As soon as the intro music starts - it's nostalgia overload. Bittersweet and often painful. I know I'm not the only one who wishes they could go back in time and do it all over again.

@@deanpesaturo6401 Yes this is one of Wes Craven's early works....I had the biggest crush on "Susan Lucci" during her soap opera days....."Erica Kane" will always be my favorite character she played...But this film was fine example you don't need any over sexed crazed scenes, no bad language, & still spooky enough to keep your interest.....

I haven't seen this show since I was 13. It definitely made an impact on me and it had a positive message. For many people, success comes at a high price. Compared to today's television, this seems innocent in some ways. For example, he fought to literally save his family and he resisted that secret society. This movie contains truth.

It is hard to imagine, or remember, a time when any film or TV series would promote and glorify good, honour, parental dedication, true love, marriage and family, while properly portraying the feeble forces of evil, thuggery, lust and lies. God love anyone who tried then, and God help anyone who tries now.

I just discovered this movie a few nights ago as a KZbin recommendation. I loved it!! Sort of an offbeat spin off on the movie "Poltergeist" only instead of a haunted house its an evil demonic club. The chemistry between Patricia and Matt is so beautiful. They are such a wonderful married couple and he really loves her so much. Her kids are great! Punky Brewster and the kid from "Neverending story". And Susan Lucci as the evil Steaming Springs temptress who tempts then condemns the whole SoCal town they are in to the evil "club". Amazing! The movie really shows what happens when you drink the corporate Kool-Aid. I'm glad Pat realized she already had everything to make her happy. I really loved this movie! Bring back the 80s! I think it goes without saying the 80s had way better entertainment for sure.

Barret Oliver was a great actor. He chose to leave acting in his mid-teens. I respect his choice, and he doesn't have to justify it to anyone, but I think it's a shame we don't hear much about him any more. I know he practices photography, and specialises in unique 19th century techniques. Seems like he has a real talent for this. As long as he is happy I guess. And I get it why he wants to keep away from public scrutiny. We all have a right to privacy. But it would be so cool to hear him make the occasional public appearance or to make a few public comments every now and again. ❤

For a morality tale, this outing hits all the contemporary notes of upward-striving, success-oriented ruthlessness of our present civilization, and it provides an answer in the healing power of love, but the plot short-changes The Devil. If everyone, save Matthew, entered this miniature version of Hell (except -- a plot hole -- the little girl) utterly voluntarily, why would his rescue of his family destroy the entire operation? All those corporate strivers -- where are they? And the secretary, Grace -- is she still dead? I guess I'll have to rest content with the idea that the father of the family (a category which includes me) resisted the Call of Evil and conquered Hell with the power of love; that's upbeat enough.

It's like, a triple cross between, the 'The Stepford Wives', 'The Colony', and 'Invasion Of The Body Snatchers'. With a touch, of 'The Bad Seed'. The 'Bad Seed' insinuation, only 'cause Patricia, is in it😏. Complete with Susan Lucci, in a horror film, which is rare. I believe this is the ONLY ONE, she is in.

Satan appears as an angel of light. When they shame you into thinking you're just afraid of success, they're lying to you. Once you know this about corruption in high (and low) places, you can see through all manner of deception.

Save it for someone dumb enough, and if you think dumbass will get any of his laws passed for two years then you are highly mistaken.

Yikes, they're all demons. Robert Urich was a deep believer when he was alive. Interesting to see how he handles this. Major temptation is prevalent. Reminds me of "The Colony" with John Ritter, another top notch believer.
