Great vlog and it captures the warmth of the Indonesian people so well. I haven't been in Bekasi although many times in Jakarta. I hope you will be able to spend at least a couple of weeks because the cultural diversity and scenery in other parts of the country are great-- personal favs are Yogyakarta, as well as Sulewesi and Sumatera for something a bit different.

Terrific video dude! In Indonesia, especially Jakarta (and its surroundings) is a 1 shop entertainment place. U can see both modern & traditional sites at the same time. Some tourists thinking Indonesia is still quite traditional as it is indeed still developing country, but in Jakarta it is like heaven of malls. So many malls you cant even count on how many it is now, and they're all modern, even better compared to Doha (Qatar) in which I'm living in now. And the best thing is, it may seem sooo cheap, moreover if your money is Pounds. Of course if you buy things in mall there could be more pricey, moreover if it is imported goods/ foods. Well. good job dude, cant wait for your next videos.

Hi Jason! Just wanna inform you that the traditional weddings here usually last longer than that. In some cases it can even last for an entire day (yes, 24 hours). However, those long weddings are usually held at the couples' homes, not in a public hall like you just attended.

FYI, Indonesian wedding is actually longer than that. The wedding ceremony often start 1-3 hours earlier from the wedding reception. But people here usually only attending the wedding reception/party, due to the stigma that only close relative allowed (or invited) to attend wedding ceremony. I mean, the main point is the ceremony right?!? It's still weird to think people here treat wedding reception like it's the main event. Well, as long as you get the foods...

But, why does the wedding not last longer? And do you not have a limited number of guests? What does the bride and groom makeup signify?

It actually depends on the area in Indonesia. Back in smaller towns, the guests would stay longer and have karoeke session in the wedding.

i just wanna tell you that that is not cendol, the cart actually says "es dawet" so it's dawet. cendol is made of rice flour while dawet is made of sago flour. same shape, different ingredients. but anyway people don't know about this difference and just call everything that looks like that "cendol"
