rutger You are right it is a problem which is why I did a quick demonstration so you can see exactly what happens when the product has been applied. If you had to rely on my word it would be all about trust and the question is "Why should you trust me?" I don't trust anyone, I want proof and when someone comes to us with a product I want to make sure it works before I give it my approval. We turn down quite a lot of stuff.

@@SkillBuilder what if the wood also has early signs of wet rot and woodworm? Do these products compare with Everbuild 3 in 1 or the Berretine products? A comparison would be more useful. Btw, Bostik Water Seal is half the price and just as effective as that Storm Guard masonry cream you reviewed.

Hi Roger, great video as usual. Would you think there is any advantage or disadvantages to coating shiplap before installation
@SkillBuilder

Yes if it is possible to lay the cut lengths out and give them a coat it would be way better. The end grain is always more absorbent so it needs treating.

Hi Roger Great video, as always, very enjoyable. I bought untreated scaffold batons for two purposes, 1) Forming for concrete moulds. 2) Then after, to be used as the walls of an outbuilding. I'm thinking of treating the wooden batons prior to the concrete forming construction. With the purpose described, what would you regard as the best treatment preserver in the UK? Regards Robert

I have heard that sometimes these types of products let water in overtime and is very hard to dry and rots it from the inside. This is why the documentation often says not for ground contact. I know this isn't but worth mentioning the timber must be bone dry before applying else you are trapping moisture in the wood. Usually happens with surface treated preservers. Best to soak the whole wood if possible to penetarte right through the wood. The cream looks interesting though. I have only used Ronseal shed and fence preserver solvant based. Expensive but good.

That's good stuff, I used some water based stuff recently on my shed, apparently a single coat type application. Gave it 3 coats on some bits, completely shite and wasn't cheap. Think it was fence guard or something like that. Your stuff looks as though it could be rollered on, if only somebody would invent a profiled paint roller and make it easy to apply on ship lap type walls. Why didn't you spray the patio cleaner onto wood and scrub?
