LNER should do the Inverness to Edinburgh section again but in winter when it's full of snow I think

Thing is the Inverness service leaves from Inverness just before 8 in the morning as well so it would be dark for the first part of the route, however watching the sun come up as it heads along the line would be a sight to behold

These videos are truly stunning ......... I'm a big fan of these videos .......... continue making these videos LNER, there is a small room for improvement .......... the commentary is not clearly heard .......... it can be made more clear ............ rest is so awesome .......... hats off to the team

Very nicely done, BUT, who edited the video? The music is insanely loud given the voiceover. Seemed slightly amateurish.

Great film. My great great uncle (William Roberts, Engineer in Chief of the Highland Railway) was the deputy Chief Engineer for the Nairn Viaduct and also responsible for doubling some sections of the line between Stanley Junction and Inverness. He designed the stations at Aviemore (and at Boat of Garten and the Aviemore loco shed, both on the Strathspey Steam Railway), at Kingussie and Newtonmore (demolished) and the Down platform waiting room at Pitlochry.

Indeed those lines were covered back in the days of VCR tapes. As I recall, Paul Coia and Sally Magnusson did the commentaries. I would think they are available still if you do a spot of searching.

is it not Dunblane where it switches over to overhead not Bridge of Allan ?- also pretty sure it was Dunblane on the video!

The LNER Class 800 Azuma are unlimited and can go anywhere as they like because they are Bi-mode including to Hull, Sunderland, Inverness, Perth, Aberdeen and Dundee. But the LNER Class 801 Azuma are limited because they can only operate on electrified lines including to Leeds, Skipton, Bradford Forester Square, York, Newcastle and Edinburgh Waverley. But they do have diesel engine but only used for emergencies only I think.
@tonypaul36983 жыл бұрын
Yes, you're correct, the 800's have 5 GU's, the 801's have one, which is only used in situations where there is a problem with the overhead power supply.

+1 to the comments on vs music sound. Music far too loud (if necessary at all), commentary too soft.
I've been waiting for this one! What a gorgeous journey, huh? As traincrew who signs this route (though not for LNER), I was always told that Slochd is actually the 3rd highest on the UK national rail network - Corrour (on the west Highland line) being about 35ft higher. And for everyone who took higher / A level English and got sick of Shakespeare, I'll tell you I always remember Kingswood tunnel because of its proximity to Dunkeld and Birnam and "When Birnam wood does march to Dunsinaine" 🤣🤣

Well electrification in the North of Scotland isn’t needed because the Class 800 are Bi-mode.
