12.9 is larger than 11 for sure, but the real thing to mention is that the 12.9 has a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is what Apple has been mainly using for years, so most apps will fit screen properly. The 11 has an aspect ratio of 10:7. Not sure how well the apps show on this, as it's up to the devs to update their apps.

I have to slightly disagree. Last laptop I owned was back in 2014z since then I’ve been using iPads. Back in 2017 I set a challenge to myself to use the iPad Pro as my main “laptop”. Finished a masters degree with the iPad Pro it was so much convenient for everything. I took notes with the pencil, signed documents online. Finished the dissertation. Created presentations. Gaming. Watched movies. Couldn’t be happier. So yes In my opinion you can replace the laptop with an iPad. Never felt the need of having one anymore. But I understand that fome some people that do coding, video editing etc a laptop can be more convenient.

Every video like this has exactly the same conclusion. Buy what suits you. Your use case, your budget. As for the Mini, before the shiny new 6 arrived it hardly got mentioned. I bought my M1 512GB iPad Pro yesterday, and yes it's expensive but it is FAR AND AWAY better than the iPad Air 2 I am now retiring. A lot of people say that the 12.9" quad speakers are better than the 11" and to each their own don't get me wrong, but for me upgrading from an Air 2 to an iPad Pro (I now have the 11" by the way), is like chalk and cheese and like comparing apples to oranges. They are SO good. I didn't get the 12.9" mainly because of the weight and size of the 12.9.
@YoshiYamamoto2 жыл бұрын
If you want maximum performance, the 1TB and 2TB models come with 16gb ram, the lesser storage ones only come with 8gb ram. If you are doing serious video editing, it'll be worth it to get the 1 or 2TB for the 16gb ram.

So in 3 months of usage have you noticed any badly compatible apps? In terms of aspect ratio, which is 10:7 on the 11" but apple has always used the 4:3 aspect ratio (like on the 12.9") so are there any apps that dont fit well with the screen?

The last iPad I had was an iPad 2 (2011). It's a must have for me when traveling or when the power goes out. After much research, I've decided to go with the iPad Pro 11" 128gb (the 12.9" is too big for me). The variety of uses that others have for the Mini demonstrates how versatile it can be. A Master of Non - but Good at a lot of stuff. I bought an iPad Mini Cellular 9 years ago. I do not browse with it - I'm an adult -so I use my 14" laptop to browse and an Apple TV for viewing. After 9 years of ownership, I use my Mini almost exclusively when I "TRAVEL" - to do the following - otherwise it sits in a drawer. #1- as a GPS unit in my vehicles - the best GPS ever (70%) #2 - as a Sidecar or mirror screen to view video paired with a M2 MBA (25%) #3 - as an eReader (4%) #4 - the odd miscellaneous task (1%) Since it is on its last leg (but not dead) - I will likely buy the new Mini 7 when it comes out later this year. BTW I would 'NEVER" buy a bigger iPad as the Mini is simply a great portable complimentary device.

I think many if us have been buying iPad Pros not really for what it is but what it could be, and the promise of iPadOS unlocking it's true potential. But, yet another mediocre update to iPadOS is just inexcusable. If anything iOS15 mostly just cought up with things iOS got last year already. After a few generations of iPadOS I think Apple has now made it pretty clear that they still see it as a toy that you get to consume content, or a partner device / accessory to a Mac rather than being a your only "computer" or a serious Pro device. Heck, I can't believe in 2021 it cant even format a damn USB thumb drive never mind not having multi user support. Agree with you, given iPads are intended by apple to be mostly consumption devices or accessories get the mini with 64gb and get a MacBook for real work.

as student i’m very confused 😂 the mini6 is so cute, light weight and does the job more than perfect. but the question is “ is it comfortable to use it for college?” i haven’t seen it yet to decide whether to get the mini or just spend extra 100$ for the air 4. knowing that i dont need much accessories like the magic keyboard, the pen is enough and i do have iphone 11+ laptop. So, dear college students, Help your sister 😝!

This is probably an extra fast response but I just want to be hear and wait for people’s responses😂 I’m going to university next year and I’m thinking of getting the 12.9 (m1) inch for KZbin editing, notes, gaming and my part time job. I have an iPhone X and acer laptop, but been looking at the air 4 and mini 6😅

University student here! I was so tempted by the new mini when I bought my iPad last week because it is so cute but personally I think it would just be too small for educational use. If you ever wanted to watch online lectures on it you’d probably have to have it pretty darn close to your face to actually be able to read your lecturer’s powerpoints, plus if you wanted to use digital textbooks I think the mini would be a bit small for highlighting and writing notes on them especially as textbooks usually have tiny print 😂. Personally I’d recommend either the air 4 or the ipad 9. I’ve got the air 4 and I absolutely love it but there really isn’t anything it can do that the base iPad can’t do and it is a lot of extra money. But yeah I’d definitely advise against the mini if you’re gonna be using it for college. Hope this helps!

yeah, i was torn between the air and the mini, but the mini is too mini for me to read textbooks and to take notes on. It's hard to take notes with my hand off the screen, as it's awkward. The air has the bigger screen so better placement of my hand for handwriting and easier to read as I don't need to swipe constantly to read my notes or textbooks. :)

I don't think anyone should get the air 64gb but the cost of upgrading the iPad air to 256gb makes no sense. At that price point you should probably get the smaller pro for just a bit more.

I bought an air 64gb and had to return it after a few days because I was running out of space already. I was used to an android tablet where 64gb was much more than I could use. I just went to the pro 11” 256gb because they are just small differences in price in the long term especially with a tax deduction and others have pros at work.

More than other reviewers, Thomas makes very compelling points. The sad truth that the mini with cellular option does not allow voice over cellular, through a carrier. I am led to believe that one would have to use a proper voip service like magicjack or whatsapp or google voice etc to use properly as a voice connected device. But without cellular access, relying only on wifi, one can still use those apps and facetime - audio as a phone adjunct, just not a replacement. I would think the pen would be a great selling point if one had to use a tablet over a laptop. So, the Air makes the most sense. Right now, I'm using an ancient ipad, with a bluetooth keyboard/cover. And that limits it to basic email, video viewing. I still prefer to read on my kindle paper white over the kindle app on an ipad. But I make use of my pen with my samsung note for work. I could see myself using it as well with the ipad air, or mini. I've had a mini before this full sized ipad and it was a great workhorse for me. So it becomes a selection like between a bmw roadster, or a regular bmw convertible. If you need the space, the screen realestate, then the ipad air seems the best choice...and if you don't, then the mini would be the best option.

17:31 THIS is a picture all iphone mini reviews should start with - the screen area on the ipad mini is MORE THAN TWICE the size of an iphone pro max, despite the diagonal being only about an inch and a half longer (8.3" vs the iphone's 6.7"). How? The screen proportions are completely different and Phytagorian triangle law is a btch - yes, a^2 + b^2 = c^2, but the larger the difference between a and b, the smaller the area of the rectangle. DIAGONALS LIE and this is something not visible on almost all of the ipad mini reviews.

I agree completely! Trying to do anything other than "phone stuff" on a Max-sized iPhone is still a proper pain compared to a small tablet with a 4:3 (or 3:2) ratio.

I think people often misunderstand the overpriced upgrades on Apple products. The purpose of which is not to “gouge” regular consumer but rather use higher-end consumers that can afford to max out everything to subsidize the lower end. Basically without resorting to selling a highend product to rich people and selling a crippled product to the rest of us they charge more for the upgrades. And while they can absolutely charge the lower price, this is a business we are talking about, it’s about maximizing revenue and this is one approach that compromises and benefits the regular consumer.

I have the iPad Pro 11 in., and I love it. It's super loud, I can draw because I'm an artist on procreate, it's super clear, the camera is very nice for photography, and I can still have fun with all of that. On an iPhone, it's impractical for me to do a lot of editing and art because of the tiny screen, so this is great. So in my opinion the mini wouldn't be a better choice for me, and the regular iPad has fewer options to do with the display. The big iPad Pro is just a ridiculous price lol. Ipad air would have also been great but why not go the full way with the pro.

There are good third part styluses, some of them look like the Apple Pencil 2, I found my self really well with the stylus that I have (I take a lots of notes for collage), the stylus does not have pressure sensitivity, but for my use is quite unnecessary, there is no wireless charging (it charges via usbc), and doesn’t have the double tap feature, but from my experience I didn’t missed this feature (maybe the wireless charging would be handy but I can handle one more cable in my bag) and you are getting almost the same experience of the Apple Pencil for just £20-30.
