Thank you sooooo much for this! Um let's just say my eyesight isn't the best and I don't like wearing glasses in any sport. Also I lose concentration mid match and just not know the trajectory at all and it would force me to hit weird shots. Like sometimes I feel the ball is going to reach me but it ends up short so I have to improvise by slicing or a drop shot and other times I would feel the ball is far and when I run towards it I find out that I have no time to get ready for the ball so it makes my timing look really bad even though while practicing against a tennis wall my timing is pretty good for a 14 year old. So again thank you so much coach. I watched all your videos and this one is the great tutorial finale so I can just put everything together. Wish me luck!

Definitely ball recognition is one of the hardest things to learn! You can't apply the fundamentals of any stroke if you are not able to get into the right position with good balance to hit the ball. On top of that the coach is feeding only flat balls so when you face a rival with decent top spin rotation or a nice slice with lots of under spin is a whole different history. This is one of those things that yo can only learn by playing again and again until you finally get it!

Thank you, your classes are super informative. I have the exact same problem as Ana does, and also it happens to me just on a forehand. Not sure whether this is about reading the ball or locking my legs, but I end up often getting the ball late on the forehand and doing that chicken wing move which feels very uncomfortable. What's interesting I was actually told to rotate sideways as soon as the balls moves to me while you teach Ana not to rotate sideways completely?

On ball reconigtion: I totally desagree with the statement that proclaims that only the ball recognition allows a tennis player to predict the ball behavior from the opponent. Can anybody strike for a topspin ball by means of a slice pathway raquet technique? If "no" were the answer, i would state that , as the tennis technique for a particular sort of strike is quite share among the tennis players, a tennis player could eventually predict partially o totally the ball behavior after the oponent strike. It happens in other sporting discipplines. My point. (Congrats for your tennis classes videos!)

By video's end, she seems to have forgotten she is supposed to lift her left leg/foot up on a shot when she's pushed back to allow a full swing. Hope she revisits your instruction on video to grasp your guidance on this. Also, she seems to mainly have a lateral take back on the forehand which is not ideal. Thinking you need to call her out on that as she is hardwiring improper form. Also, agree with others wondering why you are not correcting her inefficient use of her non dominant arm.

At 13:43 to your point of backhand being primarily hit from a closed stance. An open stance backhand is being hit by most WTA players. I’ve even seen videos of players training this moving. Why would this ever be necessary during the corse of a rally?
@CoachAdrian3 жыл бұрын
Advanced players practice open-stance backhands primarily because it will enable you to go back into a ready position much quicker. Readiness and balance are critical if you want to play at an advanced level.

Good day. I find why my muscles around my foream is hurting. It is because i hit ball with bent arms. I watched some of your video and you said that it isokay to hit with bent arm. Do you thin i can adjust it into staight arm when hitting?
@IntuitiveTennis3 жыл бұрын
Bent arm is fine 👉 kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZayn6unZrZ_qdU
@IamnotJohnFord3 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem. I hit with a straighter arm, and I did some rehab on the elbow. But, what I found was that it wasn't the bent or straight arm. It was my using my arm muscles as the dominate source of power and rotation during my swing. Take some video of yourself hitting against a wall or with someone. I'll bet you are overusing your arm instead of using the big muscles of the legs, hips, and torso to generate power and spin. I now make sure my hips rotate, and I try to relax the arm as much as I possibly can. The video of myself and also stopping my motion after hitting revealed how much torque and stress I was putting into my elbow by muscling my strokes. You may think you are using your hips until you watch yourself hit for a few minutes on video.

20-30 grams less won't make any difference to her. She just doesn't have the strength. Her swing is a slap, not a hit.

@Krischan043 жыл бұрын
It's not a pure drive though but a Wilson Ultra probably 100L, her swing path is often not optimal because she is hitting and opening the racket face. That's totally normal at that stage though and I don't think it's the racket weight because this is how most beginners look like with beginner rackets, she's just not that used to swinging through.
@prashant91083 жыл бұрын
@@IntuitiveTennis ah ok. Sorry was just a random comment from me. Great to see her evolution.
@suntao32523 жыл бұрын
this is not a good example for beginner, too many contents in one session. Not demo the split step, no unit turn, not open arm to get ready, contact point is later, which will create wrong muscle memory.
@ReidVV3 жыл бұрын
Nick, you are the number one KZbin tennis coach, but why do you let and a hit with her nondominant hand down by her side? She would get so much better body rotation and power into her shot if she would just rotate her body and then swing through the shot. You of all people understand this. I know Anna is at "The Inner Game of Tennis" stage, as in bounce-hit, but what's up? It's no longer her first lesson and some level of technique matters. No offense, but it's not all "Intuitive." She needs to build some kind of muscle memory, too.
@IntuitiveTennis3 жыл бұрын
Thank you James Anna’s forehand is finally back and working well. Development takes time and requires different teaching methods for different players. I explain in this video 👉 kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2TWgHhuqKuki9k why I’m building modern elements slowly. We introduced them too early here (for the viewers sake) 👉 kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWKol2t-e790q7c and this caused severe problems with her forehand to the point where she thought about quitting. I have several other students where the slow implementation of the modern elements worked perfectly and I’m positive it will for Anna as well. Thank you for your concerns ✌️
@CoachAdrian3 жыл бұрын
This is the part of tennis coaching where it becomes more of an art (not science). Introducing the non-dominant arm concept may be the worst possible thing to do for Anna at this point. Sometimes, it's about the person, not the technique.
