Use of Realia & Authentic Materials - International TEFL Academy

I really love the idea of using Realia in the classroom. In most of my foreign language classes we did not do this but I feel like I would have learned so much faster if we did. Our brains are super interconnected so when we learn not only with our ears and eyes but with our bodies by speaking and touching objects, it makes stronger connections and helps us learn faster.

it is amazing when learners use realia. When they can smell, feel or taste the real objects the learning process is deep and meaningful. huge thanks.

Thank you for this lesson! 🤗👍 And I agree entirely! In my experience as both a student and assistant teacher, I find that having the actual objects or relevant objects alongside the lessons is a very effective method! Many of us students would learn things faster or better, if we could get more hands-on with authentic/realia items.
