Came back to the sport after a long time off and got the boom pro from 2023 last year. Definitely solid, but I haven't demoed any of today's more popular racquets to compare.

Nicola, I had bought the first Boom Pro when it came out. It was the racket that got me into switching to a 2-handed backhand. It felt super natural to hit the 2-handed backhand with the Boom head shape.

2-h felt so good w the booms

I love the Boom MP. I’m shorter and rely on quick acceleration strokes. Only thing is that the swing weight after measuring was not as advertised. Had to add lead at 12 o’clock
@ziyaeen3 сағат бұрын
What about the strings used on these rackets? Doesn't the string make a difference how the racket plays? I feel like a racket might work well for you if the string is suitable for your style and the racket's characteristics.
@The4.0Guy14 минут бұрын
yeah agree, this is the problem i have when i demo racquets, they seem to put really stiff poly in them which I never use in my own racquet
@domclarke81826 сағат бұрын
As always, great video! I had the same feeling when using these. They felt mushy, would launch the ball if contact was a little bit closer to the tip rather than the centre and weren't overly stable. Onto the next one!

Been watching this as I am on a similar journey trying to replace my old titanium radical. Thing with searching for a racket in our age bracket is coming clean with ourselves on which is more important, winning points or hitting for pleasure. From the video I do see that you are having more fun and can hit out freely with the pro, and that is pleasurable. For points, I see you doing better with the MP but maybe higher string tension for added control. Again, what’s the priority?

The higher RA in feel is the effect of the auxetic by head. The are more flexible/feel oriented at touch shots / slower swings and stiffen up when you hit hard
@Kenzie_Hill5 сағат бұрын
I'm so enjoying this series! A few of your picks are on my list to buy but I can't be sure. I do know I want a stiffness around 65, a longer grip, and 16x19. I trust you my friend! ❤

It's been emcouraging to see you leaning into power rackets even though you generate way more racket head speed on your strokes than I do! Seems to be a trend among pros too. But it's been a useful ego check to move past the idea that I "generate plenty of power on my own".

Hey, what do you think are the biggest differences between the boom pro and the Blade v9? ( i dont know which one to buy and i am a one hander) Great video!!
@IntuitiveTennis3 сағат бұрын
boom pro is more responsive, blade has softer feel
@The4.0Guy13 минут бұрын
@@IntuitiveTennis and blade has much more normal paint job, head could have sold a lot more Boom's if they ditched that trendy color and gone with something more neutral that won't look dated next year IMHO

Nick you should try the new pure drives when they come out next year. Maybe it will be like your old racket!

Hi Nick, not sure if you tried already so I'll recommend you to give a shot to head radical

I will try Radicals (have tried them in the past, great racquets)

Would you ever consider the Furi Arma Pro 98? It's a smaller brand of course but it plays like a pro staff with a bit more "free power". I find myself returning to this racket often!!
@thiagobadin53314 сағат бұрын
You seem to be playing very well with the pro. The final veredict felt like you just didn't like the design and paint colour of the racket. I don't think those are good enough reasons to disregard them. That is just my take on it.
@Sinisterg603 сағат бұрын
I'm not a fan of the color but the boom pro has been great for my game.
@zuh19023 сағат бұрын
I dont think the Boom Pro is stiff + responsive enough for this style. It's also very unpredictable according to my clubs pros and the Rackets and Runners channel
@The4.0Guy10 минут бұрын
@@zuh1902 yeah I tried to switch to the boom pro, great controllable power and topspin forehand but the stringbed was too unpredictable, if you hit the ball in the area between the normal teardrop shape and where it gets wider you sometimes get an unexplainably uncontrolled shot, it just flies, hopefully they will fix that in new versions
@flodar15482 сағат бұрын
when i tried the boom pro. i lost a lot of power on my forhand (sweetspot position ?) but my serves were great. it was hard to leave it
@aldojuarez94753 сағат бұрын
When I tried this racquet, my backhand was on fire, couldn't miss. Forehand on the other side, it was a different story.

Wish I had Nick's serve, hits so many aces but racquet could be better, talk about 1st world problems!! I've watched all his racquet reviews and I think he played really well with the Boom Pro but if you don't like a racquet you don't like a racquet, very personal choice, I think the Boom Pro could still go into his finalists list though, it didn't seem to have any big drawbacks.

Can't you just rewrap your replacement grip and overgrip to the top of the handle? It feels like having an extended handle. I always do that
