iOS 18 - Every New Camera and Photos Feature

All we need is an option to turn off that post processing feature on the camera. That thing really messes up fine shots

Install Halide and replace the original camera button on your lock screen with that. You can still swipe left from the lock screen to open the Apple Camera, but the button will point you to Halide. Halide gives you way more control over your shots and even has a 'dumb' post processing setting where they keep it as stock as possible.

First of all I thought the photos redesign is terrible but I’m really getting used to it now. Take your time and just select the options that are useful for you and customize the order of it all. It’s pretty nice then.

I updated to iOS 18. I have an iPhone 15. Now when I try to edit a Photo it doesn’t give me the same options. I used to be able to add text to a photo and change the color and font of the text. Now I can’t figure out how to do that anymore. Thank you.

Thank you for the excellent video Aaron... just enough info for me to note the updates in their newer beta to decide iOS18 photos is not for me😅 My experience with the photos app in Beta was sooo bad that I had to downgrade back to iOS17. I regularly upgrade to beta iOS every year. This was the first time I can’t stand it and rolled back. Biggest problem is the removal of tabs. On iOS 17, I can tap the "Library" or "Albums" tab on the bottom to instantly jump to my newest photo. Can't seem to find the same on the new photos app. If anyone knows of how to do it on iOS18 photos please let me know. Another problem was I regularly look for photos that I need (stuff such as menus I’ve captured, furniture I had written measurements on etc, regular everyday stuff) and maybe compare them with a newer photo, by using BOTH the Library tab and the recents photos album tab at the same time. Can’t do this anymore since it’s now a combined one page design. All in all the new design is just really bad in terms of utility and this is the single biggest let down of iOS18 for me

I look forward to most of the new features but I got to say that I’m not a big fan of the new photos app. I like having my albums in a separate tab from my main gallery. Having to always have to scroll down to find an album seems like it’s going to be very annoying when I have 18k photos on my phone and use and look through them very often

Aaron hi i wonder if you could help me i had the iPhone 14 Pro Max for almost a year and gave it up in may 2024 with 98% battery health i got the iPhone 15 pro max i just checked my iPhone 15 pro max and within only 3 months I’ve lost 1% batter health with 66 charges is this normal? Should i report an issue to Apple i have never known a battery so poor in health. ( i have upload iOS 18 betas, and have had issues with MagSafe chargers) thank you for any help or advice

you have to update to iOS 18.1. There is an option for it in the update screen, I think you need developer but you just have to register for it.

I do not like the new changes on the Photos app because I like the old version of the iOS 17 and older version of the slideshow that you can select the music selection that is playing in the background in your videos now I don’t have this option no more and I hated it I want to not have the slideshow music playing, but now it looks like I don’t have the option no more.

I don’t have a computer to downgrade and second of all my device is running iOS 18 public beta six and it’s been running iOS 18 beta since September. Sorry I meant July any minute a cut down grade I think the only number was stop and then falsely asking me to upgrade to iOS 18 I believe the number would be 17.7.2 because I remember last year the last software update support +16.7.2

Still dont know why Duplicates section was removed on older model. Mine is ip13 and my friend is ip11 still have it on iOS17, but after updating to iOS18, it's gone. That's kind of very nice feature though.

That photos app is hideous. I couldn't even imagine something this bad. The present app is pretty awful, but this new one really makes me not want to update at all. All i've ever wanted is to open in albums with them vertical. A small thumbnail and album name, then be able to scroll vertically down through them, with them in the order i choose. That's it They should be able to fit at least six albums on the screen. I had something like that years ago, and nothing has ever come close to being as clean and simple. Even turning everything off it doesn't look like i get what i would choose.
