I’m 8 months into Invisalign and I feel basically no discomfort anymore, not even when switching to a new tray. Keeping them in 20-22 hours is also so easy now i dont even think about it. I don’t think a single person has noticed I wear them without me telling them, even my girlfriend constantly forgets. The downside however is being in public or something and craving a drink or snack that may just not be worth it to remove the aligners for. Some people stop snacking all together and just eat their usual 2-3 daily meals and thats called the Invisalign Diet lol

I'm in braces since October so about two months. At first I was really upset I didn't go with Invisalign, because I was uncomfortable, was having sores in my cheeks and flossing was taking forever!!! Fast forward a couple of months and I'm absolutely positive braces are the perfect fit for me!! I'm a busy mom of 2 little kids and although morning and night time oral hygiene are sacred, I can't find the time to constantly brush after each meal, like I should've done had I had Invisalign. I love sipping on my coffee all throughout the morning, oftentimes my meal time gets interrupted by the kids so the time it takes to finish it's prolonged, which with Invisalign wouldn't have been ideal. So if you're debating which route to go I suggest tracking your eating habits for a few days and see if you can be super organized, and if you are likely to maintain a great oral hygiene.

I got invisalign almost 5 years ago now, I'm still on them and it feels like the biggest mistake I've ever made. Was originally quoted that the treatment would last 18 months, I had a very minor straightening only for the bottom row, and invisalign was recommended for the job. Fast forward to now, I got them in high school, recently graduated university, and there's no end in sight. I've been left using the same old plates for months because the manufacturing process takes MONTHS for any new sets, bottom row treatment quickly became top row as well, as jaw misalignment began to occur. Originally on an x axis, but now I'm starting to get misalignment where I can now poke my tongue through the gap! If you want trustworthy treatment that nobody can mess up for you, literally just get braces, don't trust plastic, especially when you need to use over the counter toothpaste because invisalign actively yellows your teeth by keeping everything trapped against your teeth for hours at end! Don't make the same mistake as me, by the amount of misalignment I have going on now, it'll most likely be 8 years of plastic.
@jennakeliikuli16942 жыл бұрын
Right, I wish I never got Invisalign. I made the mistake of getting Invisalign with my dentist, not thinking that it would be better to go to an orthodontist. I got Invisalign because my teeth were a little crooked but nothing major- just some minor adjustments. My main concern was that two of my bottom teeth would sometimes cut into my tongue and I wanted that fixed. My dentist told me this is a very minor fix and that Invisalign will send them everything they need to straighten my teeth and I’ll just need to come in periodically to check in and make sure everything is going on track. When Id go in for my checkups he wouldn’t say what he was doing he just helped himself to use a sort of drill to file BETWEEN my teeth! By the time he started filing it was too late for me to stop him because it already had started. After this happened twice on both “check ups” I told him I don’t want anymore of my teeth filed down because I actually love the shape of my top teeth, my main concern was my BOTTOM teeth- I don’t need all this extra work down on my top teeth. He said don’t worry it’s very minor spaces between my teeth and my smile will actually look bigger once they adjust the setting of my teeth. Well he filed between ALL of my front TOP teeth because “with Invisalign that is how we make room to allow your teeth to straighten.” Because he did that I have a smaller smile now. I used to love my smile even though it was a little crooked. I liked the idea of my teeth being shifted into a straighter position but I did NOT want my teeth to be filed down to be SMALLER. Now I have much smaller front teeth and I feel robbed of my smile. Just writing this for people interested in Invisalign to go an orthodontist and ask exactly what the process will be like. I later found out that my dentist didn’t HAVE to file between all my front teeth, he just thought it would b a nicer look if he reshaped my teeth. So extremely disappointed. Really really wish I never did Invisalign with my dentist.

Best advice ever! People need a proper orthodontist and train track braces. They finish and detail every tooth, you get a perfect midline, perfect arches, beautiful straight teeth, looking the best they possibly can. How can an Invisalign tray, push and pull teeth into position? How can it pull impacted canine teeth down into the correct position? I'd recommend traditional metal braces every time.

At my orthodontist Invisalign was still significantly more expensive. My orthodontist also does lingual braces, but no one ever mentions those. I think if your estimated treatment is more than a year, I would go with traditional braces. A lot of the cons fade quickly, and the ease of not having to do much in between appointments matters in the long run. I feel like at some point you could just wear the braces indefinitely. I have Essex, and Hawley, retainers now and I feel like a lot of the restrictions on snacking as well as the general feeling of having your teeth completely incased is a huge downside. I made the right choice. Also, I had a cross bite and my orthodontist felt that unless I really wanted Invisalign, traditional braces would be better. I really like my results, no jaw surgery needed!

My first few months with braces were a breeze. Once my ortho started having me use rubber bands they were an annoying, painful bitch. More than once I woke up crying and screaming at night because my rubber bands were pulling my teeth so tightly I just couldn’t take the pain. Is it more work to take care of aligners? Yes. But I’ll take that inconvenience over never having to put a rubber band on my teeth again. For added context, I have genetically fragile enamel, but my teeth were deemed strong enough for treatment. My enamel has led me to have every “standard” procedure imaginable. I’ve had caps/crowns, more fillings than I can count, extractions, sealants, and even root canals. Not a single one of those compared to the absolute agony of braces with rubber bands. Do I regret my experience? Not at all. Would I ever do it again? I think I’d rather die lmao
@JessieBanana2 жыл бұрын
@@EmmieHunny Rubber bands didn’t bother me that much. They hurt at first, but that fades. I think they’re much more painful the less consistently you wear them. I wore mine 24/7 pretty much. I’m in invisalign and I’m so over it 😩 it’s been 2.5 years because I had an impacted canine. Love this comment. Impacted canines are one type of case that we strongly recommend be treated with braces for this reason. Very helpful information - thank you! I think that you inadvertently skipped over a very important comparison, though, which is comparing the rules of eating & drinking in each type of treatment. Isn't it a whole lot more inconvenient with Invisalign since you only have a total of about two hours per day to eat three meals and it's nearly impossible to enjoy a night out having a couple of beers with friends?
@GluckOrthodontics3 жыл бұрын
Love this comment! You are totally correct about eating and drinking. The amount of time for that can be limited with aligners. That said, we do tell our patients they need to "live their life" and so if they have the aligners out for a few hours here and there - especially when having a couple of beers with friends :) - that's totally fine! The main way people's treatment gets off track is if they lose the habit of wearing the aligners all day, every day. But a few hours with the aligners out here and there are all good.

I have been on Invisalign for a year now and unfortunately I am slow eater. In saying that, I don't take out the aligners for drinks, only if it's a particularly hot drink. So it's only for snacking and eating. I do try to brush after every meal but if you want to snack you can do it and then pop the aligners back in. You will have to make sure you do a thorough clean in the evening to avoid cavities. I also go to the hygienist every 3 months and last time she saw me she indicated once every 6 months is fine with me (dentist check up also came back ok). So no cavities so far.

I wore Invisalign for two years. Then after the treatment I received retainers but I kept losing them. I would try to order another retainer but my orthopedic kept having me make additional appointments with them to retake scans and order another set of retainers for $350+ My problem that no one can seem to answer and make it make sense is, why can’t I order my original retainers so if my teeth shift a little bit while waiting for them in the mail my retainers will kind of put them back from the minor shift? However if we only get new retainers for every time we misplaced or lose them gradually they are shifting back and I feel like I’m being set up to have to under go another treatment with them because after the scan I still have to wait for them to come in the mail anyway 🤷🏽♀️. And the process I’m my area seems to be 4.5k - 6k. I paid 5.5k for my treatment. I was extremely happy with my progress until after my treatment and having to deal with the way I get new retainers. Have ANYONE experienced this? I’ve decided to schedule some consultations with other orthopedists and inquire about the upkeep of braces after the treatment. I wasn’t 100% happy with how my teeth looked without the Invisalign.

I'll give you some tips. 1- Best relief is keeping ice cold water in your mouth specificaly wherever is most itchy. Huge relief!!! 2- Pick a side and pull them out from the inner-side of your mouth on your wisdom teeth, and it easily peels off of your teeth. 3- Try to keep ur upper and lower jaw seperated, the less ur trays touch each other, the less u feel ur teeth. I know it is kind of tough but by biting ur trays u make ur teeth and gum more alert and sensitive against pain. Not letting ur trays touch each other helps pretending that they r not there. 4- In my case, on the 4th day (after the 3rd day of teeth, jaw and head aches) I realized it started to cause more pain to not to have them on. So try to keep them on as long as u can. 5- Don't try to give your teeth a moment of relief by taking your trays out even for one second because your teeth lean more on going to where they were rather than stay where they r. So you would cause urself longer periods of pain in return of a second of relief. Peace ✌️ I hope ur experience is less painful and annoying than mine.

In another comment someone said they had an impacted canine and they went through a huge long and tricky process to fix them with invisiline. Gluck Orthodontics replied saying that aligners can have rubber band attachments to fix something like an impacted canine, but it's an inefficient process, and that it's because the mechanics of aligners makes them difficult to do a pulling motion. If you want to have the best option for getting teeth straightened, I would opt for braces, since they're a safer bet.

My orthodontist suggested traditional for my teeth because my canines needed to rotate. He didn’t think that Invisalign would work as well. I told him that I knew I would end up with worse teeth with traditional. I grew up in a house where floss was not bought. I was working on becoming a regular glosser as an adult. Flossing would be a chore that i would get sick of with regular braces. I also wanted to be able to eat what I wanted. I didn’t want to worry about broken pieces in my mouth. So he respected my wishes and I wore my Invisalign all the time like I was suppose to. In the end my orthodontist was impressed how well the Invisalign worked and I was happy too!!! Bc of the crooked bite I had so long, I had a tooth that was shortened. They put a veneer on that one. The work was done so well that no one has a clue that it’s a veneer

I got the dental plan to see what could be done about my gaps and a crooked tooth. Invisalign can only move front teeth. They would close the gap and fix one crooked tooth but essentially create a huge gap between my canine and first molar. So large it would look like I'm missing teeth vs now where my gaps aren't huge, just spaced out.

You forgot consequence. The problem with using braces (based on my experience) is if brace alignment breaks (especially the wire), chances of getting an injury (with the wires) are unpleasant and can possibly be fatal. That is, if there is serious contact made to the braces. You also forgot cleanliness. If you want to keep your teeth clean and want to floss, then it’s best with an Invisalign and tooth management will be easier to deal with. Plus, it won’t ruin daily habits for just eating food. Went into traditional braces for 2.5 yearsish. They gave me invisilign retainers and my teeth started spacing after wearing them day and night with the exception of eating. I was so angry after the ortho insisted that they are better than Hawley retainer. They did not understand why. I recommend traditional. Metal is better than plastic. I feel that for bite issues, people shouldn’t be recommended plastic invisilign.

Great video. I’m on week 12 of 17 of Invisalign. I definitely see a difference. I was a teen when I had braces. I had permanent retainers, but stopped wearing my removable ones. That resulted in some slight spacing on the sides of my smile. All the orthodontist/dentist I went to said that Invisalign was pretty accurate in moving teeth. But, they did say that braces are better in some more difficult cases. I think it’s because with Invisalign, every patient should have in mind that there may be a refinement cycle after your first cycle of aligners. For me, Invisalign should only be done for cases that are a year or less. I can’t see wanting to wear aligners for years upon years. All the teeth brushing, remembering to switch aligners, taking them out when you drink stuff other than water etc. it comes with a lot. There’s pros and cons to both!

I am 47 and had braces put on over a year ago. At 16 months the ORTHO assistant said they can come off. I said I felt it was too soon as they had just moved into place and everything I read says 2-3yrs for adults with severe overbite. They took them off despite my request to go another few months. They told me to wear retainer 24/7 for 30 days then 8hrs at night. I got the wire put inside bottom teeth and retainer for the top. I wore retainer as they suggested and 2 months later I noticed them moving. I went back in and asked for retainer for bottom teeth as well. A few months later I noticed they were moving to the point that they looked like they were returning to pre-braces placement. And my retainers felt loose. I called and made appointment and they couldn’t see me for a month. At 7 mths I went in and they said they are definitely moving back. I asked for braces back on and showed them my retainers are soft and feel loose. And now I also have spaces between my teeth and I never had that before in my life. They agreed to give me InvisAlign for top teeth only. Orthodontist said 6 weeks minimum and will re-evaluate. The assistant when I went in to pick up the InvisAlign changed it to 4 weeks and booked my next appointment for 6 weeks. Also I now need 3 root canals and crowns on the teeth that were searing painful when I had braces on. I asked each appointment if I could get them off for a day and get those cavities fixed as I was worried about them. Assistant said no need they will be fine. I’m suspicious that I wasn’t given the proper advice and I know they didn’t give me the retainers made from the strongest plastic as I had asked for as they shouldn’t stretch and become loose in 3 months. What are my options? I made my next appointment with orthodontist personally as I’m concerned that the assistant always changes the treatment the orthodontist tells me.

Thank you for the video. I am an adult who has finally decided to get my teeth fixed (alignment and repair of two chipped front teeth). When I asked my dental hygienist to refer me to an orthodontist, she suggested I first see the dentist, for whom she works, because he also performs orthodontic treatment using ClearCorrect aligners. When reviewing the digital impressions and input from the laboratory, he explained everything to me about the process, and said that he would, during several different visits, do slicing/IPR by shaving a tiny amount of the enamel between several different teeth in order to make space for those teeth to move. He says he will not shave enough to cause harm (sensitivity, pain, more prone to cavities, etc.). As I am not very keen on having any of the enamel shaved on my teeth, my question now is whether it is possible to create sufficient space by doing something else such as further expanding the mouth arch or slowly moving teeth back a little towards the last molars to make space available in the rest of the mouth (I had my wisdom teeth extracted many years ago). Thank you in advance for your response.

Thanks for the comment Andrea! Crossbites come in various types - skeletal vs. dental are the main ones. You are absolutely right that this is a challenging orthodontic problem to correct. However, an orthodontist who is trained in this type of treatment with aligners, should be able to get it corrected (as long as patient cooperation is excellent) in the same amount of time as braces. They work well once u get used to them. Make sure your dentist doesn’t let I lapse longer than two weeks for your new aligners or your teeth will start moving back like my dentist did. I waited two months till my next set of aligners were ready? Then I had to start the process all over again after wearing them for 8 months. Also, prepare to start clenching your teeth a lot while wearing them and start noticing facial mouth lines like jowls appearing along each side of your mouth. The teeth quenching is very common?

I had a terrible orthodontist 20 yrs ago. My metal brackets were placed too close to my gum line. It was extremely hard to brush. And after 4 years of wearing them, when it was time to have them removed, he failed to take all of the glue off. I slowly lost my teeth due to decay. I will be getting permanent dentures later this year.

"Don't break anything.." I had a genius ortho in the 70's who accused me of taking pliers to school in my purse to remove tie-wires in the bathroom. I did exactly as instructed with foods & keeping mouth clean. Went through 4 years of that torture. The braces now are amazing...glad the old type are gone- hopefully forever.

@GluckOrthodontics4 жыл бұрын
Awesome question! Our suggestion is to schedule a visit to the General Dentist first, for a comprehensive exam and cleaning. You may need to have some dental work completed first. That would be the top priority. Once all of that is done, then you can see the orthodontist about a consultation. Have a great day!

Hey thanks for the video! What about lingual braces? Wouldn’t that be even a more cosmetic option? Thanks!
@GluckOrthodontics3 жыл бұрын
You're correct! That would be the ultimate cosmetic option! Most orthodontists do not offer them due to the complexity of treatment, difficulty working on the inside of the teeth, and lack of patient comfort. That said, there are some awesome lingual practitioners out there who do an incredible job!

Good info but - you missed a massive point with "convenience" and aligners. I'm 4wks into Invisalign, am in my early 40s, and I wish I'd gone with clear braces. I rarely get to stop for meals during work, plus am naturally a mega slow eater with a poor appetite. So I rely on more small meals to keep up blood sugar etc. Add to this, I have pretty severe ADHD. Having to take out the aligners and clean every time you eat is a huge minus. It's disrupted my eating a lot (I was underweight and had only just gotten into good eating habits) and I can forget to put them back in if I get distracted. Def something to consider!

@@GluckOrthodontics Thanks for the quick reply. I have gum recession and already scheduled an appointment with a periodontist before having the appointment with the orthodontist. Does it matter if we do the invisalign treatment with a general dentist rather than witj an orthodontist?

I have a question so here’s bit of context. My upper canines are slightly outward and up, meaning, due to the lack of space, they’re a bit jutted out. It’s not too noticeable but when looking at my smile from the sides it appears awkward since there’s space visible on each side of the point of the canines. My central incisors looks fine and straight but if u look from down up, u can see they are tilted just a tiny bit inward. Kind of like a “V” I was recommended myobrace or invisalign by my orthodontist. Invisalign is really expensive and I’m not so sure to trust myself with wearing it frequently since I’m at university. But ive only seen information about myobrace in kids and my orthodontist said it’s more so for the muscle or smth like that idk. He kept stressing that with Invisalign he snd i will both know exactly what my teeth will look like at the end. Whereas, with myobrace he cant guarantee anything. It’s all irritating because ive been to two places so far and i dont trust that they’re not trying to just sell an expensive option. With this information which do you think is a better option?

I got jumped by 7 dudes as I tried to split an heated argument between a friend of mine and them. As I started to handle 2 guys I got cowardly punched at the top part of my front tooths. I got a permenant retainer attached that same day (around 2018) behind my 3 upper left teeth. However, as time passed, my right second upper tooth (bunny teeth, don't know how to call numbers) has overlap slightly over the next bunny teeth on which one end of permanent retainers starts. Today I just had a visit and wanted to take off the retainers and my dentist told me that it's better to go for braces to keep the traumatized teeth in place and aswell straighten my overlapping teeth. I didn't take off my permanent retainers today. I don't know what to decide, so I'm searching browsers and KZbin. Anyone please advice on what to do ? Should I go for traditional braces for the teeth straightening and for the other damaged teeths? Or should I go for invisiligns , which I don't know if I can afford but they suit me best . I feel so sad about my teeths. I wish I wasn't that day hanging around close to trouble. I just tried to make things right and that moment has cost me close to 5 years of dental retainers behind 3 damaged teeth that still move and hurt, and teeth overlapping

Hello there, I had brackets / bracers before when I was a teenager. My teeth were ok but I lost my retainers and my teeth got slightly crooked again. I’m debating on getting Invisalign or brackets put back in. What would you say is better to use for someone like me who had metal brackets before. What’s more effective?

It will hurt the first couple of days and the first couple of times you get the wires replaced but eventually you will get used to it. I also suggest getting a waterpik water flosser to help clean between your braces and teeth. You are lucky, i had to get braces, a palate expander and rubber bands.

I have used braces before, back whenever I was in middle school. However, I still have a bit of an overbite, and, after I had my four wisdom teeth removed several years ago, things don’t seem to be shaping up as I would like. My teeth are fairly straight, but I have a few that are trying to shift back into each other on the top and bottom rows. I am also a potential user who is blind, so audio descriptions of how the aligners work would’ve been helpful here. Whenever I used braces, I was very diligent in what I did, except whenever the braces popped off, or whatever my bottom retainer broke. However, both were my fault only. The braces didn’t hurt, as I have a high tolerance for pain, pretty much. This is due to me being a preemie. I will have to go to my local orthodontist to see if Invisalign is right for me. However, since Frank Sharp, the one who did my braces, no longer works in my area, I will have to find a new one. That is, a new orthodontist, the same one that some of my family members go to. Thank you for the video, and I look forward to seeing what you have next.
@walaaellakany53623 жыл бұрын
He didn’t mention that aligners take almost double the time the braces take, so you visit the dentist more and that you have to take them off even for drinking coffee which is so inconvenient. Also, now you don’t have to worry about the appearance since you have to wear a mask.
@GluckOrthodontics3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! In our experience, braces and aligner cases take about the same amount of time. There are some cases in which aligner treatment can be faster! And we see patients on 10-12 week rotations, so less visits to our office than braces. That's one reason patients love aligners. Have a great day!

Also not an inconvenience to take out for coffee. They helped me stop snacking, drink more water and have better oral hygiene. If I’d had braces there is a LOAD of food you can’t eat, like apples etc. I could eat whatever I wanted with aligners.
