Were the iCloud locked/lost mode phones you took the screens from on iOS 18 yet? If not this could explain why they were able to pair with a different phone. Perhaps the parts don’t get locked until the device is updated

You can try new lcd with any other upper flex, that both have not been paired to recipient board yet. (lcd and flex may be from different devices, not necessary from same donor) Because i actually have reports it's also working.

I think the reason that the lost/stolen phone parts worked for you was you had just reported your device stolen so apple servers maybe didn’t get enough time to update their database.

I have a13 pro with an original screen taken from another iphone and the original proximity flex for the 13 pro (i tried but fail to recover true tone using icopy) and it is failing to pair it. I don't have the proximity flex that came with the screen anymore because that repair was done some time ago. Everytime i try it says: unable to configure display because is not a genuine part or may not be functioning correctly. Iam sure the screen is original and it is functioning correctly. I have being using that iphone by the way, so i can tell it works fine

There is always bugs after a new iOS version release, with all this changes i am sure there will be more for this one in particular. Thanks for this video - I think you might have to make a part 2 in like a month, cause it's pretty normal that the earliest versions of iOS are buggy in some way, and I would stand to reason that the inconsistency we are seeing from all these experiments, not just yours but everyone from the FB groups, is probably due to just that... and I hope (and pray) (but expectations aren't high of course) that when 18.1 one is released, that some of these issues get resolved. The sad thing is - this is not a dependable solution yet for repair, and repair shops like myself wouldn't be able to depend on this repair solution. Side note: Thanks for the laughs! At the next repair expo - you should do a stand up comedy bit, lol. Oh and I appreciate your insight on the IC swaps. I've never done one, and never understood why others did them.

dot matrix and ir camera is part from the ,,rear system" which includes new mainboard,chasis and all flex cables inside,it is a factory pre configurated for the new mainboard and its not available for pairing to the end user,the only exception is the self repair service and you get a pre configurated part from the factory tied to your old mobo

Right, so this is an infringement on Right to Repair. The true depth camera is a replaceable part, however end users can't install an OEM part. The device function is TIED to a specific part pairing. This is wrong. This is what we need to bring up to the FTC en masse.

For the activation lock someone tested it and if you know there Apple ID log in you can unlock this (this only worked because they had another phone they could brick to test this and it was using their Apple ID though) This probably won’t work when I comes to parts reselling or for parts devices

Potentially, we will check. I think it's going to be the phone model--i.e. they know that older phones are going to have plentiful parts that are locked but simply discarded and not stolen. Newer phones are more likely to actually be stolen.

You should swap two genuine screens between two fully reset not iCloud phones get the parts to pair then add account then trigger activation lock on one to see if it’ll lock the part in the still not setup as the part from the other

Those parts will work except for these exceptions to functions: True Tone, battery health (this looks like it will change on iOS18.1) and faceID (aftermarket true depth cam or flood illuminator won’t work because Apple refuses to pair these parts)

My lidar sensor stopped working, ip14PM can i save it by replacing my camera module and the lidar sensor, or will portrait mode still be broken? The lidar sensor is a single piece I did a motherboard replacement, and the lidar issue is the only thing i have other than the back glass not accepting wireless charging anymore. What happens if you get a used screen put in, and then the donor phpne gets reported lost or stolen? Will it immediately flag it, flag it next time you are in the pairing menu, or never flag it?

If it's an older phone, the answer seems to be "never flag it" Keep in mind the PART WILL STILL WORK JUST THE SAME. The only thing we are talking about with this stuff is the "unable to verify genuine" message. Once the part is paired with the new CPU, it becomes married to the new device. I think the link between that part and the original device is broken---when we return Greg's screen to Greg's device after we paired it with Belinda--it is no longer recognized--the screen is now Belinda's screen.

this is what my understanding about this Apple ( after ios18 update ) thing that they will allow uses of original used parts to another iPhone is that the used parts MUST be iCloud unlocked ( OFF / all that has pairing chips ) to be able to pair successfully to the iPhone that you want to use. So no matter if we buy used original pulled parts ( original used parts) from eBay or anyone who sells them. We get 95% will be hit or miss because most of them are from iCloud locked iphone that part out just to sell individual parts. Our repair shop is still not in good standing, and the big A is still the winner 😢

All phones had True Tone and Face ID working tried swapping 3 different display with the original proxy sensor from lcd and with original from phone both methods did not work. It’s a strange one, not sure is it only iPhone 12 that is affected, tried for couple of days. Currently trying to write up a Procedure for work. Everything else is working cameras, batteries etc and other models just not the 12’s

Please try this: Put Phone A's part onto phone B, then run diagnosis on phone B to pair the part, then set phone A to lost mode, and check if phone B is locked as well.

@@JessaJones I tested Lost Mode on the iPhone 14 by myself. I have two iPhone 14s. On the first one, I entered my Apple ID and put the phone in Lost Mode. Then, I removed the screen and paired it with the second phone. The configuration was successful with no error messages, and the phone wasn’t blocked. No issues at all. I’ll wait until Apple officially releases iOS 18 and try updating it. We’ll see what happens.

I'd like to suggest a potential hypothetical solution but it would require a software engineer, what you need is a way to FORCE the iPhone to connect to check if it's valid but to redirect it to your own servers that just whitelist everything and report everything is genuine no matter what. Interrupt the process and essentially create a Fake Apple verification server where instead of verifying it just declares everything genuine. Skipping the database check and going STRAIGHT to the step it goes to AFTER it passes the check. This could be done by making it connect through a Proxy but have that proxies dns records configured so trying to connect to Apple's URLS would actually be paired to the IP address of your fake verification server. What you need is a Proxy you control and a DNS server under your control, and to reverse engineer the verification process. You poison the DNS records so that anything that points at a server under apple's control now points to your Fake verification server.

Problem is for third repair shops : If they bought used phones for donor parts and that phone is icloud locked or stolen and that shop sold the screen and battery to a costumer .. until now this wasnt a problem but after iOS 18 they will get the message to finnish repair and many will be asked to enter the donor phones icloud !! They are now screwed for using stolen phones parts!

Hi. Yesterday I updated the iPhone 14 Pro Max with iOS 18. Six months ago I replaced the screen without soldering the ic. I had a black screen after the update. I hear the sound but there is no image. The computer also sees the phone. I connected it to iTunes and restored it to factory settings. Still black screen. I opened the phone and disconnected the screen and batterie. Black screen. Maybe I'll try to go back to the previous version of iOS. Do you have any ideas ? Thank in advance for help.

I make force restart, phone back to recovery. Finally I try soft 17.6.1 exactly the same what I use before update. Flash go to 100% and phone back to life 🙂. Thank you for your message. Regards

Greg’s phone definitely got wet-that’s how he lost his native flood illuminator to begin with. However there’s no remaining liquid “damage” other than the flood. Remember that we’ve already fixed the logic board and recovered all his data (why his phone is here) and tested FaceID and it worked.

I have an iphone 12 mini that has a mismatched screen and flood illuminator, but the flood illuminator and face id module below are both original to the phone Face id works, but I can't pair the display. The repair assistant menu refuses to start, showing the bullshit network error... All of this is a waste of time honestly, Apple should ditch this entire idea because nothing works reliably and it's just a giant headache. But of course they love that, you'll just buy a new iPhone from them, since you're so loyal

Sent my iPhone 15 plus that I purchased from eBay that does not have Bluetooth & WiFi functional to Apple under warranty they sent it back as warranty void cause unauthorized repair attempted, BUT they sent it back as battery unknown. Thank god after fighting with them they refuse to let the battery report. iOS 18 came out once updated it detected genuine battery and repaired it and now reporting. Why do they do this to us? Years and years to show us that their repair Ai system is amazing and can fix things and can do diagnostics. Now Apple let us do diagnostics on our iPhones plus now Apple let you order parts from them and you can repair your own iPhone. Not sure trust Apple with the insane pricing they do

I have been an entrepreneur for the last 15 years repairing electronics. It’s sad to say that Apple is the only brand that monopolizes this industry. I’m literally waiting for a nice alternative to change my phone not to support them.

I was able to pair parts from a Chimaera Mode iPhone (it's mine. I was dumb.) and it worked. No errors. I'm still have issues with a 13PM.

I need help i replaced motherboard from a damaged device, always said the same message "Calibration camera" but i can't calibrate the camera because the assistance mode jump this step and said restart iphone, after restart the messages about camera, battery, display and face id comes again
