You can't play a game that requires a minimum of 40 cards per deck with an archetype that only has 15 playable enough in-archetype main deck cards. So, what are you gonna do? Splash them to a complementary archetype because it makes sense to do so. :)

@@bl00by_ the fact still remains that Invoked is much better as a complementary engine than a standalone archetype, and not even your biases can change that because Konami made it so that the archetype functions that way. I mean, 3-axis Dragon Link exists, a literal kitchen sink deck, and Invoked are still the ones getting hate? I'm just saying, props to the originator for his "creativity", I suppose, but that deck is a living proof that Yu-Gi-Oh does not have to be landlocked behind the boundaries of their types, attributes, or archetypes, and complaining about those things without seeing the reality of the modern meta game is just dumb.

The "You can't play X card in the same deck as Y card" is something that Vanguard does too, and it saved most of the subpar archetypes from getting their main strong units banned just because they get abused in ways they weren't supposed to

True, but early Yugioh had the excuse of not having designated true archetypes. It's different when in the current status quo of Yugioh, where archetypes are supposed to be decks, that an archetype can be made that is essentially just an engine that can be thrown in other decks. Dogmatika is a peak example. It's literally a control engine that you can throw in better control decks to boost them. They aren't really good on their own, and that's kinda sad.

@@darkanddolly16 Sure, I can agree to this. However, I think the function of archetypes is so that each deck can have its own flavor. Gravekeeper’s do completely different things compared to Swordsoul, Blackwings, etc. I think this is a good thing as archetypes promote diversity by comparison to old Yugioh. That's not really a knock on old school formats by the way, that's just how it was back in the day. The only comprable archetype back then was Gravekeeper’s and Dark Scorpions. I do see your point though.

I think that mixing up archetypes and making it work its pretty fun, as long as you aren't just taking OP cards to make an OP deck. I made a number shark ice barrier deck, and the interactions are too fun, discarding xyz revive splash with revealer; SS Wayne with Lantern shark; discarding buzzsaw with revealer and then reviving it with auradolphin. It ain't meta, but it's fun

Yeah but unlike invoked they can actually be played pure, they have enough cards where you can just play them pure and splash in other traps as opposed to splashing in other engines. Invoked literally doesn't have enough good main deck cards to even fill up half of the deck.

I don't see the problem with engine decks. Like, it's cool to be able to mix a ton of things. Yugioh is like, the 1 card game where mixing seems to be completely condemned by the community. Mixing stuff is cool when it works, both at low and high levels. I remember a fun deck I had back in MR3, toon volcanic destiny hero. Was it good? Not really, but it functioned, and it was pretty fun to pilot

Its the thought refuge of bad players. Either they lose because A: the 'meta' consists of people not playing 'pure' decks and playing generically good cards or B: the 'meta' is so uncreative players don't make unique decks they just use all the good archetype cards and the deck plays itself.

Such a cool deck, but so easy to get it on the wrong spot. Btw, worst deck to play pure is Kaiju: you can only control one monster and every kaiju can use its effects against you because they can take the counters from both sides. And it has literally anti-support

Hi, I'm looking to get Konami to fix a bug in invoked archetype it seems that my fusion invoked monsters "fusion monst." Are not summoning with Omega Summon "trap." I am using Pot of Extravagance to have them banished. I feel like this is all done properly. And it's a bug that has not been seen yet. I wish to have this figured out. I built a deck with time lords and all.

Imo, 2 archetypes and 1 smaller/supplementary archetype are the most you can do before you sell your soul. In my case, I played Shaddoll Danger Invoked on MD before quitting. On Dueling Nexus (Too lazy to go DuelingBook due to manual action) I play hand trap Invoked. It's fun.

I returned to yugioh a while ago starting with pure shaddoll and when I had some money to spare I bought a dogma engine and with the invocation reprint, an invoked engine and its already starting to box out space for other cards that I couldn’t bring myself to add another engine because it’d not feel the same anymore, it already feels different but still has everything work together in a way that is fun to play, running like 7 shaddoll cards would hurt that too much

I enjoy some pile builds, i get why some people dont like it but i enjoy seeing some creativity out of the community. Even if invoked shaddoll dogmatika despia adventure DPE turbo is prevelant in the meta i never feel bad losing to it, at least i dont feel any worse losing to that than some other degenerate decks of the format.

People can hate on Invoked and archetypes designed like it all they want, but there's no denying the fact that certain decks are made with the thought of being splashed into certain strategies to boost the said strategies' either power, consistency, or anything else, and in Invoked's case, it's a Fusion based archetype that does not have enough (or does not have any other at all) main deck monsters to be used as materials, aside from Aleister. I get it, people see it as "too convenient", but not because you feel that way, doesn't change the fact that it needs a mutualistic relationship with 1+ archetypes to function properly, including hand traps.
