J'ai navigué depuis 1982 sur tous les océans et mers de ce monde,en occupant tous les grades intermédiaires depuis ma sortie de l'institut supérieur maritime d'Algérie,puis en tant que commandant au long cours sur des super tankers,methaniers, chimiquiers,vraquiers et autres porte containers de différents tonnage et je tiens en mon âme et conscience à reconnaître l'extrême compétence,l'infinie gentillesse et l'authentique professionnalisme des pilotes de ports français où qu'ils soient ainsi que toutes les équipes des tours de contrôle de ces mêmes ports...dont acte ❤❤❤

This pilot in Marseille is a very brave man and deserved all allocates he receives from The captain's and crew of these vessels he expertly guides into port he deserves a medal for it belfast northern ireland

Hello. I am originally from Ireland, but now live in Florida. I am really impressed by all of the documentaries that are shown on this channel. Unfortunately, in America they do not make such good programs. Here there is no suspenseful music, no over the top narrator, no added drama, just the plain facts. Well done. My French is rusty so I am enjoying learning new information and relearning the French language.

I met ex Marseille pilots in Noumea, New Caledonia. These guys are high class. My respect! It appears Marseille has a good “pilotage” school. being a captain i can imagine the level of stress to navigate and dock the vessel under such windy conditions.

Malgré les conditions météo , tout le monde à pu grimper à bord du navire tunisien, le pilote, le caméraman, l'ingénieur du son et tout le matériel qui va avec .

A savoir tout de même que c’est le commandant qui est toujours responsable. Le pilote n’est qu’un conseil.

C’est vraiment inacceptable de commenter un sujet aussi intéressant avec un manque total de Culture Maritime et un vocabulaire indigne d’une journaliste. Nous sommes le seul pays d’Europe à être entouré de quatre mers et les Français comme disait Eric Tabarly: la Mer pour eux c’est ce qu’ils ont dans le dos quand ils regarde la plage…

On ne devrait plus parler de navire mais davantage de palace flottant...rien de comparable avec les magnifiques paquebots d'antan ...une autre époque révolue et maintenant place au tourisme de masse et tout ce que cela comporte ...encore une folie monstrueuse !!!

Great documentary, even though my French is now poor I managed to cope. Very professional mariners are the Port Pilots, just one point, they are "ships" not "boats". Despite modern changes the good old Jacobs Ladder still has to be climbed up the side of the vessel, no luxury of a helicopter as used on the super tankers here!

A pilot boat should have an absolute minimum crew of 2 people . One helm and one to assist the pilot boarding and departing . If the pilot goes in the water how will the pilot boat rescue him with only a helmsman . The lack of a second crewman is an unacceptable risk !

what have the Commanders to do with all that? You have the pilots who give the commands to the helmsman. steers the ship. And the commands to the engine room come also either from the Pilots or the helmsman. Who
