It’s 8:38 pm Sunday evening, July 21, 2024, on the platform of the former Joliet (Illinois) Union Station.
We see Iowa Interstate Railroad train BICB, headed from Blue Island, Illinois (Burr Oak Yard) to Council Bluffs, Iowa pass by, on the former Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad mainline.
Consist is:
1 GE ES44AC locomotive
1 EMD GP38-2 locomotive
1 GE ES44AC locomotive
124 cars, mostly tank cars plus 6 box cars and 3 covered hoppers

Very nice. I read that Amtrak is considering combining the Capitol Ltd. with the Silver Star and making it into a Chicago to Miami Florida train. The superliner cars would go elsewhere. I do like the idea of a Chicago through train to Florida but wonder about scheduling. What do you think?
