And the real(politik) plot is revealed: the admiral assigned Ro to brink out Orta with the promise of weapons, so that he could be killed by the Cardassians, probably as a favor in exchange for concessions in the next round of negotiations with the Federation. A tangled web of dirty dealings, and very fitting for what we later see with Cardassian plots and culture. And unfortunately, it's not unheard of for a Starfleet admiral to betray the core ideals of the Federation for the sake of political expediency, much to our dismay.

It is confusing, but the meaning of some words like “inflammable” reflects that the prefix “in-“ is a homophone that can represent either one of two unrelated grammatical components. The first is a negation of the word to which it is affixed, as in “incapable” (meaning “not capable”, of course). The second grammatical component that “in-“ represents is, in contrast, an •intensifier•. Thus, in the word “inflammable”, the prefix does not negate the meaning of the root word, but emphasizes it. These conflicting meanings of a sound-alike prefix are a historical artifact reflecting the ad hoc development of natural languages: unlike, say, a computer programing language, natural languages are not systematically designed so that their symbolic components and grammar have absolutely specific, unambiguous meanings and functions. As it happens, though, the potentially confusing elements of the word “inflammable” create a real safety risk, in the possibility that some people encountering the word may erroneously think it means, “not able to burn". For this reason, since the mid-twentieth century safety advisories and warning signs in English have increasingly avoided that word, using simply, “flammable” (or, for example, “fire hazard”), to indicate any risk of fire or burning. The word “invaluable”, in contrast, may represent a different case, in which the prefix •is• used in its negative sense, but to a different effect than creating a meaning corresponding to “no value”. In “invaluable”, what is implied is, instead, that the thing under consideration is so precious that a specific valuation cannot be determined or applied. It conveys the sense of, “beyond value”.

@mike8631: Just an interested 3rd party to your post, and lifelong ST:TNG, etc. fan. Not trolling anyone, just need understanding. Why do you and others rush to be the 1st Reply post to any given YT video upload? Is there a prize or some sort of galactic-level bragging rights to being 1st the most? Not a criticism, just my mystified interest - please explain. Many thanks, Dr. J

I don't like your into and ending/outtakes. They are about annoying. FYI.
