In the United States, 54 women are “awaiting” the execution of their sentence. Linda Carty and Melissa Lucio are imprisoned in Texas, Shawna Forde in Arizona. They surrender. Among the prisoners, some hope for a review of their trial.

These KZbin documentarians seem to be slightly less that overtly bias about U.S. LEAs, the prison system and white Americans if you can stomach their other content here. There's a certain style that they all have in common that seems to slant in favor of criminals and paint the United States as something that it isn't if you live in it. As a foreign "news organization", they are taking the stereotypical approach and painting the U.S. with broad strokes.

The problem is that you never really know who is guilty and who is not. We don't have a fair and honest justice system. If you think otherwise, you're naive.

@@louisegross3886 If poor in America and Black or Brown you stand little to No chance against the system. Public defendants are like morticians to us poor people. My advice to us Blacks and Browns, do all possible to minimize interactions with the legal system. Don't do drugs including legal ones.

_When any murderer only talks about themselves, how bad they have it or how they are dealing with their own situation. That is when you know they have no remorse for their crimes and are guilty. Those who can be redeemed are those who show genuine remorse and talk about the victims families and how their actions effected their lives._

Thucydide (-427 environ), il s'agit du plus vieux plaidoyer contre la peine de mort que l'on ai pu retrouver dans l'histoire de l'humanité. « Dans nos cités, la peine de mort attend bien des fautes qui n'égalent pas celle-ci, il s'en faut ; l'espoir pourtant entraîne à affronter ce risque, et nul n'a jamais marché au danger qui se jugeât à ne pas l'emporter dans ce qu'il tramait. », livre III, XLV Comprendre ici que la peine de mort n'a jamais été réellement dissuasive. Quand un homme est poussé du désespoir ou par espoir, il se sentira prêt à tout de toute manière, peu importe l'ampleur du danger, l'homme prêt à tout pense qu'il s'en sortira, alors que ce soit 20 ans, 30 ans, ou la peine de mort, il ne se juge pas condamné à ne pas l'emporter. Donc la peine de mort est inutile. Cela fait plus de 2400 ans que des Grecs l'ont constaté mais que des hommes modernes ne le comprennent toujours pas. C'est marrant comme c'est souvent les gueux sous éduqués qui n'arrivent pas à comprendre des principes simples. Pas étonnant qu'on vous traite en esclaves de plus en plus, on vous a mis à votre disposition des ouvrages pour vous instruire, et vous continuez à jouer à la PS4 et à exiger des jeux et du pain. Le barbare moderne, il ferme les yeux sur l'injustice, il tue des petits soldats virtuels sur sa console, et il pense avoir le droit de donner son avis alors que terminer le bac c'était déjà l'épreuve de sa vie.

Happens regularly to us Blacks/Browns, it's a freaking Kangaroo system when it comes to us. I retired and left the country; I have never felt more relaxed. Today I enjoy the presence of police/government patrol; I even carry waters in car around Central America to share with them. When in America I would shake in my shoes when in presence of police.

I just finished watching Linda Carty's case. Her lawyer loses the case as the judge couldn't find evidence of prosecutors threatening witnesses. She is definitely in the right place.

Carty claimed she was framed by her co-defendants who were drug dealers because she had previously been an informant.... none of them (the actual unalivers) got death and shes the one who told police where to find the 'borrowed' cars - not knowing the baby was inside per what she says.

I cant believe they spent all that money to stop her getting death row when that money could have gone to something brighter and productive. Linda is definitely guilty. She did a monstrous crime. The reason why the others werent given the death penalty is because they confessed to their crimes.

Very well researched and presented. How can we stop this from happening? 😢😢 I live in Canada and the system here is broken too. At least the death penalty no longer stands but how many lives were taken that shouldn't be. Look at Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka, he gets life in prison and she got to be a teacher's aid but they both did the crime. I wonder if this comes down to money too. Sympathy and condolences to the families who had loved ones murdered.

Which is exactly why you're tried by a jury of strangers and not family members. Because justice should be free of emotion. Otherwise it's just vigilantism with a high likelihood of harming the innocent. So what I'm saying is the family and friends of the victim shouldn't decide someone's guilt or punishment.

I wondered the same thing, but I sensed dysfunctionality in the family. Her drug usage further alienated her from the family. You preach to people to stop using stuff and finally just cut them off. I believe this lady got cutoff from family plus I sense the kids were traumatized. I recall her sister saying how she wished her incarcerated sister "HAD BEEN MORE FIRM WITH THE KIDS" The kids due to mother's lack of discipline had become pains in the neck. Who can manage 13 kids as a parent? notice there was no mention of Dad's??

Я тоже ПРОТИВ смертной казни , я за ПОЖИЗНЕННОЕ заключение. Во первых , если человек действительно виноват в страшных преступлениях, то это СЛИШКОМ лёгкое наказание для него - секунда и он отмучился, а его жертвы НАВЕРНЯКА умирали долго, тяжело, мучительно... Во-вторых , если человека оклеветали, оговорили или произошла судебная ошибка, то есть возможность найти истинного преступника и реабилитировать "попавшего под раздачу". А в случае НЕОПРОВЕРЖИМО ДОКАЗАННЫХ СТРАШНЫХ преступлениях должно быть ПОЖИЗНЕННОЕ в Очень Тяжелых условиях-содержание в ОДИНОЧНЫХ камерах с редким выходом в наручниках на руках и ногах в крытые маленькие дворики - воздухом подышать. И НИКАКИХ писем и передач, телевизоров и телефонов. Голая камера , узкая шконка со сном в 5 часов , днем можно только садиться на табуретку, а из книг - только Библия , и житие Святых подвижников. И кормить -только жиденькой баландой . А то я смотрю, у убийц в некоторых тюрьмах еда такая, какую не имеют многие честные трудящиеся люди... Эти преступники упитаны и даже накачаны. ЗАПРЕЩАТЬ им качать тело. Сиди -ЧИТАЙ ,ДУМАЙ о своём поведении- ВСЁ!!!!! И еще - НИКАКИХ подач прошений о помиловании !!!! НИКАКИХ скидок на образовавшиеся болезни!!!!! А то некоторые,осужденные пожизненно , просят их выпустить ,потому что они заболели туберкулезом... НЕЛЬЗЯ ! Пожизненное должно оставаться ПОЖИЗНЕННЫМ при ЛЮБЫХ ОБСТОЯТЕЛЬСТВАХ. Таким МРАЗЯМ НЕ ДОЛЖНО БЫТЬ ПОЩАДЫ, иначе вы уподобляетесь этим МРАЗЯМ , являетесь СОУЧАСТНИКАМИ их ПРЕСТУПЛЕНИЙ.Наказание ОБЯЗАНО быть СТРАШНЕЕ преступлений. Во -первых это будет СПРАВЕДЛИВО по отношению пострадавших и их детей,мам,пап,бабушек... Во -вторых это НАКАЗАНИЕ и УРОК такой Душе. Гуманное отношение к вменяемым (не сумасшедшим) преступникам - само по себе -ПРЕСТУПЛЕНИЕ. Единственное обстоятельство смягчающее наказание- это если преступник сошел с ума. Таких надо помещать в психиатрические больницы тюремного типа и лечить . И проходить комиссии каждые пол-года . Если человек пришел в себя - опять в тюрьму. Держать сумасшедших в тюрьме- тоже своего рода преступление. Сумасшедшие НЕ В СОСТОЯНИИ НИЧЕГО ОСОЗНАТЬ. Держать сумасшедшего в тюрьме-всё равно что держать в тюрьме ничего не соображающее дитя.Вот это как раз БЕСЧЕЛОВЕЧНО ,какое бы страшное преступление ни совершил этот человек. Но это должны решать ОЧЕНЬ квалифицированные врачи, потому что МНОГИЕ преступники ИМИТИРУЮТ сумасшествие и уходят от ответственности,УВЫ.

Va faire un tour à une audience d'assise, tu verras qu'en justice, il n'y a pas de justice. Seulement deux camps qui s'affrontent, sans honneur et sans scrupules. La décision du juge est considérée comme la justice pour que les citoyens continuent à respecter les lois. En réalité il s'agit simplement d'un individu qui va trancher en la faveur d'une des parties qui est généralement celle représentée par la partie la plus forte.

It's true that Melissa had addictions however, she did not murder her child, she was negligent. I've seen a lot of cases where a child has died due to negligence and perhaps it warrants a life sentence. But definitely not the death penalty.

It can be very expensive to travel to visit someone in prison, the cost to travel there, and if they’re visiting from somewhere far away they also have to get a hotel, meals etc. And it’s hard for some to visit someone in prison. All the security you have to go through can be humiliating to some. And then they only get to talk through glass by phone and for a short amount of time.

The lady with the 13 children, I feel so sorry for those poor children having not only their little sister die but having their mother taken too prison cause the police think she murdered their sibling and on top of all of that what do children's social services do, why they only traumatized the sibling's more by splitting them apart and sending them to different care and foster homes, bloody hell hadn't those poor children been through enough by the time the divvy police decided to arrest the mum, couldn't the social workers actually help the rest of the family to be able to take all the children in so the children were not only all together but also with family that knew them all and could help them deal with the grief of not only losing their sister but also their mum It's really awful how the whole system is run, from the law makers to the judges, the police and social services even the medical field and education as well We need a better way, so innocent people don't get lost in the systems

I wondered why the child wasn't taken to the hospital to be checked out after a fall down an entire flight of stairs!?! She had a broken arm and head injuries. Surely a doctor's visit was in order? That does not make a good mom IMO. Not worthy of a death sentence, but not right at all. Then I wondered why the (Large family we see) didn't take the kids in rather than foster care? Just wondering....

En outre, les gens ont des émotions, ce reportage montre l'envers de la médaille, celle à laquelle on a jamais accès. Je terminerai par citer Thucydide (-427 environ), il s'agit du plus vieux plaidoyer contre la peine de mort que l'on ai pu retrouver dans l'histoire de l'humanité. « Dans nos cités, la peine de mort attend bien des fautes qui n'égalent pas celle-ci, il s'en faut ; l'espoir pourtant entraîne à affronter ce risque, et nul n'a jamais marché au danger qui se jugeât à ne pas l'emporter dans ce qu'il tramait. », livre III, XLV Comprendre ici que la peine de mort n'a jamais été réellement dissuasive. Quand un homme est poussé du désespoir ou par espoir, il se sentira prêt à tout de toute manière, peu importe l'ampleur du danger, l'homme prêt à tout pense qu'il s'en sortira, alors que ce soit 20,30, ou la peine de mort, il ne se juge pas condamner à ne pas l'emporter. Sauf que l'effet coercitif et d'économies budgétaires ne serai pas bénéfique par rapport au risque de mettre à mort des gens innocents. Les proches de la victime chercheront toujours à accuser quelqu'un c'est ce qui s'appelle en droit le principe de contradictoire. En attendant, les faits et le droit doivent nous commander. Peut-être sur certains cas très précis de psychopathes finis en effet mais pour le nombre que ça représenterai, l'économie d'argent, vous voulez qu'on parle de money laundering ? Je pense que la priorité serai peut-être de mettre fin aux paradis fiscaux plutôt que de vouloir économiser 35 000$ (c'est ce que coûte par an un détenu aux USA) sachant que depuis 2020 il y a eu 70 exécutions... Pour le geste économique vous repasserez, vous voulez grapillez des miettes sur des droits fondamentaux comme celui du droit à la vie. Par contre l'évasion fiscale des élites cela vous émeut moins, comme le fait que les riches n'encourent jamais cette peine. D'ailleurs, les conditions de ces détenus sont particulièrement difficiles, il me semble que c'est là une punition juste et suffisante. Vous parlez d'économiser des poussières dans le pays considéré encore comme celui avec le plus gros PIB dans le monde... Une blague ? La justice cherche l'équilibre entre les dommages et les bénéfices. La plupart des pays ont vite réalisé que la balance avec la peine de mort penchait plutôt du côté de l'injustice que de la justice... Avec la prison on est sûr d'avoir justice, si on se trompe, on est sûr de pas avoir mis quelqu'un à mort inutilement, et de dire 20 ans plus tard avec de nouvelles preuves « oups ». Y'a rien de sorcier à comprendre sauf dans le monde des gens peu éduqués comme vous, navrée de vous le dire. Vous êtes dans l'émotion et non les faits et le droit. Vous êtes à l'âge de la loi du Talion. Comme je l'ai dit : cette mesure extrême ne porte pas assez de bénéfices pour les inconvénients qu'on en retire.
