so frustrating that this isn't available for older models, the most requested feature in my book would be the call recording, and not being able to separate that from the AI transcription is absolutely ridiculous by Apple.

the call recoding feature is great. But when you think about it people tend to say Apple is always the same through out its iPhone releases meaning there is not much difference between older and newer iPhones. So maybe this is they’re way of saying “our newer model is great because it can support what the older version can’t”

@@fitsumalemeshet1552 Perhaps that's the way, I fail to understand that a call recording feature can't be implemented for previous versions just because you make "AI transcription" part of said feature. This is just a way to make a whole block of code, you are unwilling to break apart to allow some partial feature to be available for older devices that will receive the iOS update in any case. Let me top that, with I completely understand the idea of "older devices run old hardware, thus can't support specific feature" but to allow a 1 year iphone (and only the pro version of that model) while denying previous years? something doesn't feel right here.

True, I understand that very clearly. The use of an AI as an excuse to limit these new features on older versions is ridiculous. It also seems to be a marketing strategy, initially forcing people to buy the new phones to experience better performance. I can guarantee you, as an owner of the 15 Pro, that all these new features being applied to the device do not add any value to the user experience. They are just for a few days, and you forget they exist.

again the 15 pro/max has 8GB ddr5 ram which is needed as a minimum for apple intelligence and previous models under the pro only has ddr4 6GB of ram idk how ppl complain so much and want so much from a company but don’t have that same energy for others who can’t even accomplish a quarter of what apple delivers along with their customers privacy.

One thing I really hate about this update(it was introduced in beta 2) is the fact that you have dark icons on the notifications panel as well as spotlight, tips etc when I don’t have dark icons turn on. Why is that? Come on apple. I like having my phone on dark mode with regular icons(non-dark). I think it looks out of place/childish. I thought I was going to get used to, but I just can’t. Let me have regular dark mode with light icons as before!

I have the 15 pro max and have been on 18.1 beta 2 and have had a great experience. My phone is lasting all day with 30-40% left by the time I go to bed and rarely gets hot. I’m sitting at 96% battery health with 292 cycles

In clean up feature you don’t need to highlight the whole object. You can just draw a circle around the object and it will automatically figure out what you are trying to clean up.

it does, if you use the mail app it will summarize your emails, which currently is nothing major or beneficial. I suggested it would help if it tells me how many emails from specific senders, or updates on purchases/shipping - or cleaning up ads...It usually just reiterates the subject line lol

You can achieve these abilities with 3rd party apps, or even galleries. Google Photos has been doing this for some time on iPhones, and years on others. It's free so easy to download and try. I've used it on a 14pro and works great. I've not played with for a while to see if the magic editor work's on iPhone too though, where can move and resize objects, people, animals etc. Will have to check. But can definitely use the magic eraser and that works locally on device It does seem like a bit of play to get users to buy a new iPhone for these abilities, disappointing for expensive premium devices. Maybe if this sort of thing got highlighted more they'd feel pressure to support their customers more.

I have noticed with this beta 18.1 beta 3, on my iPhone 15 pro Max (could have been earlier beta also), that the MOTION DETECT at night that turns on when motion is detected when sleeping is not working, or the sensitivity is decreased. I can not get it to work unless I wave my hand within an inch or two of the device. In the past, if I raised up in bed, the display would wake and show the time. This is not happening anymore even though the phone location is in the exact location as in previous versions of iOS.

Great thanks for the preview. I think when the highlights an object you just tap on it, you don’t have to scrub the object, and if you circle someone around their head, it’ll blur out their face also. Also, you can take your Apple Pencil on your iPad and run an also, you can take your Apple Pencil on your iPad and run a line through words to censor it. Aaron if you had to guess on a date when do you think the non-15 Pro models would get any AI features at all?

I have found a bug. Anyone else experiencing this? It’s quite annoying. I have about four different focuses on my iPhone. After updating to iOS 18 (a couple weeks after it came out) I noticed that some apps completely disappeared from my custom home screen that I have for each focus. The apps that have disappeared seem to be random and have no commonality. They're both system apps and apps from the apps store. After noticing this, I tried to re add the apps that were missing on these home screens by swiping down on the Home Screen to get to search, searching for the app, and then dragging it to the Home Screen. This worked and I got the app(s) on the Home Screen. However, some of these apps that disappeared were also on the Home Screen of multiple focuses. When I added an app (say Calendar) to the Home Screen of say "school focus" using the method mentioned above, the Calendar app icon completely disappeared on all other Home Screens other than the "school focus" Home Screen.
