First, are you a willing participant? Are you open to making friends? Are you friendly? Ask yourself these questions. I agree with this important discussion regarding seeking out life-long true friends. I believe it's natural for us to want to commune with others, and it's also healthy. Friendships or relationships with others will increase one's overall health and longevity. It slows cognitive decline, among other things. We need others who we can call at least to talk to. Socialization is essential to avoid loneliness. If you are someone who finds it difficult to make true friends, try asking the other person about themselves to break the ice. People love to talk about themselves, so this is quite helpful for bonding with someone. Allow new friendships to develop organically. Don't hurry it or force it. Lastly, try to avoid being too intense with someone you meet in the beginning. Meaning, don't overwhelm the other person with your fears or other matters in the beginning. Reach out to others. There are people who care.

I appreciate you discussing this topic. It is badly needed. I wish you had more substance to offer than Meet-Up and Front Runners / Walkers. There is really nothing else? How depressing.... today's solitude will only magnify... at least now I know for sure.

We should probably do more research on this idea for additional episodes. There's got to be more options available, but I also know it would largely depend on your location. Loneliness is a killer indeed.

Age can make you either an introvert or an extrovert. As I've aged I've gone from an intro to and extro. I'll talk to almost anyone now. True friends are few and far between and as we age they leave us as God intended them to do. Making new and even younger friends is exhilarating. It breaths new life into you. It gives you a new objectivity on life. My boyfriend of one year now is 7 years younger than me and we really enjoy the differences that has brought to us. I am 73 and he is 66. So put yourself out there and be surprised at what can happen.

Wonderful perspective. Thanks a lot for sharing your point of view. That’s very true. Meeting different people can definitely inspire you to experiment with new ideas as well. That alone can be a life-changing experience.
