In these days of digital everything it is difficult to imagine just how much work must have gone in to making something like this! I am glad we still get to see it.

I remember these on TV in the 60s.

That was a newer version, with sound and color. I saw it on a UHF station, I think.

Koko the Clown was really like a very impressive person that barely anybody knows about apart from one famous action/work (that being the Cab Calloway cartoon "St. James Infirmary"). He was the first truly mainstream character to have rotoscope, which would change animation as we know it. It's a shame that not many people really know about these cartoons nowadays, because these shorts are genuinely hilarious and really pushed the boundaries for early animation.

It would be really fun to have a Koko swimming in an invisible ink bottle t-shirt!

Fleischer invented it
@garryferrington811Ай бұрын
Yep. Patented it, too. Then he invented the rotograph to combine cel animation with live action. You can see it in action in some later Inkwells. Max was a genius.

This confirms my suspicion the others had dialogue cards.

Wow. So this is where that Looney Tunes one of Daffy vs the animator got its idea from!
