Great video coach. As a somewhat beginner learning tennis myself like Anna, it would be great if while you are explaining tennis with words, you could also show what you mean with the ball and footwork patterns. To the inexperienced eyes, its very hard to understand how pros like yourself hit and recover from every ball so quickly. Feels like on every shot you are in the right position to hit a winner either down the line or cross court then volley. Thanks for the videos, keep them coming!

The best part of this video is between 8:13 and 11:10, during which Nikola explains what make recreational tennis players perpetually unready, which keeps them in a panicky state almost all the time. Will give his solution a try. This topic should be the subject for at least three or four videos.

Excellent drill. My daughter's coach feed them balls, but without any instruction--just hit it. This is so great. He also just focused on his protegee, making her look good, as soon as his protegee started losing points; he changed it up. I'm looping but shoulder doesn't end up in front--no twisting motion--may need some yoga to loosen stiff muscles. Or, nerve pain on arm.

@@malboro555 I've been through the tennis courts almost every other day🙄 through last month and January now. Seen veteran recreational players on the weekends and beginners on the weekdays. (Cause the cost of renting a tennis court is generous where I come from so I'm around alot). And when I see Anna play I gotta say, not only does she enjoy the process. But she generally is familiar with her racket as she's on her feet, weight of the racket, head size and everything in order to produce results. I've got buddies beside me on the court even at my level. Wether they're generally athletic or not still can't hit a forehand properly. And they play more than me. So I think Anna is fenominal. Cause you know, one on one sessions with a teacher is intimidating as a beginner too

@@IntuitiveTennis "Recreational "says everyting. I teach and treat all people on the court to play tennis like pros using right grips,swings and spin from beginning . In some cases it takes more time, but gives good base for better progress in the future.

the ball machine helps to deal with the "panic" situation. As a beginner you can be sure where the ball will land and you can focus completely on your stroke.

Hey Nick, at 15:36 I was wondering why you did not give her some detailed instruction here on how to plant her legs and feet when hitting the forehand. Seems like she was asking for help on how to clean up her setup when hitting on that side. She is not very grounded in her forehand compared to the back hand.

Wow. I was very surprised to see you back off on the loop FH but in a good sense. Sometimes ppl are so dogmatic so it's refreshing to see a coach be flexible. The thing that looks odd to me in her FH b/c I did the same before watching your kinetic chain video is the way she uses her off hand.

Good job coach! Some progress. At least her 2H-BH looks comfortable (but not perfect). Just wanna throw some thoughts: She is not happy with the quality of her FH and she does not know what's exactly wrong. She wants to go that direction and you disappoint her. I felt sorry for her. Maybe she can learn Lendl-Sampras FH take-back before she can develop a full modern FH loop? Her classic FH takeback looks so slow and powerless and she feels bad about it.

Anna’s body posture looks better on her backhand. Do you use a ball hopper or make your students pick up all the balls? 😂
@theop55233 жыл бұрын

Nik, don't you see the problem with the beautiful Anna's dead left arm? Rotation sequence is L arm/ shoulders leading... like if throwing. This is making me very uncomfortable to see you drilling this error in a new player with such great attitude, aptitude, and conditioning. Injury is almost certain, and timing will have to be re-established. Please give this your attention. It is amazing she can follow through as well as she does with that arm in the way and only partial rotation. There is no advancement possible until this is fixed. Have her watch you throw balls and describe your left arm and shoulder motion. Then she throws and you watch and then move her arm and shoulders for her til she gets the sequence. Watch some slow mo forehands together to see the L arm and chest open ahead to help drag the R arm around. Please, I am begging you. I will be watching for remedy of what any pro coach would instantly recognize as a fundamental stroke flaw. Get a second opinion if you have the slightest doubt about this. I hasten to add I have learned from watching you, as have so many others, but this is ridiculous.

Nick, Anna's unquestionable, muscular grace and upright deportment seem to hold her back. I feel she needs to set aside her idealised posture in order to loosen up and be able to respond and move more naturally. An old girlfriend of mine was a former dancer, she moved to the ball and carried herself around the court in a similar way to Anna.
