If yall know what colt lighters are, they are similarly sized as zippo lighters but the mechanism is the same as on the lighter on this video, now they have a metal thing covering the middle part of the wheel for some reason or another, but you can remove this thing and removing it makes the performance much better, not over the top like this but the flame is mb 2/3 larger

You realize that if you do that modification it doesn't allow the butane valve to completely close, which constantly lets gas into the air. This in turn can result in a fire if set somewhere in the house. I know this because you have to blow it out, which means you are supplying too much oxygen to the flame which puts it out, but leaves gas spewing out in small amounts.

I just found out Major makes lighters without the adjustable lever and to modify the flame size is just like what you have in the video except you need a tweezer to turn the cog. Simple as pie! Just only turn it about 3-4 teeths worth to get the flame at max.

Gonna debunk some myths over here. First, in order to have combustion, fuel must mix with air. There is no air inside the lighter, and it is impossible for the flame to "get inside" the lighter and blow it up. in fact, if you look closely, the increased fuel release actually pushes the flame base away from the lighter. Is it possible that the flame can melt the lighter? Yes, however the user would burn his hand before this happened and extinguish the lighter. Also, you would need to melt the entire top of the lighter to penetrate it as the actual nozzle is made out of metal. Now, this doesn't mean that there is no danger in doing this. Notice how inventor719 is unable to extinguish the flame simply by releasing the trigger and has to use alternate means to extinguish it. This means that butane is leaking out of it constantly. In most cases this simply means you waste all the lighter's butane and you realize that your lighter is suddenly no longer functional. But a gas leak is dangerous for obvious reasons-- if it's allowed to build up and there is an ignition source then you know what happens. When you're doing this "hack", don't adjust the lighter too much. Here, he moves the switch four times-- I've discovered that doing it only once is definitely good enough.

+kuba kuba Gonna clarify one thing and debunk one of your debunks' in the process. first a lighter can explode if the flame is held to long; i know i have seen it happen. that's the debunk. secondly while it is true that fuel must mix with air to catch on fire it is commonly referred to the flame getting inside the lighter. the clarification is that the flame doesn't "get inside" but rather the fuel gets hotter and hotter effectively expanding the pressure on the inside. this is what causes the explosion. and there should be very minor injuries if any. the worst case scenario is that someone suffers second degree burn from the hot fluid; which can be very easily cured by putting some vinegar on a paper towel and applying to said area.
