The combination of legal speed limits, Innov K5 and your calm commentary makes this the best TT lap I have ever seen. The wide angle shows the beauty of the island and treacherousness of the course. All other laps I’ve seen are someone on ITV going full throttle all the way round……and as we know, when you hit 160mph plus tunnel vision and motion blur come in, not to mention 100% concentration. So this has probably done a lot for the IoM tourism outside of the TT. I know you’ve convinced me to go off peak with the missus. I can’t be arsed with the suicidal Dunlopesque maniacs or VR wannabes who, knowing my luck will cause a mishap for me. I should’ve gone a long time ago since my mum, dad and 3 older brothers went there before I was born, probably 1960/61. Would yiu believe my dad took them to watch the T.T. yet he was paralysed down his left side from age 19, and never rode a bike. Somewhere in my mum’s is a ViewMaster 3D photo reel of Douglas (if you’re “of an age” you’ll know what I mean) which i used to look at when I was little. My dad told me about the Tourist Trophy, so I knew from a young age what “T.T.” stood for! Yet, Mr Teapot, it was you who will take the credit for getting me over there, probably just after Easter 2023 when I gave a lull in my work before the onslaught! Thank you for the inspiration.

@@teapotone Thanks Bruce, your lap was inspirational, and it did show what the riders risk. A couple of crash pads at 140mph won’t do anything for the lamp post or a rider! I don’t do camping, but i will do hotels and I’ve decided I will send luggage on to the hotel so the missus’ belongings don’t have us wheelieing round the circuit. Keep up the good work!

Way back when I was a child, I used to go up to St Bees lighthouse as on some days I could hear the racers screaming over the TT course. Fast forwards to the late 90's & I took the family across on the historic cruise ship Balmoral(it used to do day-trips from Whitehaven)& the first thing I did on arrival was grab a taxi to travel the course. I now want to go to the TT on my bike, & have a ride about the island but finances lately mean it'll probably never happen(that & my health will also mean I won't get there) If I ever win the lottery without buying a ticket, that's my first mission....fill the bike, book a ferry ticket & away I'll go.

Great video Bruce! That takes me back. Not been to the island for way too long. Re the Nürburgring comments and 'boy racers' etc. I went with 4 mates (4 bikes, 1 car) to the Ring and in the two days we were there, it was closed 6 times for accidents! One Honda Blackbird came back on a truck in two halves! (and a Volvo 240 Wagon that had rolled) I did 4 laps and that was enough for me! I first went to the IOM on a family holiday in the 70's but it was in August-ish. 👍🏍

Bruce, I don't know if you have but Ramsey is a great place to stay. The Football Stadium turns into a camping ground and it's fantastic. There is a bar that's open all night (so if your tent fails you can kip in there and it's heated) and you're a 2 minute walk from Ramsey Square to watch all the action. The bar even does breakfast in the morning like a cafe, although there are loads of cafes and bars about the place and you're also not locked to one place when the racing starts. It's where we go when we go over and it's always been brilliant.

He was parked at a service staion in his private car, and a copper approached him and said, " you better get out of here, Mr Read, I can't guarantee your safety.🤣 Thankfully, the race continues. Another great video thank you, How are you getting on with your electronic air bag vest ? i'm debating weather to get a electronic or tethered.
@teapotone2 жыл бұрын
Cheers John, Well I’ve not crashed (yet) so can’t tell you how it performs for ‘real’, but as a day to day piece of kit there are no issues. A full charge can last as much as 4 days riding, I’ve worn it in hours of torrential rain with no issues to the electrics, and it is pretty much of no concern to wear. Negatives would be it restricts a fair amount of airflow to your upper body so in hot weather it is warm to wear. I always wear a rucksack when riding so have to wear that over the top of the vest, BUT this doesn’t effect the performance of the vest providing you wear the rucksack loose. My view is that I’d rather have the vest than not. I’ve had enough messages from people whose life has either been saved by the vest, or they’ve been prevented serious spinal injuries 🤷♂️👍

I note you seem to be sporting an air vest of some flavor. I couldn't find anything about it in your video list. What sort is it and what do you have to say about it (or them in general)?
@teapotone2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ray, yeah it’s a Helite Air Vest, one of their ‘E’ series - so you’re not tethered to the bike, it works off G-sensors to detect sudden movement. I’ve not done a vid on it yet as I like to properly use a product before I review it. Been wearing this since around Spring so will look at early next year for a vid. It’s a wee bit of extra faff - in terms of remembering to charge it every 3-4 days of use, and another bit of kit to put on, BUT I know from friends who’ve been wearing one when they’ve had an accident that it’s saved at least one of their lives and prevented probable paralysis in another. I feel very ‘on offer’ now if I ever don’t wear it for some reason. They’re expensive - but I’d certainly recommend them👍

Always envious watching your adventures Bruce, I've just joined the GSA family, I have a lot of questions to ask relating to mostly travel but also some about the bike, where would the best place be to put a fairly lengthy message to you, there is a good possibility of a subject for a video to help other bikers out in relation to embarking on a very first time travelling to Europe or another country, what are ALL the things you need to have so you don't get caught out and have obstacles in your way, some countries like Spain have rules like if you wear specs you must have 2 pairs, some insist on your bike having winter tyres at all times, always best to know what papers and any other considerations before you decide to go to any place outside of the UK rules.

pro tip from a tt marshal if you go to sure the phone shop and buy a pay and go sim card , also some mobile companies charge international for calls back to the uk. they do a basic phone and sim deal for like £20 with data included also helps keep an eye on costs for phoning home or data roaming. the phone is also works with uk sims so i keep my basic tt phone either in my jacket or in one of the cubby holes on bike or top box incase of emergencies and my smart phone is dead or something

And THAT is why the TT should be banned. Those speeds on those roads. Insane. .

@@teapotone Fantastically nuts. How many injured or killed Bikers does that stupidity encourage ? If it was only ONE, that would be too many. Look at the Reality of Racing. If you come off on a Track, you might slide along on your Kevlar-plated arse, and USE those expensive Loonie Leathers, (ready designed for crashing !), before hitting a Hay Bale. If you come off at the TT, you are likely to have your HEAD fly through some Woman's front room window, (after her Garden Wall !!), and your leathers will be a handy liquid blood-containing bag for the REST of you. I DON'T CARE if Loonies edit themselves out of the Gene Pool, the World is a better place for it, but I am a BIKER, First to Last, and one day a Bike will do what a Magnesium Mercedes once did, it will fly into a Crowd. Won't THAT be fantastic !!! .

In the immortal words of Greta - How Dare You! How dare you dictate what anyone else does with their own body. How dare you dictate whether people can make their own choice to do something or not. How dare you dictate whether someone can make the choice to go and watch this racing. Everyone who races knows the risks, and they make the decision to do it. Everyone who goes to watch the racing accepts there is a risk that these bikes and riders may come into contact with them if they are located anywhere around the track. Everyone who buys a house on the TT circuit is aware of the TT and the risks to their property from it. I bet you are one of these people who would buy a house near a circuit, then complain about the noise! Life is about living, life is about being alive. Some people choose to minimise any risk to themselves as much as possible, and others needs to take ultimate risk in order to feel alive. Each to their own, nobody should force their own beliefs on anyone else, whatever they are.

@@teapotone Oh how I Laughed ! THAT WAS BRILLIANT !! I KNEW you could do better !!! 3/10 for the 'Daring' Gumph. 1/10 for saying that I tell People what to do with their OWN body. I didn't. 7/10 for bursting into flames, (Like that Merc and that future Bike will do), because you KNOW that I am right. EVERY OTHER RACE TRACK IN THE WORLD keeps its Spectators well away from the often flying machines. The ONLY other exception is Rallying, and that has been tightened up for the same reason. I DARE because I am an Adult Biker who came off his Bike more than once, and walked away every time with only a skinned arse, bruised ego and bashed Bike, (which I had more concern for !). Till the Big One. A few months in Hospital DEFINITELY tells you that you are ALIVE, and teaches one that they are NOT Barry Sheen OR Eddie Kidd. No, One is MUCH smarter ! One LEARNS. I have not been on my Bike for a few years because of NBRI*, but I check them out every night. (Non Bike Related Illness.) As you sound like Fun, why not further emulate that Actress you look like, Mae West, or was it Fannie Howe ?, ( a question that I have often asked myself !), and if you are ever near sunny Goole, why not "Come up and see me sometime" ? We could have a chinwag, a cuppa and I could put you right on Biking ! And have a LAUGH. Overall, 11/10. Get a Vespa. .
