Never understood why everyone that is right handed cast with right then switch the rod to the left hand and retrieve with the right, just buy a left hand retrieve. Use your right arm to pull and set the hook, reeling in the lure doesn't require any force.

@@nathanquincefishing7122 I first learned to fish on a spinning reel. The crank was always on the left. Im right handed. I never switched to a right handed bait caster even after going all in on a bait caster. It sucked for the longest time because you could ONLY find one gear ratio in a lefty and that was if you special ordered it. Other than just feeling awkward for a bit, there is almost no reason to not try it these days. (Other than having to buy 15 more reels...lol)
@joestrummer95076 ай бұрын
It's about power and efficiency. The majority of the time you're casting towards the shore, off the right side of the boat to targets and mostly to the left which means you're bringing the bait in L to R. In order to rip a chatterb (or other moving baits) thru weeds or rip weeds off, palming the reel with your left hand and tucking the butt of the rod between your left arm and side and yanking the rod hard to the right is the fastest, most powerful, and most efficient way to do this and you can't do it at all with a LH retrieve reel.

@joebaggs78 Жыл бұрын
I find the 7+ gear ratio reels are too quick for bladed jigs. The bait rides up too quickly. I know people catch them on high speed reels, and people say well you can slow down your retrieve, but it doesnt really work like that. 6.1,6.2, 6.3, 6.4, all perfect for bladed jigs

The original is just as good as any .. maybe not components wise.. but for $5-$6.. it works. In early spring I’ve caught multiple 25-30lb bags in literally 30 mins ( when I get on them) with a green pumpkin original- I don’t throw them anymore since I have a vast collection of higher end vibrating jigs- but you can’t say “ don’t use the original “ it’s a great lure dude- especially to those on a budget, you make it sound like they can’t catch them on a original. My first ever 30lb bag came on a 1/2oz original on a spinning rod with a pflueger trion 5.2.1 spinning reel, when I didn’t have other rods and combos like I do now…just saying.. if presented- they’ll eat it no matter the gear
@DoYouLoveTheSilverHairedGod Жыл бұрын
What’s wrong with the Z-man original? I’ve never had an issue with them. Are they as good as the jackhammer? No, but for people who can’t bring themselves to spend $17 on a lure that can easily be lost, I’ve always found them to be a good option. I’ve also found times where a Zako trailer (or any other swim bait trailer) just doesn’t seem to work but you toss on a craw trailer and BAM! Different outcome.
@nathanquincefishing7122 Жыл бұрын
The components aren’t as good. I like the elites even for a few dollars more
@DoYouLoveTheSilverHairedGod Жыл бұрын
@@nathanquincefishing7122 well I agree, and you get what you pay for obviously and even if they’d come down to around $10 on the jackhammers I’d consider them “worth it” but at $15 to $17, unless you are tournament fishing professionally, I’d stick with the $6 original. The differences in total catches would be minimal. I can’t argue that the jackhammer isn’t better. It is. No question. My point is that the difference in productivity vs the cost isn’t large enough to warrant the price difference for your “average fisherman”. But if money is no object, by all means go for the jackhammer. It’s absolutely a better quality bait that will catch you a few more fish on an average day.
