I think both are great for studying (ipad has an extra 100 bucks to the balance since apple pencil isn't included) but if that's not an issue, it's good to go! The S8+ would be great for consuming content since it has a bigger screen with an Amoled display, plus it already has the S Pen included. Personally, I'd go for the iPad because of the optimization and exclusive apps.

Technically they all are, but if you want a nicer experience make sure the screen is laminated. Everything has a laminated display except the base iPad 10th gen, so it feels like you have an air gap between the pencil and the writing area. It's noticeable, but an all good entry level option.
