VISUAL INTELIGANCE 15 pro There’s a similar feature for iPhone 15 pro, 18.2 users. Open the Camera app and point it at the object you want to identify. Then, ask Siri, “What is this?” It will query ChatGPT and provide a description of the image. If you’re outside the Camera app, Siri will take a screenshot and use that for the identification. After the initial identification, you can ask follow-up questions to gain more information. However, you cannot assign this functionality to the Action button. The Action button can only be used to create a shortcut that opens Google Lens when pressed.

@@marksta1 update: I found out that 100% of the time, Siri reads it out loud as if it’s her own response when the phone detects I’m driving so Siri doesn’t want me reading the message obviously so it reads it out loud. But when I’m not driving, Siri says “here’s an answer from chat GPT” and ends it there. I found out either setting drive mode on, or letting my phone automatically detect driving, to work for some ChatGPT responses

iOS 18 is the first update where I really feel they’ve drawn a line between their devices. 14PM isn’t even old but it’s like they’ve completely forgotten about it.

@@GoodKingMort that’s because the newer phones have the appropriate hardware to support the processing requirements of the new tech systems. This isn’t about making a distinction between devices. It’s the same as any new consumer tech. After two cycles later there can be drastic jumps in either software or hardware. Not every new feature will always be stable or capable for previous models.  has done well supporting older devices in the past and will continue to. How much and how often do Microsoft users have to pay for that software license? And naturally system stability is a big deal for all involved.

And if you look at the improvements to iOS 18, and 18.1 for the 14 PM there is still lots to love about the update. Nobody likes it when they can’t play with the same toys others can, but it’s a fact of life in smartphones and consumer electronics. Otherwise nobody would ever have a reason to upgrade.

Unless I am missing something, I don't see any any value from the integration with ChatGPT unless it is with voice. If I am sitting at my desk, why do I care if I query Siri or ChatGPT directly? I will get excited when there is integration between ChatGPT voice mode and CarPlay whether via Siri or directly. Hopefully something like that is coming. When I have tried that to date, I get an error message saying it can't open ChatGPT when I am driving.

Not that I’m interested in Image Playground, in fact I’ve deleted the app already but I see many others are waiting for it. Does it need extra data to download? Will each new AI feature need more data to download and can we simply pick and choose which bits we want? in my experience, it doesnt read out GPT responses, and asking Siri to read out aloud doesnt work either. Good news is if you follow up a GPT response with another question, it will continue responding with GPT answers.

I’m surprised how stable I’ve never installed a beta update before but this seems like an RC build. Only issue I’ve had is bad battery life and the siri keyboard being a bit unresponsive but not unusable. This is amazing for a beta 1 update, it might be so good because of what happened to the iPads few weeks back.

Am I the only one that has issues with mail app? Most of the time I do not get notifications of a new mail (I checked settings everything looks good). Sometimes I rings sometimes it doesn’t. And some times email won’t load properly. I had to download yahoo app to get my mail. How annoying 🥵

21:00 Mail categories is my favorite Ai os features. My mailbox is finally getting cleaned out. I hope Apple continues to improve on this every update. I’ll definitely be sending feedback. Just keep scanning and analyzing all Mail to make connections I’ve missed, sometimes the same topic is discussed in a totally different email chain or text with completely different person or group, just connect those dots. That’s all we ask. Also surface old emails and large that can be reviewed for deletion.
