Having grown up in the 80s, FM synths just always sound good to me. I like how the app has simplified the process of programming FM, while still giving plenty of control.

I hope John Chowning gets to see and hear how majestically FM Synthesis can be manipulated these days thanks to wonderful apps like this. 57 years since he first developed the FM algorithm.

I was concerned to hear that it uses a lot of CPU on an M1 iPad. I have an M1 Air, and I’m sure I won’t be able to run multiple plugins like this at the same time, but it definitely sounds amazing. Thanks a lot for the tutorial. Cheers!

around 20% for one instance in AUM, 3 instances around 74% on an iPad M1… makes the M1 look old already…

This app and it’s sounds are lovely! Thanks to Leo’s pitch I can see that FM Zone is a good FM app for me, because the overwhelming deal of precrafted sounds and presets(I am not too fond of sound making from the very bottom), the easiness of manipulation with few but powerful controls, the envelope shaping of every parameter, the oscilloscope, the mixing with a sound file, to say a few. But also the openess, if you feel bold enough, to dive deeper into the operators manipulation. FM Zone seems to me a must app for FM lovers that don’t want to go to a nightmare of so technical controls but want to take pleasure FM sound and tweaking on the safe side. Leo, thanks for the presentation!
