I don't mind these sorts of videos. At least there were tiny hints of awakening discussed. And I'm very much not against talking about making changes, because humanity must DO and not simply whither. But at the same time, we need to have real conversations about the idea that we can't take our foot off the gas, period. We cannot. We're stuck. And when nature slaps us down terribly, and billions die, we will find that it was already too late by many years. This is the real conversation, a hospice, a time of deciding how we wish to be at the end.

This way of thinking is the problem. There is failure to recognize that we are Nature and hence an investment i.e. change, in humanity is in itself investment in Nature. All of Nature has already invested in the evolution of the human being but the human being unfortunately has developed a separate exploitative relationship with its fellow relations in Nature. Sadly ecological destruction will continue unless this realization is understood. Attempting to 'solve' this via finance is dysfunctional and fundamentally wrong. Finance, accounting, economics and governance must be subservient to thermodynamics, period.

Simply plant trees. Don't get overcomplicated.

There are many reasons why reforestation is a great idea. CO2 mitigation is a weaker reason, simply because a tree, like a teenager, is b*gger all use until they are around 20 years old. They only get in their CO2 uptake stride after about 20 years. Eco-restoration is absolutely vital, but we have more effective short-term solutions.

Stop saying we are trying to save the planet! We are trying to save ourselves, from us!

Always highliting the problems, talk and talk for decades, without seriously discussing the need for system change. Capitalism only cares about profit and the idea that we are going to invest our way out of this in a world of geopolitical tensions, where economic growth is tied to national security, is naive. There is simply too much momentum in the superorganism of capitalism to stop it at this point, we have left it too late, the people with influence and power to make a difference chose short term profit over long term ecological sustainability and survival, and we are feeling the consequences of their lack of courage and vision now. Sorry to sound like a doomer, but the scientists have been giving warnings for decades now, and nobody wants to address the elephant in the room, that the whole global economic system is a heat engine and fundamentally incompatible with a long term living and thriving planet. Why is capitalism not even discussed?
