By definition history is always hindsight. The same can be said for our lifes lessons!

Yes it is always very interesting to hear Ferguson explains what had happened. His "predictions using history" don't quite work out so well. But no doubt he is very very smart and hard working. I'll still listen to him to get a perspective, but avoid putting too much weight on his predictions.

I respectfully disagree, I think he is the definitely one of the historians of all time!!!

I like Ferguson's practical approach. As both a historian and economist he does a nice job of applying the macro to the micro and basing it on historical evidence. I think I'm more inclined to opt for the book "Doom" at this time! Really enjoyed the interviews! 👍

Ferguson doesn't understand China. China won't invade Taiwan. A true historian should learn some Chinese History, especially about the Spring Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. For several hundred years, within China itself was a World, where there were many countries, hegemons that came and went, philosophers who shaped the Chinese Culture. Many of China's actions today, baffling the Western "experts" and "analysts", can be explained by someone who has studied Chinese History. Ferguson is just repeating the cold war lines promoted by the Military-Industrial Complex.
