I really feel I turned into a psychopath with lexapro. No emotion at all. Totally rational thinking and driven by pure intelligence, no feelings. Calculated. I can see how you could really rise fast to CEO level on this drug. No shame in the game at all. No guilt, no anger, no fear, no shame, no nervousness, no anxiety no apologies. Full focussed confidence. Really weird experience. I would stay on it for work/professional progression reasons apart from the fact that it zapped my energy. I knew to taper off when my partner started calling me a psychopath and questioning my humanity given I'm usually a highly sensitive and empathetic person. I can see it would be an interesting tool being used in the C suit.

Taking a pill for depression should be a last resort. Full social, nutritional exercise evaluation should be assessed. She does a wonderful job explaining the emotional and physical numbness. It happened to me around age 16, and I'm 63 and still feel "flat" most of the time. I flux from numb to aggitation to panic to numb. It's a horrible emotional rollercoaster. I feel so badly for her and pray that she feels normal again soon. Its not only difficult for the sufferer but it also effects their loved ones.

My grandmother was born in 1910 and considered doctors only slightly below God in her esteem. In her lifetime they put a stop to people's children dying all the time and people losing a limb or their life from a careless small cut and subsequently infected fingers general diseases with antibiotics and then when it seemed that they couldn't do at more they worked out how to literally bring back people from the dead with CPR. Since then it seems that all tjis went to their head sand they leaned back on their laurels because they thought that they now knew everything. Which is the surest way to close one's mind.

In countries with socialized healthcare suing doctors & hospitals is far more difficult then it is in the US. Australia is a little better then others, as they sort of have a hybrid system. Basicly in socialized healthcare the customer is the goverment. The customer (goverment) provides legal protections to the healthcare industry no other industry gets. When you try to appeal, you appeal to the customer ( the government) When you have to ask the very same entity that pays the bill, getting a result in your favor is not likely, even when all evidence indicates they should find in your favor it has a low likelihood of happening. TLDR: He who pays the bill rules the day.

Antidepressants (SSRI/SSNRI) working mechanism is that beginning with one single dose the ZNS is flooded with serotonine , due to the blocking of the reuptake. Their work mechanism is on the 5HT serotonine receptors and the brain also reacts against the higher serotonine levels with a downregulation of the different 5HT receptors in the entire ZNS what leads to the typical side effects. 1. 5HT2A : Anxiety, insomnia, overstimulation, emotional numbness also due to downregulation of dopamine levels, when serotonine levels are too high 2. 5HT1A: Effects on autonomic functions such as heartbeat, breathing , body temperature, sweating, vegetative nervous system 3. 5HT3: Nausea, vomitting, gut disorders, change of bowl movements 4. 5HT2C: Sexual dysfuntions, PSSD, loss of appetite, loss of body feeling Furthermore we have 14 different serotonine receptors in the body, which regulate different systems or body functions together with other transmitters and hormones in the body, which are affected through changes of serotonine levels in the ZNS...

I went off and on most of that crap for many years … There was bugger -doctors would tell me they gave me the same sort of bullshit that that nice ladies talk gave me.😢 I could give you a list of the so-called symptoms, but they were all mixed up in a muddle. It was like a recipe with ingredients I hadn’t tasted, or maybe had but I don’t know. For 10 years I was in full and brutal withdrawal, and I have just managed to get over it in the past few years now and that means that for 10 years I was in withdrawal and I believe for 10 or maybe even 20 years before that I was in the midst of Some sort of drug cocktail. After those years passed, and then that last 10 years, I think I am now over it. I sure hope so.

You are so right. After digging into true crime and profiling I read quite a few professionals and instantly realized they were lying to me. Two eye specialist lied that I had an inoperable eye problem that surgery wouldn’t fix and told me I would be in increasing pain and then they could operate because there would be no other option. Lies! There is nothing wrong with my eyes at all. Then there were a few dentists. The last one told me my teeth didn’t need work but I had bad gum disease but they would wait till it got worse and then they would send me to a surgeon. Lies! I needed three crowns and many fillings and five of my teeth were cracked on three sides. And I needed a night guard for bruxism. It turns out that my gums are in amazing shape for my age. 1-3 measurement is healthy and that is what my whole mouth is. I am composing a Ripoff Report for them. It is a review even their Lawyer cannot take down forever! I had an Uncle (eye surgeon) in the 70’s tell me they were changing the requirements and factors they were looking for in doctors. Not so much emphasis on math and more on bedside manner. Scared the hell out of me. If you are a surgeon you’d better have a good bead on measurement accuracy! Things have loosened up to the point I wonder how much truth and accuracy is valued anymore even in the chemistry of medicines? Yes, trust your gut. God gave us one for a reason. It has never failed me. All criminally minded people need is means, opportunity and plausible deniability. I believe these effects are intentional. 100%

How Rosie has described the symptoms of sexual disfunction (lack of libido) and I had no feelings for anything or anyone, nothing ! .I was taking Temazepam for 31 yrs.Unlike Rosie she went back to Dr and question why she was getting these symptoms. I never did, feel like I lost my life,I stopped even meeting people or even wanting to start a relationship with someone of the opposite sex.I used to joke to people when they were explaining about how they loved someone,my reply was always 'what's that mean',I've never been in love'.

I so feel for Rosie, but there’s something that we could have benefited from that got missed. Between her office visit and being committed to the psych ward, most of the detail was missing. I felt that Rosie was reliving the trauma, the distress she was under, and the agitation it induced. We feel for her, but what can we learn from this? She wasn’t going to get any help from the psychiatrist, so how could anyone avoid the consequence she paid for trying to be heard? I’ve learned that one can’t let the stress take over in these situations since it will invariably work against you. As soon as you realize that you’re not getting anywhere, it’s better to back off when you can still get out. We have to do that with the police-remain calm and cooperative, not matter what. Confrontation and escalation of emotion won’t convince anyone, but it will give them ammunition to commit you. Challenges go against what they believe is their professional knowledge, their ego, and the whole current system of how psychiatry works. We have to suck that up and make sure we don’t incur more damage as a result of our behavior, regardless of who or what is causing it. In any interaction, if you don’t let the other guy save face, you’ve got an enemy, and if they have more power than you do, it’s you that will pay the consequence. It's especially difficult for those with problems that affect our behavior and presentation, but in today's world, we have to. Peers are a much safer place to let off the steam. Also, maybe could explore the tactic of having a patient advocate / support person come along for balance out the power dynamic and help get points across in a non-confrontational way.

Of course this is all driven by money. In the US, doctors receive bonuses from drugs companies or their intermediaries for prescribing addictive drugs or other drugs that are known to cause withdrawal symptoms. Big Pharma has so much to answer for. But what worries me most is the thought of a major disruption in the supply chain, and suddenly millions of people go in to withdrawal crisis. My step-daughters are both on SSRIs for anxiety and OCD and I really wish they could come off them. But these drugs will be pushed on to an entire generation of young people because this trade is extremely lucrative.

It's not addiction. It's physical dependency. There's a huge difference, and conflating it with addiction can stigmatized & make it easier to dismiss people like Rosie who have been harmed by these medications. Please research the difference between addiction & physical dependency.

@@williamallen7836 Silly nitpicking reply. Addiction implies dependency, be it physical or psychological. Either way it results in a tendency to self-medicate in order to avoid unpleasant feelings or sensations, or it leads to compulsive behaviour. The larger point, which you appear to have missed (presumably in order to find fault for the sake of it) is that BigPharma wants to addict as many people in the population because of the profit motive.

Thank you so much for sharing your story! I think I suffer from the same issue! But I think for me it might've been caused by ADHD meds. Also, in my case it's mostly genital numbness and libido issues but I've experienced some emotional blunting as well. It has literally made me feel suicidal. And like, I've talked to 2-3 GPs about it, gynecologist, sexologist, psychiatrist, pelvic therapist, surgeon who does gender affirming surgeries, naturopath, tried so many sex toys and creams, supplements, etc... No one/nothing has helped!!! And most have never heard of that either. I spent several months off all meds and it didn't change, I tried sooo many antidepressants. Some made me have involuntary contractions inside my genitalia that wouldn't stop (like PGAD) but I still felt nothing externally and the inner feeling was more irritating than pleasant too. Like, I'd take care of it but it wouldn't feel satisfying/fun and start again quickly and last hours. It's incredibly distressing!

I'm halfway through this video. Thanks for sharing your story. As a chronic fatigue sufferer i can relate to much of your hopelessness and the gaslighting from people around you. However, I think this can heal. I believe you would find more help from alternative medicine practitioners. Also, I think if you take the attention off your symptoms (extremely difficult I know) and put it onto something like helping someone else, the tiny moment where you are so distracted you completely forget about your symptoms is where healing can creep in. This is very difficult if you still have to work. Hopefully someone can take that pressure off you. You could try grounding, animal therapies, juicing, nutrition, natropathy...etc. I'm saying a big prayer for your recovery. ❤

I have only watched up to 9:23 in this video, but her experience in so many ways mirrors my own. I am from California, and while most of the damage I have I think came from an atypical antipsychotic, there are so many similarities. The "doctor", psychiatrist that did this to me was a complete greedy, evil quack, and I only learned of this far too late after the damage had been done by what he had prescribed me, but he charged at least $100 if not easily more per visit, which were only 20-30 minutes long, and I was paying him to destroy my life, essentially. I still can't sleep normally at all, my libido is dead, I can't feel happiness, beyond that my emotions are warped. I ended up involuntarily committed because the saphris I was on threw off the balance of dopamine and serotonin in my brain, and among the other things those neurotransmitters control, they affect aggression and irritability, so I had a phase of over a year where I had this mindless rage that could only barely be contained with lithium.

Dumb, but what the heck. ANyhow ,, sadly the herbs didn't cure the paxil withdrawals. And I had to go back on the paxil and went back to square one.
