Seams to me if your fishing with a shanty it's perfect as you will bring the batteries in with you and keep them warm, I'll buy one this week, thanks for the review.

Yes the Reverse feature was just added for the 2014/2015 ice fishing season. Also the 10" auger is new this year. It is easy to switch the auger bits, just using the supplied Alan wrench and it pulls off easy. Reuse the same screw. The 6" hole hole mentioned earlier wouldn't work for the big walleye I caught last week... 29.5" Walleye!

Mine has a cheap plastic throttle that will break. It is designed to so you have to replace it. They may say " a metal one adds weight" but really, 2 or 3 ounces is bad? Also, the manual says do not over charge this. The battery cost will surprise you and when thousands of companies have a charging system that you do not have to baby sit while charging, Ion says be careful. If the other electric augers also have a whimpy charging system and throttle that will get brittle in the cold and break, avoid them, write them telling them why, and it will change but Ion will sell hundreds of thousands throttles to upset owners.

I purchased the 10inch last year and was very disappointed.

not nearly enough power. and it took forever to drill holes even in 9 inches of ice it had a tough time. I only was able to drill 4 holes through 18 inches. my buddy loves it for the 8 inch though.

Ya it looks like it powers out after 1 foot of ice with the 10 inch. Glad I watched this video before I got one. We get up to 30-40+ inches of ice some years and this just wouldn't work. I will stick with my old school jiffy.

I don't think the 10 inch is made for the early ions. I have 8 inch and it's amazing. my friends have some electric and gas augers and I blow them away in speed. you don't need 10 inch holes anyways. you can pull huge fish out a 8 inch hole easy

Full Charged Battery on the 10 inch ? 8 inch looks like a Full Charged Battery. 10 inch Shouldn't pull down that much on a full charge.
@SlayerWalleye6 жыл бұрын
Don Walker I’ve used it this year full charge and the 10” pulls it down while the 8” zips right through. I usually use the 10” when the ice is only 6-8” thick early season.

I like the 6". It is even faster then the 8", and you can get just about any fish through a 6" hole.

Its too heavy and waaaay to expensive...... You can build a drill auger for half the money and it weighs half as much.
