Investigating How a Plasma Ball Can Actuate a Moen Touchless Faucet

In an earlier video, link below, I showed how my wife could actuate our Moen touchless kitchen faucet simply by touching a plasma ball. Needless to say this was very strange. In this video I investigate this phenomenon and you will find it very interesting. During the video I use the electrical ground from a wall receptacle near the kitchen sink by modifying a short extension cord to enable connecting a jumper cord from the green ground wire to the faucet. If you try this be very careful and don't do it if you are not experienced handling electrical wiring. This was for demonstration only and not for permanent use.

Very interesting! Maybe try bring an isolated solenoid around the plasma ball. It might be inducing a small current

Just had this happen to me through a wall. I was in my office, turned it on, and I heard the sink come on in the kitchen. Very interesting and informative video. Thank you! Did you try bringing the ball closer to the electronics under the sink when you had it all covered up?

Thanks for watching and your question. I did not put the ball under the sink with tape covering the IR sensor. Since it appeared that electrically grounding the main metallic body of the sink was neutralizing any RF effect I did not do any further experiments. If you try that yourself and see an effect please share it in the comments whether it works or not.
