HFY is a story/series that takes a “human element” in either humanity or an “other” (race/species or object) that exists in a “setting” (future or other world/universe) with varying levels of culture, technology, society and history that help show in some shape or form the potential good or bad for humanity’s race/culture. In These stories Humans are often referred to as Human, Humanity, Deathworlder, Hellwolder in reference to the human planet of origin , Earth. This planet is seen by most of the universe as a place where only death and chaos can survive.

In these Stories we normally View humans like the other races view orcs in a Fantasy Novel. We (Humans) share the same characteristics and personalities as orcs. Humans are normally treated as the outsiders and barbarians. Humans tend to be underestimated as well in these stories. Unlike Humanity Feck Yea , these don't always put a positive spin on humans\humanity sometimes looking at the darker side of human and humanity from the perspective of aliens.

i think the reason that it sees us as beautiful is that some shrimp can see brown differently than us because brown is what we see when we don't have the proper light receptors to see a color or something. if you want a better explanation, google it.

@@firedirewolf An anthology, as I know it, is a collection of stories set in the same universe or following the same theme. These can be from the same author, or a pool of authors working together. So, for example, the main story of Fallout 3 would be considered a single book series (for the sake of the metaphor) whereas a collection of various short stories about different people across the Capital Wasteland would be an anthology, the Fallout Universe being it’s shared theme

@@Josh-iv2bw Well, with women, it's because we can't have both X chromasomes running at the same time, so they randomly shut off at a certain point after conception. Thus, the stripes as they start multiplying afterward. Would be fun if they actually showed different colors in visible light!

Which is why most calico cats are female. Female mammals (except the spiny rat) have less phenotypic diversity owing to increased genetic variance from 2 X chromosomes. Now, Turner, XO, and Kleinfelter XXY, are the exceptions. This leads to the best, and worst, at almost anything being male among mammals (keep the spotted Hyena and naked mole rat as exception). Kirlian photography is a collection of photographic techniques used to capture the phenomenon of electrical coronal discharges. I.E. Kirlian photography is simply the capture of the light from an object's corona discharge using a photographic plate that is placed very close to the object. The stripes are from the selective inactivation of one of the two X chromosomes in females. This happens early in fetal development, with some cells inactivating one X chromosome and some inactivating the other. This results in a striped pattern in the skin that can be detected using specific wavelengths of light, but is much too faint to be seen normally. A similar effect can be seen in males with chimerism (multiple genomes due to an absorbed fraternal twin).

If something is as hot as Death Valley and humid, then no humans survive. That's just instant heat stroke. Sweat is how we regulate our temperature in hot climates. A humid environment means your sweat doesn't vaporize as easily. In a few short words. 40C in New Orleans is deadly. 40C in Death Valley is a very thirsty day.

The alien sounds like it is based on the Mantis Shrimp, their eyes have 12 color receptors while humans only have three. They can also see UV and polarized light.

Hmmm... interesting. While what I think isn't overly scientific, I'd say a part of it also has to do with waste heat elimination which could be seen with heat-sensitive eyes. Not so much heat vision as infra-red vision. As it wasn't given enough detail, the "stripes" could be sweat trails or the heat from the bodies musculature with the arm, leg and neck muscles providing the "stripes" as well as the abdominal muscles.
