Love my mini 5. Been using it for more than couple of years and no complaints. Mostly use it for media consumption, games etc and use my phone just as a phone. Smooth eco system experience. The size is perfect for holding while reading books, news etc. holding onto this until it stops working.

@@Misbah-rf6boDo NOT purchase it. Apple utilizes software obsolescence. This means as they phase it out, they will reduce its speed tremendously. You’ll suddenly find the things that worked fast and perfect before, being reduced to a crawl. This will have nothing to do with the hardware of the device, and is initiated through their software. Apple lost a lawsuit over this in the past, and as a result, will openly admit to doing it if directly asked.

The problem with iPads aside from iOS if your not a fan, is the small storage and lack of SD support. The base models are affordable and competitively priced. The higher models with a bit extra storage are already over priced compared to the competition.

Dont know why the ios is a problem while ipads are the only tablet with long OS support. Second thing is who tf needs a lot of memory on a tablet. Everything is streaming now. Movies and music in that regards. And no sane person would use their tablet as their main camera.

@@gordlord6738 I thought the same about 64gb of space. I use my mini for mainly media consumption and some games for my kids. My apps are always being offloaded because I run out of space without downloading videos. If you aren’t always connected to the internet, it can be a huge PITA. For IOS, the long term support is good but Samsung now offers the same. My husband has had his S6 Lite since 2020 and it’s still going strong. Things are more expensive in the App Store and trying to change your country when you are an expat is a giant headache, I just tried to change mine back to America and it is going to require a plane flight ffs. This seems to be common with a lot of red tape issues in the Apple ecosystem Even with the annoyances though, you can’t beat the build quality and longevity of an iPad. Even staunch apple haters acknowledge that

While using my ipad if someone calls me I can still answer it thru speakerphone. And the seamless sync of notes and photos. That alone android peeps won't understand that apple is developing ecosystem and don't focus much on features. Well androids are trying but it is far inferior than apple's

Considering the mini 5 & iPad 8th gen share the same specs & the iPad 8 came out in 2020. I would expect to see the A12 chip supported into 2025. The IPad mini 5 however has a better display, speakers, and front camera than the iPad 8. I do worry that iPad OS has slowed it a down little though. I recently downgraded from a bigger iPad to the mini 5 due to the tablets being to big. The mini 6 I really liked it, but they made the form factor so smaller it’s just awkward to use. The mini 5 is perfect for when it comes to size. It’s just so perfect for portability and when at home texting, FaceTime, phones calls, emails, work and I just love this design. I am hoping it last for at least one more major update. I would love to see an iPad se line and see the iPad line completely go away. Then the mini 7 could be an 8” version of the air line. Then they could just put Face ID on the mini 5 body & add 4 speakers and a flash. That’s my dream IPad! I have learned that Touch ID in the home button is terrible. Which is why I switched back to the mini 5. Also the mini 6 has some display issues and I read a lot on my iPad. The 10th gen iPad screen seems to dark. So I have tons of opinions on wtf is going on with newer iPads priced so high, and the is on them. But if you want a decent iPad for a year or 2 the mini 5 is a safe bet for $250. Or the iPad 9th gen. If I was to recommend anything else I can justify more than $500 for a tablet. Just because iPad OS is the same pretty across all iPads.

@@ZePovinhofilosofo ipads are different for example the ipad 6 & 7 are A10 Chips & support the latest version of ipad os. They really are sticking to the promise of 5 years of support. If your wanting a better gaming experience. I would get the mini 6 it has an A15 chip in it & 4gbs of ram. Great speakers & laminated display. The Ipad air 4 & 10th gen have an A14 chip. But I wouldn’t recommend the 10th gen iPad. It’s a worse version of the air 4. You can always get the ipads a little cheaper buying certified refurbished from apple. Its also a weird time to buy an ipad. As we have not had new ipads this year. If theres not an announcement by November. Then most likely we will not see new ipads till March/April of 2024. It’s why I chose the iPad mini 5. I bought it new refurbished for $250. There had been tons of sales where every ipad was $150-$100 off from amazon, target, & best buy. So when I keep waiting for the mini 7 or 11th gen ipad Im like im not spending alot ya know? But if your trying to play games like RE4 remake apple states you’ll need an M1 ipad model. Which the cheapest I have seen is the Air 5 for $400 refurbished from Target. I hope that helps! 😀

Knew this older model would more than met her needs and, we even to a trip to our local Apple retail store so, she could check it out. I think the 3gb ram dates this iPad Mini but its definitely still usable today. If you can afford it, the Mini 6 is a great upgrade. I still use my Mini 5 64gb when I don't feel like using my iPad Air 5 and it runs okay on IOS 16.4

No, the 4GBRAM on the mini 6 date that too and there is basically nothing the mini 5 cannot do that the mini 6 can, contrary for instance to iPad pro 2021 vs 2020. Mini 5 was a huge upgrade from the 4 (I have both), mini 6 it's mainly an external upgrade, hopefully the mini 7 will bring 6GB RAM and maybe promotion

I have a Mini 2, Mini 5, and Xiaomi Pad5. I’m planning on buying another used Mini 5 with more space and wait for more ram on a later mini. My kid gets my old mini 5 so her games will actually work. Using a large and small tablet I can say the smaller size works so much better for me and kids. Unfortunately, there aren’t many decent options

@@_DigitalguyYeah, while the mini 6 is technically better, nothing in it urges a mini 5 owner to upgrade to it. Mini 5 is still a beast of a device and a deal for people who want to purchase a smaller sized tablet. I have mine on iOS 14 still because Apple seem to forget to optimize their software for the mini sized iPads, and it performs great and gives me 3-5 days of battery life on light to moderate usage. Sure, if I used it extensively during the day I’d probably have to charge it by the end of the day, but that’s valid for any device that gets used extensively.

Still using mine, and it still works great. BTW, I gave my iPad mini 2 from 2013 to my daughter. It was still getting security updates last year (2022). I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab a7 light. I needed a small form factor tablet with GPS to use as a navigation station for my sailboat and kayaks. It had to be cheap and the a7 was new on ebay for $70. The Mini is obviously better in almost every way, but it has been a bit of a surprise that the cheap Droid tablet can do everything the Mini can do (just not as well) and with GPS can do a number of things that the Mini can't do at all! Still the Mini is a great tablet, and I am looking forward to using it for years to come.

@@AnnisaBellsunset it is unfortunately true that iPads do not have GPS, except for those with cellular capability. Frankly I find this to be ridiculous. Why does my $100 Samsung bottom feeder have GPS, while a $500 iPad does not? Especially as the iPad mini is a favorite navigation tool for pilots? But that is ok. The cheap Samsung tablet works well as a navigation tool, and it can be easily replaced if anything happens to it.
