Great review. I am an engineer who mainly reviews drawings on PDFs and occasionally uses Autocad for drawing amendments (when I am in a rush). Autocad itself tries to promote the remote app for iPad, and I wonder if you have any experience with that. Cheers.

Do you recommend saving up to the pro, or going the fast way and getting the iPad Air 5th gen? Btw, thanks for the vids, u got a new subscriber!

As a cartographer I'm interested in using Procreate to create some very detailed isometric maps (with high resolution images as a base map) and maps like a architectural site plan. I'm looking to get an iPad Pro and was wondering if 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM would be best.
@Ok-kx2te2 жыл бұрын
it really depends on how many layers you need to add to your drawing since the amount of layers you can add in procreate is dependent on your ram

Thank you Henry great Video. I have one question, how would you recomend integrating Revit into the workflow? i don use AutoCad anymore, only Revit, and been wondering if useing the ipad ocassionally as remote desktop to acces a PC with revit could work. I use it revit for feasibility studies and highlevel Models and massing studies, or to do basic layouts, althought i feel i could do this more in morpholio trace, and the export pdf or jpegs, for someone to trace over in Revit later. Thanks again! great content as always.

It's feasible to go Mac and iPad only if your company does not use Revit, ArchiCAD or any BIM software.

Hello sir! I've been really confused on whether to buy an iPad Pro for architecture. My laptop didn't have much Ram to hold like 4 to 5 softwares which includes AutoCAD, Revit, lumion, SketchUp, photoshop, and blender. I was wondering if I could use the iPad pro for 2d, 3d as well as rendering? I really wanted to buy one, but i don't know if it's gonna handle everything... I think iPad has its own 2d and 3d and rendering softwares. Could you please guide me? Thank you so much.

Architecture student here, I’ve always been told to stray away from the MacBook if I were to take this major.. and I took that advice although I really wanted to use a MacBook for its simplicity and especially the air drop feature. Just wondering, what rendering engine do you use? I’ve always been told that a MacBook cannot handle all the heavy rendering stuff.
@HenryGao3 жыл бұрын
When I needed to render, I always used Bootcamp. This worked for me throughout 7 years of school and had no problem with it. I believe Lumion works well with Mac and produce more than decent render today. At the end of the day, you have to decide that for yourself but it's entirely possible.

6 months late, but I can confidently say that my MacBook Pro 16” (2019) runs rendering programs like Enscape really well in comparison to many PCs. I think it’s a great alternative to using a PC especially if you want to remain in the Apple OS ecosystem!

In your video you briefly mentioned Bluebeam. I’m considering purchasing the 12.9” iPad with an Apple Pencil to review drawings. I have to use Bluebeam however because the rest of the firm uses Bluebeam studio sessions. But I am really looking forward to reviewing drawings with “a pencil” again. Do you have any positive or negative experiences with Bluebeam for iOS to share?

Bluebeam is discontinued on iOS unfortunately. Even if you are able to run it, it's outdated. I suggest looking at Morpholio Trace for mark up using iPad, that's what I use.

Hi Henry, very informative video tyvm!! Can I check if you can do actual drafting work on Autocad on the iPad? I.e. draft out 2D floorplans from scratch good enough for presentation to clients? I am from interior design, so its more simple floorplans rather than complex techincal drawings.

Think about what you need it for? iPad provides the portability to bring with me everywhere I go, it has become a indispensable tool in architecture. Before I bought my first iPad, I had a $1600 Wacom tablet thinking that was what I needed. I ended up selling that for half the price a year down the road and barely touched it when I transitioned to iPad.

I do bits and pieces like design and build Back in 04 I changed to apple eco system and convinced my wife to come on board. Got fed up with the crashing of windows Did find out I can have more programs open and keep flipping between than a two or three with windows Now we have multiple apple devices and use iCloud for storage along with a physical device There are plenty of tutorials on KZbin as well as what Apple do. I’ve found Notes apple app. Is brilliant. I can write a book in Notes and keep going back to add to it I put all my times in Notes and have all these files. LiDAR is also brilliant and I can scan walls and other things What I know now I’ve made the right choice I’m an old fart at 69 and I’m not giving work up I could ride my bike all day, but I’ll get a bit tied in the evening’s I believe you will have known regrets Enjoy your life. @@HenryGao there are two apps you can use and you will need a dongle but it is a great solution if you need a desktop computer while you travel.
