Yep, in much the same way Dib is intelligent but has no patience. Zim has proven very intelligent, resourceful and creative. But once he convinces himself of something, he loses the objectivity needed to re-evaluate.

The whole pigs/moose/tacos/etc thing seems to be a motif in Jhonen Vasquez's other works (based on reading a few comic strip pages and reading Wikipedia). It's nice that the writers had freedom over what they can write. Especially when you count the things that had to be changed or left out due to multiple reasons.

Dib is my 2nd fav after ZIM! I don't get all the hate. He's just a lonely misunderstood kid trying to save the earth. I feel so bad for him. GIR is too obvious as a favorite character that's why he's lower on my list. Very funny moments but more credit needs to go to the enemies ZIM and Dib.

Yeah Gaz's character was a bit neglected. Sure maybe less was more with her. Keeping her moody and quiet what you see is what you get. But it would've been nice to see why she's the way she is.

I was nine years old when I started watching this show. I didn't like Dib at first because I saw him as a bully. I quickly changed my mind when I saw that he had bullies of his own and that Zim was really a bad person. I think the "America hates Dib/America loves Gir" joke started with the studio urging the writers to give Dib less screentime because little kids found him scary or something in favor of Gir who was random and hyperactive. I think that contributed to Dib being written in later episodes as neurotic and stupid.

It's a shame nickelodeon didn't have more respect for this show, given the view numbers they've had on some of the reruns it almost feels like someone in higher ups just really hated the show and didn't want it to succeed.

highers ups dont personally like or dislike a show. they only allow on the air what gives them the most money. it was canceled for low ratings. there was a rumor that they actually wanted jhonen back through the years but he would never ever go back. jhonen is full of resentment and hate for how difficult they made of for him when he worked for them. the zim movie he made was because he had spent 20 years? putting in a measure of work in other things with out any successes. he finally gave in to work on zim because it was the only option he had, if he wanted to have success/make money again.
