristopherRoss. 9 жыл бұрын
+ZodiacMeatgrinder I disagree. Not that tubes sound bad, but the best sounding amp I've ever heard is the GK2001RB, a tubeless amp. With bass (because its rare that you overdrive it through the amp--at least in my experience), the characteristics of the head (tube vs diode, for example) are less staggering than on a guitar head. Each have their pros and cons, but neither is the "only viable choice", so to speak.
@ChristopherRoss.
@ChristopherRoss. 9 жыл бұрын
+VICEGIRLS And to answer your question, I think the main ingredient to his tone is that he's playing a fretless. They tend to have that sound to them. The pickups and amp head will also play into the tone shape to a lesser degree.

I don't know who you've been listening to, as far as people's "insinuations". But I don't hear anyone referencing Tool as an influential part of their music. Don't worry or give a shit about what other people say. If anyone were to say that to me I wouldn't say anything but just shake my head in disdain at how arrogant, ignorant and stupid that person is for saying such things. Plus if Tool was an influence in Intronaut's music why does that matter? Tool is and always will be incredibly fucking badass. Why not be influenced by greatness?
@JediMobius
@JediMobius 10 жыл бұрын
Lol. I love that! But yeah, people will compare anything rhythmically different to Tool if it lives anywhere outside of the 4-4 time signature, as if Tool invented syncopation. Blame radio.

Tool actually lifted a lot of their shit from King Crimsons album "Red". And don't get me wrong Tool was the band that got me into this type of music, but just saying, nothing is really original and hardcore Tool fans who think every other remotely similar band ripped them off need to learn that.
