@@shankar4330 Bats are essentially flying rats/rodents and when they are in caves crowd around each other to sleep. You can regularly find up to 150 bats per square foot in a cave! That close proximity is a breeding ground for diseases. It's well-known bats harbor many diseases and are the perfect host for many viruses - much more than any other animal, including rats. Yes, no animal is immune from disease, but since bats carry so many they should be banned from already unhygienic wet markets.

Teresia, There are a lot of zoos, certainly in the UK, that have many conservation programs running in order to save many different endangered species. Our understanding of animals and their behaviours have led to much better conditions for zoo animals' living quarters and space. A lot of the wild animals would not or possibly could not survive out in the wild. Poachers are still a major problem in Africa, and this is down to the Asian markets wanting valuable body parts for their "medicines". So Safari parks are not particularly safe places for animals either! Wild animals adapt. The country fox has learned to become the urban fox. Even bears will invade urbanized places. Alligators in back yards in parts of America! I could go on!

Well it’s because we’ve lived in a culture where everything is well maintained and have agencies overlooking them. For a lot of people, they’ve lived years and years in poverty where wild animals was part of their life and this source of food just happened to have stayed within their culture. Although so little markets do have wild animals now, it is a delicacy still for some people. We might consider beef, chicken, turkey as “normal meat” but for some places, it’s not. Let me remind you that some people still eat rats. It’s because they can’t afford “our kind of meat”. Although it’s unfortunate that this virus turned out like this, I think the bigger problem is that there was no regulation. China has been monitoring so they said but it’s not to the extent as they should. That’s why those officials all resigned because they did a horrible job.
