I can't tell you how often I will use this, Jeff! I have been lugging my workstation laptop around for years. When on vacation, I take my backpack full of stuff and set up for a few hours prior to my wife being ready to roll. This will be a game-changer! Thanks for providing all kind of productivity tools for this 65-year-old Revit user. Who would have thought, when I started using AutoCad on my 8088 computer (with floppy drives!) ....

Thank you for sharing this! As an architect / consultant, this will allow Revit access in remote locations where the portability of the iPad pro on 5G can really be leveraged. Best advantages for anticipated use: 1. Rapidly switch between iPad apps and Revit; 2. Sharing the collaborative power of table-top tablet view with a client, contractor, or other stakeholder. 3. To be able to make Revit modifications live, in full view of team.

This is insane! I am a South African Mechanical building services engineer and BIM manager for Triocon Consulting engineers. We are overseeing construction of a 21 floor residential building and being able to do inspections and make model adjustments on site using this workflow would be very helpful as one tends to forget some detail or need more context when problem solving off site requiring additional site visits, this flow would allow me to inspect and address the issue on site there and then. What a great option! I would love to be able to use Jump Desktop to run Revit on my iPad. The massive size of our laptops really make them semi-portable desktops. The flexibility of using the iPad would allow for better collaboration with team members, owners, and clients. We work in 3d and then try to explain it all to others in 2d. Using the model itself would streamline the process and help to make us more efficient .

I love using the iPad Pro and magic keyboard onsite/out of the studio, but not being able to access and spin the model has been its Achilles heel. This is the solution I’ve been wishing for. Quick question - how does it manage a multiple monitor desktop setup?
@TheRevitKid

So I suggest unplugging any additional monitors because I find it to be just easier to work with... All that being said, Jump Desktop lets you flip between all of your monitors (cycling) or showing all of the monitors at once. It's actually very nice... There is a keyboard short cut to cycle from monitor to monitor.

Hi! I'm so happy I found your video. Even if I'm here a couple of years later :) I was wondering if it's possible for the Ipad to host Revit, rather than jump desktop? I don't have a lot of resources to buy an Ipad plus also a laptop to host the Revit. The laptops I have not are 7 and 10 years old, so the hardware is significantly outdated. I was looking for something portable like an I pad or perhaps a surface, with the added benefit of touch screen. But reviewing the specs I see that the dedicated graphics are borderline for Revit. If I want something with a better graphics card, then I have to sacrifice touch screen and portability, and go with a clunker, lol. I might still have to, or maybe I should get two "middle of the road" devices, an I pad and a laptop? I would greatly appreciate your comments.

Nice solution. However I been using Revit on iPad, iMac, Mac book for about 3 years. I use Shadow. And you don’t need your own Windows PC. It had a good price of 15€ month but 1 year ago they doble it but stills a fair price for the excellence of the service. On my 27 iMac, where i use revit everyday it’s like use it on a native windows computer. Zero lag (with a good connection). The funny thing is that they have a similar button in the same place as JumpD…😅 but you can hide it. Let me know if you need more info. Cheers

I have to imagine it runs the same as the ipad would.... probably faster... All you're doing is remote desktop-ing into another machine. So it smore of internet speed that makes the difference.

I'm going to use this for client meetings as my laptop died and I had just bought a new desktop to run AutoCAD and Revit. This will be a big help in getting clients intimately involved in the design process and allowing me to show them the power of the software I have invested heavily in, both financially and time wise. Thanks for this great video.

I would use this many times per week when I travel to sites. It would be really rad to open up right in the field and make edits while getting feed back from the build team. Not to mention how the world would open up having an Ipad that is connected to my powerhouse windows machine. I can only imagine the possibilities......

I'd love to use jump desktop to work remotely on residential projects at a local coffee shop. My current laptop battery isn't very good so I've been limited to about 45 minutes at best and buying a replacement is currently not an option. Jump seems way more promising than the Duet app I've tried in the past. Would love to try it out!

Cory, yes! Even when Jump Desktop running you will see much longer than 45 minute battery life out of an iPad haha… I haven’t tested but I have gone as long as 2 hours on jump desktop solely and I think it burned maybe 30-40% battery?

Very cool tool tip! Many thanks for sharing. I think the portable nature of running Revit to an iPad could be a very useful for jobsite visits, remote productivity, or even simply pulling the model up in front of a potential client in a coffee shop rather than having to be tethered to a desktop. I think all three of these scenarios is how i would use Jump Desktop.

10:10 you can use Microsoft powertoys and remap your keys in your windows machine. I personally remapped the "~" key which right under the actual escape key. The apple keyboard has the same key. I changed that key in the windows machine because no one (99%) uses that key anyway.
