IPAD MINI features you didn’t know existed

Two additional hints on "Instant Notes": If you go to the Settings > Notes (not the Pencil settings), you'll have a "Access Notes from Lock Screen" setting, that when turned on allows you to even not need to swipe in locked mode, but just tap the screen anywhere with your pencil to start edit a quick note. That setting also allows you more configuration about whether to create a new or resume the previous note (and for how long to resume the previous note). In addition swiping from the bottom corner (when enabled as Stef showed) while the screen is unlocked will bring up a quick overlay window to write an Instant Note, which you can (via it's handle on the top) quickly drag to any side edge of the screen to collapse it there. You'll then have a small arrow on the side, to quickly open it back up again. Ideal for using notes while using another app, without even needing to long press it and overlay it regularily (as shown with the calculator app in this video).

Great tips! I just got a Mini 6 to replace an Air 3 I found too huge to use as an EFB. These will help a lot. I do still keep a paper pad, an ink pen, and an old school pencil on my kneeboard in case the magic smoke leaks out of the iPad.

Hey stef - great tips. But you can be even quicker with quick notes. In the notes app settings at the bottom theres a quick note setting too: you can enable that the ipad starts a new note when you just tap anywhere on the screen and re-opens your last quick note again within a set amount of time.

I wish ForeFlight would update to allow you to double tap the pencil to enter eraser mode. The triple finger swipe to undo could be handy instead though!

The two applications at the same time, there's also the 'three dots' button up the top of the middle of the screen to select how multiple apps are docked. Going flying tomorrow will try some of this stuff out. Also worth noting I believe all your tips work with iPad pro that supports the apple pencil 2.
