Thats awesome you take the time to help others out. I hope they appreciate your efforts. Quick question. How do you know so much about electrical systems?

I have a passion for metal shaping but try to learn a little about everything. Building the wiring harness for the R1 mid engine sports car helped too. I had fun making this series of videos on the truck!

This is a huge help. A buddy of mine and I both have the same truck and this video is priceless. I’ve just dumped a bunch of money and chasing down every possible reason why my truck hasn’t been charging new alternator crankshaft sensor, and a few other parts. I think tomorrow with the seeds of your knowledge I’ll get this turkey charging again.

I feel your pain!! Went through the same thing before I got fed up and ditched the computer. At the time I was shocked that this old truck had one... Let me know how it goes for you.

Hello sir I have a 93 dodge d250 I found your video and can't seem to see what wires are for the alternator fields wires coming from the computer?

I'm new at this stuff but trying to get schematic or videos better on 1992 5.9L D250 Cummings for the fusible links to figure which blew, how to test to figure, and replace. Thanks!

@iNVision Prototypes ...when doing the hardwiring modifications should i have the ECU disconnected? Currently mine is connected, and I tapped into the two wires, installed everything per instructions, truck is now getting a consistent 14.7v I am aslo going to do the A/C hardwire and put the grids on a momentary switch as well. Thank you very much for all you're help, some great info in these videos
@iNVisionPrototypes Жыл бұрын
Hi Greg, might be a good thing to disconnect and pull it for a little weight reduction. These suggested mods are for a completely dead BCM and might create back feeding issues for other items that are still working off the unit. Glad I could help.

@@iNVisionPrototypes nice I'll try removing it this afternoon... by the way, the A/C hardwiring worked like a charm. Thanks you

@@greglupien Glad to hear your AC is up and running! Just remember to manually turn it off by selecting "OFF", "VENT" or "HEAT" before starting the truck. Makes things a little easier on the starter. 👍

I am lost my wire harness on the ASD really it has two blue one is blue with a black line. The other is a solid blue. I have a blue yellow for the fuel pump, a red for hot and a green with black. Need help
@iNVisionPrototypes Жыл бұрын
Lets see if we can figure this out. What year of truck you have? Do you mean fuel injection pump? The colours indicated in the video are what the wiring schematics show as well.
@Tsaul968 Жыл бұрын
91 is the year my ASD relay has two blue wires one is a solid blue wire. The other wire is blue with black. I have a red wire. I have a green with black and a blue with the yellow…. Blue with yellow goes to fuel pump on gas tank blue with black stripe goes to alternator green with black goes pcm red as well
@iNVisionPrototypes Жыл бұрын
@@Tsaul968 I checked my schematic binder. For gas engines there is a reference to another sheet. I only have schematics for a diesel. If you have tested your alternator to make sure it's good, have switched 12VDC to the ASD relay(clicks on and off when key turned) and are sure that your computer is DEAD you can try rewiring the charging system. I will try to help you find a solution BUT Proceed at YOUR OWN RISK as I can't see what you have. If we work with just the ASD relay(unplug it) you should have some numbers on the bottom... 85, 86, 30, 87 & 87A. Your solid blue should be pin86 12V switched ignition. Take test light plug in & turn the key if it goes on/off thats good. Green/blk stripe goes to computer and should be pin85 on the relay (numbers might be the other way around) This wire will need to be taken and grounded to the chassis. Pin30 should be your 12V HOT at ALL times(test light ignition on/off) Blue/yellow pin87 gets energized ONLY when ignition is on. Relay allows 12V to flow from red to your blue/yellow when the truck is running for your fuel pump. Tap into this blue/yellow wire to feed the 12V ignition terminal for the voltage regulator(refer to diagram that comes with unit). You say that the blue/black wire goes to the alternator. Just to make sure it's the field winding (F) trace it from the alternator back to the relay If that's the wire remove it from the relay &connect to the (F) terminal on the firewall regulator. Since I can't see your setup make final connections AT YOUR OWN RISK. If connected wrong it will mess up the firewall regulator or worse... If everything is connected right when you fire the truck up your gauge should show it's charging.

OK I was wrong I have two blue wires one wire jumps from ADS relay to another relay green with black is for the coil ignition the other blue wire runs all the way to the alternator from my ASD relay I have a green wire from the alternator that I need to locate
@iNVisionPrototypes Жыл бұрын
@@Tsaul968 K. That's really different than a diesel. You'll need the alternator's field winding wire to connect to the respective terminal on the regulator(refer to it's diagram) ASD relay will then power the regulator when the key is turned on and regulator will control the alternator.

Hi Eddie, Glad you liked the video. Part number for the regulator is there in the description. 1st paragraph, 2nd sentence. AC Delco C603Z can be found at your local parts store, eCove or jungle website. Thanks for watching! 👍
