I like the Jack hammer because it vibrates quicker in start up and while super slow rolling it! Also Tubes are phenomenal plastics!
@The_Mortgage_Angler3 жыл бұрын
I agree I have no idea how that aspect of it is not mention. slow rolling a chaterbait is only possible with jackhammer effectively,which is why I prefer it. Sure the cheaper works but anyway I'll leave at that.

My bro and I were fishIng a team tourney on the Cal Delta. A ski boat made a clockwise turn in a slough to turn around. We were traveling on the right side, but the skier decided to roost us anyways. Blood boiled and pleasantries were exchanged. Also, I could have caught a skier a spinnerbait once when he tried to roost me while I was fishing...but since I'm such a nice guy, I stopped the trajectory at the last second. A white spinnerbait with double willows:)

Love chatterbaits and agree on the Jackhammer v Evo. I run Evos and the minis when it calls for it. Just smacked a smallmouth yesterday in very brown water conditions on a white ⅜ Evo with a pearl white trailer. So much flexibility on these lures in regards to how you can present them. If you don't fish them you should.

Great advice I’m definitely going to try that tomorrow on the water. but I will say the lake I moved to 2 years ago has proven the Jackhammer for me. I know it’s expensive but on this particular lake (yes I’ve experimented with them all) the Jackhammer shines. When the Chatterbait bite is “on” I get 3:1 jackhammer: any other (even custom made) they are expensive but effective

Randy if u don't wanna have to deal with having to put a worm in every time u put on a new tube. Just try some of the kietech tubes they are completely solid. An actually are meant to be rigged without a stupid tube jig but u can still get that stupid tube action because. The head of the bait is a little more denser then rest of body an causes it to glide back without any weights. An is extremely dense and heavy for its size due to it being completed solid and filled with tons of salt but I think will work well for this as well.

Jackhammer gets me the bigger bites. I’ll never turn my back on green pumpkin jackhammer, also love the stealth blade
@sotaboy80402 жыл бұрын
My most productive blade just to date is still my booyah boogie bait, I think it was called, with the leverage hook that Chaturbate sure for sued so it was discontinued, although, IMHO, they fish completely differently as the boogie really tumors.

@@gerryhazelton9569 me too. I’ve caught quite a few fish on a jackhammer, but a jig? Just have tons more confidence in it.
@txg12753 жыл бұрын
IMO the thing the jackhammer does better than the normal chatterbaits is off center hunting on rod twitches. Regular chatterbaits tend to stay largely on center but the jackhammer seems to hunt really hard when I give it a twitch and the fish go crazy over it. I get tons of hits right after I give it a twitch or two.
@rodfather_bass_fishing3 жыл бұрын
Finally! Someone ADMITTING that there's nothing special about the jackhammer... I hit the thumbs up as soon as I heard you say that.
@bassman62112 жыл бұрын
What's special about it is only the #2 decoy snap, 5/0 high carbon hook, double wire keeper, tied skirt, premium paint, stainless blade, and direct head connection. That said they don't catch any better for me than the O.C.B. they just look cooler when I open the box of them. 😆 Randy's old school jig is much the same. Super high end components but I'm adding a few to my box. I can all but guarantee they won't fail. Just my .02

I watch Johnnys video. I love it because I used to use tubes on Lake Erie for smallmouth. That was the go to Bait. Just wondering Johnny had said something about pushing the tube over the head and I thought it had something to do with flipping. Or was it to go through weeds better just wondering I have to watch the video again Great stuff again thanks Randy
@jimfromm3981 Жыл бұрын
Randy, I've been watching a lot of your videos lately. I fully understand the threat technology presents to future fishing. I'm wondering, do you anticipate the average weekend fisherman will be using the high end technology? Or, are you concerned that competitive fisherman are removing quality breeder fish? Aren't these fish put back? I wonder what the survival rate is? Also, do you think changing possession limits to require larger fish be returned to the water and allowing the harvest of smaller ones could make a sustainable difference? I'm 79, and was raised next door to a very large fish hatchery. As a child, on summer evenings I used to sneak down to the ponds with a fishing pole. Possibly a little karma and some good parenting, led became an active conservationist later in life. Frankly, I'd like to see tournaments with much smaller motors and way less electronics. I don't see 300 hp motors or A.I. fishing guides adding anything to the sport or the fishery, but that's where the money is. Until BASS figures out how to handicap fishing competitions by awarding extra competitive points to the most sustainable fishing methods, such as wakeless and exhaust free electric motors, barbless hooks, restocking programs funded by the sport, and habitat restoration, the sport and the fishery will not be sustainable. Fishing and fishing venues have morphed into something that is unrecognizable from the simple adventures of my youth. I see that as sad and alarming. But then, the loss of 30% of all living species on earth as well as 60% of the forests is even more tragic. Unfortunately, our population centers shifted dramatically during the last century. The true stewards of the land were displaced. The majority of our population no longer experience nature as a teacher and an inspiring companion. As a result, they do not see our pristine heritage and home slipping away. Sorry, time to get off the soapbox.

There's a little difference in the original, jackhammer and thunder cricket. The original don't kick in as easy. Sometimes it just stops and I have to yank it to crank it back up. Jack hammer kicks in easier. Thunder cricket vibration seems a little more subtle to me. When the jack hammer slows down alot of the time I can swap over to the cricket and go on catching fish.
