Last week I fixed a young co-worker's PS5 HDMI port, and I could not have done it without your videos. Low melt solder and combining hot air with the soldering iron and wick was a lifesaver. I had some experience with the hot air station already but game consoles really do suck up the heat. I've never seen that kid happier. His PlayStation is his most valued possession and he works his butt off. Was happy I could save him some money and I'll be sure to buy more supplies from you!

You're a genius, Alex. That last pin correction was truly over the top as it would've been fine without the added solder in the scheme of things.

I've tried to change a flex cable on an ipad mini 2 and it was a nightmare. So one again on camera it seems like an easy job but if you've tried it you will know the struggle. Nice job, Alex. 🤘🤘🤘

its good to watch your videos, in 2020 i had a stroke and it keeps my mind occupied as I used to fix stuff like this myself and after the stroke it now makes my eye sight poor ...its sort of relaxing time watching your videos .. i miss those days but watching your content makes it worthwhile to me

I own a 7. gen that I know has a charger port that is faulty as the connector is sloppy and moves quite a bit. I have already purchased a replacement port with the flex cable, and as I have never done this specific repair I have been a bit hesitant to get on this job. But now, seeing this fix done with relative ease with just a soldering iron makes me more confident. I do not have too much in the way of precision tools such as the very fine tipped soldering iron, I thought I might wing it and use a copper brad nail with a very fine point and hopefully get a makeshift one-use soldering tip out of it: Hey, if it works it works :) I may order er proper set later! Thank you for many entertaining and informative videos!

I wonder if the camera just makes it look worse than in real life, but trying to see through those cloudy windows to line up the ribbon cable, you're a better man than me!!!! I couldn't see anything! Awesome repair as always 🙂

Well, Alex, good or bad, you've encouraged me to at least try replacing an HDMI port on a monitor. I bought some low-melt solder and flux off your website and we will see how it goes. Fortunately, it's an old monitor my son got for next to nothing off Facebook, he's used it for a couple of years (cable messed up the interior connector), so it's a low risk effort 😁. If that works, I move on to replacing a USB-C port on my daughter's Switch!

You do an amazing job at soldering, but how can you say better than factory when you didn't add the glue that the factory adds?
@ca3340h3993
@ca3340h3993 6 ай бұрын
He didn't use that horrible brittle crack-prone ROHS solder that the factory uses so no need for extra glue.
@meeponinthbit3466
@meeponinthbit3466 6 ай бұрын
@@ca3340h3993beat me to it. Lead free solder is like 90% of the reason all this crap fails today. This ROHS crap cracks and leaves unreliable/failed joints, or just rips fragile pads off the board due to expansion/contraction. What's worse, for high power components like FETs that increased resistance then causes increased heat and causes components to fail.

Our guy here is talking about customers. Ya most are fine and understanding but there’s those few that will try to twist the repair/cost somehow into their favor even if you try and help them. I’m an auto tech. I now never give time estimates. Had a cust come in and ask how much to change an alternator. We were in the service drive and i thought we were being casual. I told him “about 4 hours.” Key word: ABOUT. Book was actually 4.5 and he flips his s#!t saying “your guy said 4 hours! You’re trying to rip me off!” Pbfft, ABOUT! 3.5 to 4.5 hours is ABOUT 4 hours ya dummy. My saving grace from the big boss was I know some tricks/shortcuts, as it is in our business, and i got it done in under 3 hours. You pay for the experience and expertiese. Sigh, they do what they do. Ever since if they ask I refer them to our service advisors.
